If you are a first-time guest, we invite you to complete a guest card from a pew pocket or the Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Your information is private and will not be used for any other purpose than to keep you informed about 2BC. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), Our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second. Children’s worship bags, filled with books and activities, are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code.
We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

A NOTE FROM PASTOR JASON We’ve prepared for Easter this year by studying the first followers of Jesus. Among them were doubters, dreamers, opportunists, outcasts, and all manner of mold breakers. I suspect if rabbinic contemporaries of Jesus were creating profiles for the team members needed to start a world changing religious movement, they would have looked at Jesus’ first followers and swiped left. (online dating lingo for “No, not that one) This made for lively entertainment. Jesus repeatedly had to say things like “Stop that!” or “You still don’t get it?” Then, in his darkest moment, most of his first followers fled. It seemed he had chosen poorly.
It seemed. But things aren’t always as they seem. Like on Easter morning, for instance. The day started with great sadness and immense fear. Jesus’ followers were weeping and hiding. Jesus was gone. They’d lost the one they loved most and they’d been exposed as frauds. But then, something happened. Mary Magdalene burst in on the others shouting something unbelievably unbelievable. Grown men then raced like boys to discover what they were certain was untrue. It must have been a hallucination or an elaborately cruel April Fool’s prank. But things weren’t as they seemed. Instead: Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed! We say this with gusto every Easter morning. It is the call and response that inaugurates and infuses our Easter Sunday celebration. But for them, it was more than a litany. It was life. People met these once outcast, once maligned men and women and something about them—a lot about them—was now different. Their lives had been flipped upside down and they were now flipping the world upside down. It was as if every breath, every word, every moment emanating from them proclaimed “Christ is Risen,” and those who experienced this with them were then compelled to respond “Christ is Risen Indeed!” May it be so with us. I hope as we’ve gazed into the mirror of these first disciples’ lives you have glimpsed your own reflection. We too are doubters, dreamers, opportunists, outcasts and all manner of mold breakers. If we look closely, we’ll feel resonance. Even more, we too live this side of His resurrection. The opportunity to be encountered by Jesus is all around us. He is risen. If we’re open to Him, He’ll flip our lives upside down and we’ll flip this world upside down too. As people meet us they may not be able to put their finger on it at first, but with every breath, every word, every moment they’ll sense the emanation of “Christ is Risen.” And those who do will feel compelled to respond “Christ is Risen Indeed!” We’ve come to doubt this sort of thing. It seems it just doesn’t happen anymore. Not here. Not with us. It seems this kind of transforming experience is for other people in other places at other times. But with Jesus, the Living Christ, things aren’t always as they seem. Happy Easter, friends! Christ is Risen. Christ is Risen Indeed! Now, let’s go change the world together. With Resurrection Hope,
Jason Edwards

GLOBAL 6K FOR CLEAN WATER WITH TEAM WORLD VISION May 19 One of many staggering facts about the need for clean water around the world is that nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every DAY from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. World Vision believes the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes. That’s why they are focused on providing clean water and sanitation to every man, woman, and child in every community where they work, including the most vulnerable populations in the hardest-to-reach places. We at Second Baptist believe we can have a part in solving it, too. Join the Second Baptist Team to walk or run in the Global 6K this year at Liberty Memorial Park in Kansas City, Saturday, May 19. Your registration of $50/adults will bring lasting clean water to one new person. Children’s registration is $25. For more information check out our website page 2bcliberty.org/serve/TeamWorldVision or contact Mike Lassiter. You can register to be on the 2BC team here. People often ask, “Why a 6K?” 6 kilometers is the average distance that people in the developing world walk for water—water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases. Join the 2BC TEAM and be part of a global movement from fast runners to leisurely walkers, thousands of people will unite around the globe on a mission together to bring clean water to communities in need. World Vision works in over 100 countries and brings clean water to 1 new person every 30 seconds.
Hey Friends, We are super excited to be running in the World Vision Global 6K for Water! We will be running or walking to provide clean water to children in communities around the world. We would love for you to either register for the 6K alongside us or give a donation to our fundraising page.

PRAYER MINISTRY To improve our communications with you about congregational prayer needs we have been evaluating how we presently communicate. We have redesigned the prayer list for an easier to read format. The new design will launch on Wednesday, April 4 Hard copies of the prayer list will be available in the Sunday attendance folders beginning on April 22. Hard copies will be available on the west wall of The Welcome Center on April 22. Concerns will stay on this list no longer than six weeks. At that time, they will be moved to an Ongoing Prayer Needs list for six months. This list will be available upon request from Dawn at The Welcome Center desk or from download on our website. Our Good Shepherd ministry is our prayer and contact ministry for members who are homebound for a lengthy period of time. Those names will be listed on the Continuing Prayer Needs list. Names will stay on this list for one year.. Contact information for members who are on a prayer list is available on The Hub or by calling the church office.
An online prayer page is being added to our website. It will launch April 22. It will be located on the menu under the “Connect/Care” tab (http://2bcliberty.org/prayerrequest). On this page, you will be able to access the weekly prayer list as a downloadable PDF file. You can download the long-term prayer list. There will also be access to” Prayers of the People” from the CBF Prayer page. This is a birthday prayer calendar for field personnel and weekly updates on prayer needs from specific field personnel.
These changes will take effect on April 22, 2018. When you call in to ask that your name or a loved one’s name be added to the prayer list, we will ask if it is permissible to share that name in this public fashion. As always, we maintain a “pastors only” prayer list that is not shared in any of our public venues, and you can also make a request for someone to be added to this list. We will not publish hospital room numbers or contact information. Church members may get contact information from The Hub and room numbers by calling the church office. If you have any suggestions on ways to improve our communications and enhance our 2BC caring and praying ministry, please contact Mike Lassiter.
