WELCOME WELCOME FROM THE CHAMBER PRESIDENT The Grayslake Chamber of Commerce extends a warm welcome to everyone. The Chamber, founded in 1950, continues to be a driving force throughout the community. Whereas most chambers’ sole focus is on business growth and development, the Grayslake Chamber, in addition, is the premier civic organization in town, sponsoring various events such as the Craft Beer Fest, Arts Festival & Wine Tasting, 5K Fun Run, Color Aloft Balloon Festival, Business Trick-or-Treating, the Annual Tree Lighting ceremony, and of course, Summer Days. Not only is this good for our businesses, but it also spreads goodwill and fosters a community’s spirit unlike any in Lake County. The Chamber of Commerce provides its members with many benefits and business services. These include joint advertising programs, sponsorships, newsletters, customer referrals, informational membership meetings, seminars targeted to specific needs of the business owner and many opportunities to network and make new contacts and relationships. The Chamber is also very active in local, state and federal issues regarding business. The Grayslake Chamber continues to grow and prosper, with membership of more than 210. The Chamber enjoys excellent working relationships with the village, economic development commission, park district, township and schools. We all work together for the betterment of the community. Please visit www.grayslakechamber.com or call (847) 223-6888 for additional information about the community, its businesses or how the Chamber can help your business grow. Sincerely, Philip Bruno Chamber President

If you have overnight guests, or if your vehicle is disabled on a village street, notify the police department as soon as possible. WATER AND SEWER Water and sewer bills may be paid at the village hall. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. During regular business hours, you may pay your bill inside village hall or use the convenient night deposit on the south side of the building. Various payment options, such as credit card or online payment, are also available. For more information, call (847) 2238515 or visit www.villageofgrayslake.com. BUILDING DEPARTMENT The building department, (847) 223-8515, the village hall, issues permits for any building or property changes including decks, fencing, patios, yard sheds and paving. Consult with the building department before making any interior or exterior changes to your property. PETS Owners are required to abide by the leash law whenever an animal is off the owner’s property. Additionally, owners are responsible for the removal of their animal’s waste from public and private property. LANDSCAPE WASTE DISPOSAL Illinois law requires that landscape waste, consisting of leaves, grass clippings and woody material be excluded from landfill disposal. Residents who wish to dispose of their landscape waste have two options. First, you can create a compost pile that will naturally decompose the yard waste. Secondly, you can subscribe to Waste Management’s yard waste service at a flat monthly fee. To arrange for this service, contact Waste Management at (847) 395-2020. Containers may be on the parkway only from 6 p.m. the night before pickup until 6 p.m. the day of pickup. The village’s contract provides for the pickup of garbage deposited only in the automated cart. If you have additional garbage for pickup, call Waste Management and make direct arrangements with them for a special pickup. Waste Management charges for special pickups. They are not included in the standard service provided by the village contract.

GRAYSLAKE 125TH ANNIVERSARY In 2020, Grayslake will mark its rather unpronounceable “quasquicentennial” (125th anniversary) and preparations for a year of celebration are in full swing in Grayslake, coordinated by the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce. “We expect and hope that the residents of Grayslake will come together during 2020 to celebrate its past,” said Charlotte Renehan, president of the Grayslake Historical Society. Things will kick off this September when the village board proclaims 2020 as the year to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the village’s incorporation. But most of the celebration will take place in 2020 including: May 9 – The Celebration Kick-Off will be held at the Heritage Center on the actual anniversary of the date of incorporation. This event will launch a summer of events. The kickoff will likely feature costumed characters sharing Grayslake’s past and other tributes to Grayslake history. June 13 – The village board will open the Village Centennial time capsule, sealed in 1995. The public is invited to the capsule’s opening. After the items are removed, a new time capsule commemorating the 125th anniversary will be created. July 25 – A street dance on Center Street will feature a DJ and food and beverage offerings from restaurants. August 14-15 – Grayslake’s annual Summer Days will highlight Grayslake’s 125th anniversary. The weekend will include an expanded carnival; a bigger-than-usual, anniversary-themed parade; a Touch-A-Truck event; live music and a bike tour through Grayslake. Grayslake’s annual Color Aloft Balloon Festival will take place this weekend, as well. In addition, throughout the anniversary

year there will be a wide variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits, programming, a municipal flag design contest and a public art competition. At Millennium Court, an outdoor exhibit featuring now and then photos, maps and other information will go on display. The historical society also plans to collect family histories written by members of the community and then compile them into a spiralbound book, Renehan noted. “We hope that lots of people will contribute stories and photos to this effort,” she said. GRAYSLAKE SETTLERS In case you are unaware of the history, the Grayslake area of Lake County was first settled

