If you are a first-time guest, we invite you to complete a guest card from a pew pocket or the Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may get acquainted with you. Also, text “Explore” to 816-355-4736. We would like to communicate with you via text and email with some brief informational messages over the next few weeks. Your information is private and will not be used for any other purpose than to keep you informed about 2BC. Please see an usher if you’d like a listening aid. Each Sunday in the Welcome Center (just inside the Kansas Street entrance on Level 1), Our Hospitality Team is waiting to help you get connected. This may include finding a Bible study class, showing you where children and student ministries meet, or sharing the day’s activities and schedule. You may also enjoy a cup of coffee at the Welcome Center’s coffee bar and get to know others at Second. Children’s worship bags, filled with books and activities, are available at the Sanctuary entrances. If you’d like an alternative for your children, childcare for birth through Pre-K is available on Level 2 at any point in the service. Our Welcome Center is also available for those with restless infants, and you can view the service on a monitor there. In addition to placing your offering in the offering plate, you can give online at 2bcliberty.org/give or via your smartphone by scanning this QR code.

We have “online giving” cards in the pew rack that you can place in the offering plate to represent your gift if you choose.

Take a moment to prepare your heart for worship.

“We are not likely to fight to save what we do not love.” — Jan Richardson, Sacred Journeys “Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion is to look out to the world. Yours are the feet with which Christ is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which Christ is to bless all people now.” —Teresa of Avila “The Lord did not abandon Thomas to his unbelief, nor will the Lord abandon us to ours. God hears our cries for help and answers. God knows how we struggle to believe what we can't see or touch. Know that our Invisible God makes forgiveness visible to our hearts and souls. See God at work in your life from this day forward. Now trust your spiritual sight more each day.” — Jim Taylor, Rumors

GLOBAL 6K FOR CLEAN WATER WITH TEAM WORLD VISION May 19 | 8:00 a.m. | Liberty Memorial Park | Donate or join the team at 2bcliberty.org/twv One of many staggering facts about the need for clean water around the world is that nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every DAY from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. World Vision believes the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes. That’s why they are focused on providing clean water and sanitation to every man, woman, and child in every community where they work, including the most vulnerable populations in the hardest-to-reach places. We at Second Baptist believe we can have a part in solving it, too. Join the Second Baptist Team to walk or run in the Global 6K this year and help us reach our goal of raising $2000. Your registration of $50/adult will bring lasting clean water to one new person, so our $2000 would help 40 people! Children’s registration is $25. To donate or register for the team, visit 2bcliberty.org/twv, or contact Mike Lassiter at 816-781-2824 or mlassiter@2bcliberty.org. Join the 2BC TEAM and be part of a global movement from fast runners to leisurely walkers, thousands of people will unite around the globe on a mission together to bring clean water to communities in need. World Vision works in over 100 countries and brings clean water to one new person every 30 seconds.

PEOPLE OFTEN ASK, “WHY A 6K?” Six kilometers is the average distance that people in the developing world walk for water — water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases.

PRAYER MINISTRY To improve our communications with you about congregational prayer needs we have been evaluating how we presently communicate. We have redesigned the prayer list for an easier to read format.  Hard copies of the prayer list will be available in the Sunday attendance folders beginning on April 22.  Hard copies will be available on the west wall of The Welcome Center on April 22.  Concerns will stay on this list no longer than six weeks. At that time, they will be moved to an Ongoing Prayer Needs list for six months. This list will be available upon request from Dawn at The Welcome Center desk or from download on our website.  Our Good Shepherd ministry is our prayer and contact ministry for members who are homebound for a lengthy period of time. Those names will be listed on the Continuing Prayer Needs list. Names will stay on this list for one year. Contact information for members who are on a prayer list is available on The Hub or by calling the church office. 

An online prayer page is being added to our website. It will launch April 22. It will be located on the menu under the “Connect/Care” tab (http://2bcliberty.org/prayerrequest).  On this page, you will be able to access the weekly prayer list as a downloadable PDF file. You can download the long-term prayer list.  There will also be access to” Prayers of the People” from the CBF Prayer page. This is a birthday prayer calendar for field personnel and weekly updates on prayer needs from specific field personnel.

These changes will take effect on April 22. When you call in to ask that your name or a loved one’s name be added to the prayer list, we will ask if it is permissible to share that name in this public fashion. As always, we maintain a “pastors only” prayer list that is not shared in any of our public venues, and you can also make a request for someone to be added to this list. We will not publish hospital room numbers or contact information. Church members may get contact information from The Hub and room numbers by calling the church office. If you have any suggestions on ways to improve our communications and enhance our 2BC caring and praying ministry, please contact Mike Lassiter.
