Message from the Mayor I am pleased to introduce the 2021 Spring/ Summer Program Guide.
opening of the Rocky Spray Park, congratulate our 2020 high school graduates It has been a difficult year as we adjusted to and honour our diverse community with the Public Health orders and restrictions to keep 2020 Cultural Showcase. We are grateful to the many programming and the cancellation of many beloved events, we still found ways to make volunteers and sponsors who have supported good memories in our community. We were the park through the years and thankful for able to host Marketplace on Main, hold a soft the generous gifts of time and money that built the park for the benefit of the entire region. We will officially open the covered grandstands this spring, and we look forward to track enhancements this year. Along with the continuation of rodeo and chuckwagon events, we will also welcome other diverse events to our community thanks to this incredible facility. While this guide is all about fun, fitness and good health, your Town Council continues to work hard to achieve its strategic goals.

“We truly have so much to be proud of.” In January, we opened the Town of Rocky Mountain House Eco Centre. The Centre is housed in the old recreation building, located at 4511-42 Street. [More details on its operation are included in this guide.] The Eco Centre is an important environmental milestone for our community, but we’re not stopping there. Later this spring, we will begin residential curbside organic collection in Town, at no additional cost to residents. These two services stand to divert up to 75 per cent of residential waste from the landfill! It makes sense environmentally and financially to embrace these services now and into the future.
A tailor-made Rocky Mountain House Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) is coming soon. We have been working closely with MCCAC and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Rocky stands to be first Alberta Town to offer this program to residents in 2021! CEIP is a voluntary way to finance clean energy improvements in homes and businesses through property taxation. [More details are included in this guide.] We truly have so much to be proud of, and we’ve worked tenaciously to make real progress over the past few years. Despite the incredible challenge of the pandemic and economic crises, we are still here. We are still working to serve you. We are looking to the future. Our community is vibrant and active in the spring and summer months. I encourage you to get out and try something new. Rocky Mountain House is truly where adventure begins, and I wish you a healthy, happy season ahead.

Town Information
The Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) is designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through energy efficiency upgrades and scaling up the adoption of renewable energy technologies. CEIP helps address the upfront cost barriers associated with energy efficiency and renewable upgrades. Residential, and potentially commercial property owners, can access flexible financing from the Town of Rocky Mountain House to pay for eligible upgrades that increase energy efficiency or generate renewable energy, making spaces healthier and more comfortable. Participation in the program is enabled through the Town of Town of Rocky Mountain House’s clean energy improvement tax bylaw (adopted December 3, 2019). The bylaw allows the Town to offer financing for eligible upgrades and recover costs by levying a Clean Energy Improvement Charge on the property where upgrades are installed. Participation in the program is voluntary for property owners. What makes CEIP different from all other financing options available in the market is the Clean Energy Improvement Charge is tied to the property and not the property owner. If the property is sold, the new owner assumes responsibility for repayment, while also enjoying the benefits of the upgrade(s). Key Features: • Competitive interest rates and long repayment terms. • Flexibility to repay the Clean Energy Improvement Charge at any time. • Clean Energy Improvement Charge is tied to the property, not the property owner. • If rebates and incentives (municipal, federal, or other) are available they can be used to reduce your project cost.
Types of Upgrades Available: • HVAC control and heating (e.g., high efficiency furnace, air source heat pump). • Water heating (e.g., tankless natural gas water heater, drain water heat recovery). • Renewable and alternative energy (e.g., solar PV, combined heat and power). • Doors, windows and insulation.
More information on the program, project eligibility, and the application process will be available soon on myCEIP.ca.

Stettler, Ponoka and Wainwright have challenged Rocky Mountain House to a Walk ‘n’ Roll “I’m Just Less Driven” friendly competition this summer! Which town can register the most destinations reached by walking/biking (therefore being “less driven” by vehicles)? It’s simple: Walk or bike to a destination.
(This is not about going for a walk/bike ride for pure exercise. It’s about using walking and biking as your transportation to a destination.)
Leave your car at home. Register your trips each week on our website:
www.rockymtnhouse.com The length of trip is not important. It’s only important that you reached a destination by walking or biking. Each “to” and “from” is considered a separate trip. Monthly draws for a Walk ‘n’ Roll “I’m Just Less Driven” Prize package from all participants. Great for you! Great for our air! Great for the planet! The challenge goes from May 1 to August 31. Organized by the Stettler Heartland Beautification Committee, Ponoka Recreation Department and the Rocky Mountain House Recreation Department.