by the Grays, Forvors, Hendees and Riches in the mid-1830s. William M. Gray, whose land included a section of the south shore of the lake, eventually lent his name to the body of water, even though he eventually left the territory. Although Hainesville to the west was the area’s first burgeoning community, it failed to get a train depot and other communities – including Grayslake and Round Lake – soon surpassed it. With a population of 325 residents, Grayslake incorporated in 1895. Local men met at the Thomson brothers’ hardware store to cast their votes. By 1899, Grayslake’s business directory already boasted: a general store, a hardware store, a bank, a jeweler, a pharmacy, two hotels, one resort, three saloons, a lumber company, two blacksmith shops, a barber shop, a masonry shop, a carpentry shop, a furniture and undertaking business, a dentist and a well driller. The Opera House came along in 1902, followed by the Fisk Kyle cannery in 1904, The Grayslake Times newspaper in 1905 and the Wisconsin Condensed Milk Company in 1912. Nestlé would briefly acquire this last structure, before selling it to the Grayslake Gelatin Company in 1922. The iconic smokestack from this building, bearing the name Grayslake, is still a defining part of the community's skyline. POSTWAR BOOM By the end of World War I, Grayslake boasted a population of more than 700 and despite the difficulties of the Great Depression, the community continued to grow. Following the Second World War, the local population swelled to just over 1,900. The most dramatic growth, however, took

12

place between 1990 and today. Grayslake witnessed explosive growth during this time period, climbing from a population of 7,800 in 1990 to approximately 21,000 today. Yet, for all of the changes, Grayslake still maintains its small-town charm punctuated with a plethora of small, locally-owned businesses and restaurants offering residents nearly everything they could possibly need. In fact, it seems the only services/businesses that late 19th century Grayslake offered but 21st century Grayslake does not, are blacksmiths and well drillers, said Michelle Poe, director of the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum

PUBLIC SAFETY The Grayslake Fire Protection District, led by Chief John Christian and the GrayslakeHainesville Police Department, led by Chief Phil Perlini, make Grayslake a safer place to live. FIRE DEPARTMENT The Grayslake Fire Protection District’s 40 full-time and 30 part-time firefighter/paramedics responded to 4439 calls for help during 2018 and are continually getting additional equipment and specialized training to further serve residents of the district, according to Christian. In fact, a new fire engine and ambulance have recently been delivered to replace aging pieces. “Our focus always is to reduce risk to the District’s community by increasing fire prevention inspections, developing new strategies for dealing with hazards and keeping a close eye on how we are responding to situations,” Christian said. “We also continue to advocate for the installation of fire sprinklers in any new construction.” A community outreach coordinator has also recently been hired by the district to assess and reduce risks and to initiate new programs to reduce area deaths. Research has shown that home fires become deadly in as few as three minutes. Fires today seem to burn faster and kill quicker, because the contents of modern homes can burn faster and more intensely. The installation of sprinkler systems can reduce these risks and minimize property loss, he said. Because of the large number of lakes in the District, firefighters need more diverse training than those in communities with less water. Grayslake has six firefighters who are also certified public safety divers, trained to execute rescue and recovery efforts in both water and on ice. They are part of the Lake County Water Rescue Team which handles calls from Lake Michigan, west into McHenry County. “We have many bodies of water in Grayslake and in Lake County, so we need highly-trained divers available year-round,” Christian said. “All

fire district personnel are trained to an operation level but we also have technicians available in the County who are trained to operate Countyowned sonar equipment to do both side scans and sector scans of our lakes. Recreational boating in Lake County is continually increasing so we need to be fully prepared with the proper equipment and personnel to respond to emergencies on our lakes.” “The technology we have to assist with water rescues has advanced so much. When I started with the District 32 years ago, our divers just had to dive in and look for the missing person. Now, with this sonar technology, things are much more efficient and safer for our divers,” he said. “We continually strive to provide the best service we can in a constantly changing environment,” he said. POLICE DEPARTMENT The Grayslake-Hainesville Police Department plays a uniquely integral part in the life of its communities, touching residents in engaging ways whenever possible.

For instance, Grayslake collaborates with other Lake County policing bodies including Mundelein, Libertyville, Gurnee and Round Lake Park in an effort to curb prescription drug abuse which often leads to opiate addiction, Chief Perlini said. “We got in on the ground floor of this effort, working alongside the Lake County Opiate Task Force,” he said. “We carry Narcan, the opiate overdose antidote, in all of our police cars now and have brought back a number of overdose victims over the years.” But the effort does not end there. Anyone who want help with an addiction problem can walk into the Grayslake Police Department, 10 S. Seymour Ave. or approach an officer and ask for help. Residents can assist by disposing of their unused prescription drugs and old syringes in approved containers in the Department’s lobby. In addition, this year Officer Jackie Beasy spent time in three local senior citizen communities, soliciting and accepting old medications from residents and then disposing of them safely.

