If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second.
Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship…
“Families have restorative powers. This needs special underscoring. Our current preoccupations with family dysfunction, victimization, and pathology skews our perception of the family. The truth is that we constantly influence each other, that we leave our mark on each other’s souls, that we either hurt or help each other.” — Peter L. Steinke, How Your Church Family Works
Your entire family is welcome here! Children’s worship bags filled with books and activities are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code. We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM OUR LAKOTA FRIENDS IN SD The Lakota of Standing Rock Reservation, along with First Nations people from all over the Americas, have set up Camp of the Sacred Stones near Cannonball, ND, to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline that will move fracked oil from the Bakken and Three Forks areas in North Dakota to Illinois. The original protest began because of the potential danger to the Reservation water supply if a rupture would occur at one of the many river crossings near the Standing Rock Reservation. Our Lakota friends of the Cheyenne River Reservation are very concerned and are standing with their brothers and sisters of Standing Rock, and in an effort to bring awareness to the situation, those at the camp have called on all people who live along the Missouri and Mississippi rivers to have gatherings of prayer. From a Facebook invitation, we are printing the following: “In a show of Kansas City’s solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, there will be a peaceful and respectful prayer gathering in Kansas City, Missouri, at Richard L. Berkley Riverfront Park, between the Kit Bond Bridge and Heart of America Bridge beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4. There will be a prayer ceremony at noon conducted by Lakota Spiritual Leader, Moses Brings Plenty, with a keynote speech to follow. Immediately following the prayers and keynote speech, we are requesting you join us in a march across the Heart of America Bridge.”
This is important to our Lakota friends and so is being shared with the 2BC community. If you would like additional information, the Facebook page is under Missouri River Solidarity With Standing Rock.

Please try to find a sub if you cannot work that Sunday, or contact me so I will know if there is going to be a vacancy there. If you do not have a computer for signup, please call me (816-729-5580) or see me in person with a date. I’ll put it on the website for you!
