The Dream of God 10.12.14

Welcome Guests If you are a first-time guest, please complete a guest card from a pew pocket or Friendship Register and drop it in the offering plate so that we may acknowledge your visit and get acquainted with you. We are glad you have joined us for worship today. ________________________ Meditation

RICHES The trouble with being rich is that since you can solve with your checkbook virtually all of the practical problems that bedevil ordinary people, you are left in your leisure with nothing but the great human problems to contend with: how to be happy, how to love and be loved, how to find meaning and purpose in your life. In desperation the rich are continually tempted to believe that they can solve these problems too with their checkbooks, which is presumably what led Jesus to remark one day that for a rich man to get to Heaven is about as easy as for a Cadillac to get through a revolving door. – Frederick Buechner, Wishful Thinking: A Theological ABC

OTHER CATALYST 2.0 Missions Efforts

(aka: What you didn’t hear in today’s video!) As we deepen our commitment to vulnerable and marginalized people around the world, we have and will continue to engage in strategic partnerships to help us build relationships and solidify our commitment. Already we have seen incredible things happen in the United States and the world. These relationships have continued to open doors and even led to other types of collaboration we couldn’t have imagined but for God’s dream. For example, because of our relationship with Byron and Toni Buffalo in Bridger, South Dakota, we now call many people of the United Christian Church (UCC) and Episcopal Church our friends and co-laborers for Christ because we know and share a common understanding about God’s Dream for, in, and through the Lakota people. Also, this past year we have engaged in a new area of the world with the people of Thailand, India, and Myanmar. And because of continued engagement in Nepal with teacher training, additional opportunities have developed in South Dakota and Haiti. When God’s dream expands through cooperation, fellowship and enthusiasm follows.

We have so much to share about how God is working with us and through us as we serve in the Kingdom of God. Watch your email or Facebook page, or go online and to view the additional Catalyst Missions Overview video today. Members share their experiences over the last twenty four months and you’ll hear stories of how God’s dream is coming true in all corners of our world.