The Volunteer Grayslake Fire Department was founded when the village was only five years old, so it is celebrating its 120th anniversary. During the 1970s, the department expanded to become a Fire Protection District covering six area municipalities, as well as some unincorporated areas, and became a paid department in 1981.

In 1993 the Grayslake Police Department got a police canine named Thor who remained in service until injured in 1996. Assistant Watch Commander Amy Guzman annually coordinates the Department’s participation in the Special Olympics Torch Run, held each June. The event covers about three miles of Route 83 roadway within Grayslake and many members of the Department participate by providing water to runners, guarding intersections and even running themselves. Perlini also takes pride in the department’s “Shop with A Cop” program, which helped 32 local children last year alone. Local businesses and residents support the program which is run entirely on donations and involves a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a Christmas movie, treats and a shopping outing with a police officer. The December event annually involves between 15 and 20 Grayslake police officers, supplemented by volunteers from surrounding departments.

The Grayslake-Hainesville Department currently consists of 32 full-time and seven parttime sworn officers, eight of whom are women. “We actively work to diversify our force,” Perlini said, “with regard to gender and race. In fact, we plan to hold another applicant test this September if anyone is interested in joining the department.” Part of their recruitment effort includes the sponsorship of a local Explorer Post for those ages 14 to 21 who are interested in a career in law enforcement. Post participants may come from any community and they are able to find out what life as a police officer is like by going through some police training to learn job basics and getting practical experience by helping the community with traffic control and other tasks at local events like the Lake County Fair. If you know anyone who might be interested in the Explorer program, contact Deputy Chief Jeff Myhra at (847) 223-2341 or at jmyhra@ villageofgrayslake.com.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Grayslake is a community which holds fast to and proudly exhibits remnants of its colorful past, while also looking into the future for new businesses and amenities which will sustain the village for years to come. Gelatin Park, which was dedicated last November, is a perfect example. The Village acquired an old 10-acre gelatin factory site alongside the railroad tracks northeast of the downtown (which had been vacant for about 30 years); demolished the old factory buildings; performed an environmental clean-up of the site; and preserved the historic gelatin factory smokestack. Then the site was improved with a 25-foot high cardio hill, bike paths, a pavilion with benches, a meandering road called Railroad Avenue that provides a connection between the downtown and Central Park, a parking lot containing 140 spaces, as well as 33 spaces along Railroad Avenue within the park. This summer it is expected to receive its first real work-out by the community. Similarly, the “Millennium Court Veteran’s Memorial” at the southeast corner of Seymour and Center Streets on the site of a former parking lot has been expanded to include the adjoining “Village Center Commons.” It features grass and hard-scaping, trestles, benches, a gated archway and monument plaques erected to honor the history of Grayslake. And if you are interested in learning more about the rich history of Grayslake, visit the Grayslake Heritage Center, a joint effort of the Grayslake Historical Society and the Village of Grayslake, at 164 Hawley St. The permanent gallery is built inside the village’s original oneroom schoolhouse, which has been stacked on top of the village’s old fire station, for a unique experience. It is open from noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday and on Sundays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It is also open by appointment and during major downtown Grayslake events. Also in the downtown area, a new multi-story restaurant/tavern called First Draft Grayslake is being built at the eastern end of downtown near Seymour Street. The construction involves renovating an existing two-story historic structure and new construction next door. It is expected to open during the summer of 2019. First Draft has its first very successful location on Clark Street in Chicago, said Brett Kryska, assistant village manager. And work also continues on Beer Bazaar at 107 Center St. Once open, it is expected to sell craft beers from around the world and offer tasting events. They are renovating both the facade and the building’s interior and are also making improvements to the structure near the alley in the rear, Kryska said. Other Grayslake businesses that are new or

16

have added space include ATI Physical Therapy, which opened in early 2019 near the intersection of Route 83 and Center Street, and Great Lakes Gelatin which is building an 11,880-squarefoot addition on its south side to accommodate equipment and product storage. Dollar Tree, near Route 120 and Atkinson Road, opened in January 2019. There is also talk about the construction of a medical dialysis center and a Buona Beef restaurant on Route 120 between the Travanse Memory Care facility and a Shell gas station near the intersection with Route 45, Kryska said. The village is completing the last phase of its multi-year downtown improvement plan. The

For 60 years, the Grayslake Gelatin Co. was the village’s industrial heart and one of its main employers. It closed in 1982 and now its iconic smokestack remains, functioning like the Hollywood sign does in California. village is in the process of placing utility (phone, electric, cable) lines underground along Center Street between Seymour Avenue and Railroad Avenue. Many other areas of the downtown have already been updated. In 2018, The village

performed hardscaping improvements including placing overhead utility lines underground along the alley south of Center Street, as well as expanding parking and working to enhance pedestrian foot traffic access between the various parking lots and local businesses. They have also eased pedestrian access to the United Protestant Church parking lot which the village leases for public parking. “We are always evaluating potential projects and looking for ways to improve the downtown,” Kryska said. Non-infrastructure improvements are also under development. The new Grayslake Village Center website (www.grayslakevillagecenter.com) has gone live in order to promote the geographic center of the village along Route 83 between Route 120 and Lilary Lane. Many amenities like the Heritage Center, the Aquatic Center, the Senior Center, Grayslake Central High School and the Grayslake Public Library are within this geographic area and the website promotes their services and activities, as well as those of local organizations and businesses. “We want to encourage people to come out

and patronize local businesses, activities and attractions. The website even offers panoramic photos and virtual tours of local festivals and attractions. It is administered by the Village,” Kryska said. The village has also initiated the Grayslake Sustainable Business Initiative recognition program for businesses that have stepped up and worked hard to make their businesses more sustainable. The mayor and village board recognize businesses that are recycling, food scrapping (for restaurants), using LED lights and otherwise saving energy. Five businesses have already been honored: Light the Lamp micro-brewery, GRILL (a restaurant and caterer), Somethings Brewing, Old School Montessori and Prairie Crossing Charter School. Finally, the village’s economic development commission presented its annual economic development awards. During 2018, they honored Flagg Chevrolet as the Business of the Year and Phil Harris, a former village trustee and longtime member and chairman, now retired, of the village’s economic development commission, as winner of the Volunteer of the Year award.

EDUCATION University Center of Lake County, a state-ofthe-art educational facility shared by 17 public and private Illinois colleges and universities, was the answer to many Lake County residents’ dreams when it opened in 2005 and it remains a dream-come-true for many today. Until the late 1990s, Lake County had the dubious distinction of hosting not a single fouryear public university. Students would get their associate degrees at the College of Lake County and then have no public degree option within the county where they could earn their bachelors’ degrees or pursue graduate work. It was shortcoming, to be sure, and residents were literally clamoring for ready access to higher education. The Illinois Board of Education took note and asked institutions of higher learning all over Illinois to help meet the needs of Lake County by offering remote programming here, said Associate Dean Hilary Ward Schnadt. “They put out an open call for interested institutions, charged the University of Illinois with overseeing it and provided funding. Collaborating institutions began offering programs. Then, in 2000, UC became an independent 501(c)(3) organization,” she said. At first, classes were held in rented office space in Lincolnshire, as well as in CLC classrooms in Grayslake, Waukegan and Vernon Hills. A small UC facility in Waukegan opened in 2004 and their flagship facility on the northeast edge of the College of Lake County campus in Grayslake opened in 2005. But it is important to emphasize that the University Center is a partner institution to the College of Lake County, but they are different entities. “Our aim was to give Lake County student access, choice and flexibility in their educational choices, offering both fully online and classroom programs for the completion of bachelor’s degrees in various majors and for the pursuit of graduate level degrees,” Schnadt said. “Lake County is the third largest county in Illinois and there are many corporations headquartered here, so it made sense to fill the higher education vacuum that existed here. So many people are now benefiting from the University Center’s presence in Lake County,” said Joel Williams, Executive Director of the University Center. Even though there are many institutions offering courses in the same facility, students choose a program and follow that institution’s coursework. They do not move between programs. “Until, of course, they graduate,” Schnadt said. “We’ve had a number of ‘double alumni’ who completed both undergraduate and graduate degrees here from different member institutions.” A University Center pre-admissions advisor functions as a guide to the various programs, helping students make that all-important choice.

18

Seventeen colleges and universities currently offer programming through the University Center in Grayslake. Only one – Webster University – comes from outside of Illinois. It is based in Missouri. “I feel that this is our greatest service to students,” Williams said. “Choosing a field of study can be daunting and overwhelming. We can help students compare their options and choose the program that is best for them.” Up to three schools may offer the same major through the University Center because, Dean Schnadt said, they often cater to slightly different niches like online versus classroom learning and public versus private institutions. “We won’t let everyone offer the same programs because then no one would be able to survive and that would be self-defeating,” she said. The University Center currently offers 120 different programs through those 17 different institutions, ranging from a graduate degree in nursing from DePaul University to a degree in English from the University of Illinois - Springfield. Webster University, the only program from a state other than Illinois, even offers a master’s degree in cyber security and Deerfield-based Trinity International University continues to offer a Certificate of Christian Ministry through the University Center’s Waukegan location. For the most part, coursework for degrees can be entirely completed in Lake County or online. Only a few programs demand time on another campus such as the University of Illinois – Springfield’s secondary teaching licenser program which demands that students spend some long weekends in Springfield and Elmhurst College’s market research program which makes graduate students travel to Elmhurst for their last two courses so they may participate in group projects. But virtually all of the institutions encourage students at the University Center to participate

in their main campus graduation ceremonies if they so wish. As part of their service to the residents of Lake County, the University Center coordinates County-wide workshops on how to complete FAFSA paperwork for state and federal financial aid. They also hold “Taste of College” workshops for middle school students and their parents and offer Spanish-language workshops for high school seniors and their parents on the importance of college and how earning a college degree increases one’s employment outlook. Because virtually all of the University Center’s programming takes place in the evenings or on the weekends, the campus is offered at reasonable rates to corporations and organizations for use as a conference center during the week in order to bring in extra revenue. They are even equipped with an interactive video system which allows students all over the world to view proceedings in classrooms here. For more information, about academic programs, visit www.ucenter.org. Or, to learn about the conference center, see www. uclcconference.org.

PARK DISTRICT

Grayslake residents have wonderful, constantly improving recreational facilities and programming at their disposal so that everyone who wishes to do so can stay fit, healthy and engaged. The Grayslake Community Park District recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. “Since 1959, the park district has been providing high-quality parks and recreation opportunities to the Grayslake community,” said Grayslake Park District Executive Director Kristin Splitt. “A lot has changed from those early days, but one thing that hasn’t changed is our unwavering commitment to provide fun ways for Grayslake residents to stay healthy and active.” The Grayslake Park District has 33 park sites with over 240 acres of open space, wetlands, playgrounds and ballfields. Each year, the park district tries to replace equipment in at least one of the 23 playgrounds in its park inventory. The playground at Sunrise Park was scheduled for an update this year, so the park district used community feedback to select the playground design. The new playground was completed in spring 2019. The district operates the Grayslake Golf Course, a scenic and sporty 9-hole par 3 course that’s open to the public. Designed by award-winning Martin Design Partnership, the

course is only 1,200 yards in length and the hazards, bunker berms and greens combine for a memorable golfing experience. The course can be enjoyed by someone just learning the game or by a seasoned golfer trying to improve his or her iron play. The park district offers an impressive variety of programming all year long, including Pumpkin Fest, the Polar Express train ride, the Taste of Grayslake Family Picnic and Fireworks, an Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Performances in the Park, golf tournaments, a Mother-Son Superhero Dance and a Father-Daughter Dance. GO Grayslake is a new park district sponsored initiative designed to increase community health and wellness. Its mission is to encourage everyone who lives, works and plays in Grayslake to get moving for 30 minutes every day. Several GO Grayslake walking events are held throughout the year, including themed events like the Dog Days

of Summer Walk where people are encouraged to bring their dogs for a walk in the park. “Whether it is preschool students playing together in the I Love Learning Preschool classrooms or basketballs bouncing in the gym, the recreation center is always buzzing with activity,” Splitt said. The district offers programming for a variety of ages, including parent and tot music classes, a dance studio, preschool, youth basketball leagues, girls’ softball, youth sports classes, adult fitness classes, adult recreation classes and trips for adults and seniors. Day trips for adults and seniors are very popular, Splitt said. Groups regularly take trips to plays, museums, restaurants and casinos. The district provides transportation and coordinates trip details, so all participants have to do is show up and enjoy the day. Occasionally, groups travel to professional baseball games, take boat tours and visit historic landmarks. The park district offers a wide range of recreational programs and activities year-round. In the cooler months, the district hosts a variety of drop-in open gyms at the recreation center. With everything from basketball to parent & tot playtime, senior walking club to badminton, there’s an open gym activity for all ages and interests. For more information, visit at www.glpd.com.

LIONS CLUB The Grayslake Lions Club was formed with 36 members on May 29, 1940. At the GLC charter night in September 1940, Lions Club founder Melvin Jones spoke to over 200 people at Lakeview School on the corner of Lake Street and Belvidere Road. Lions are groups of service-minded men and women who are interested in improving their communities. The club meets the second Tuesday of the month at various locations around Grayslake. The club hosts several annual fundraisers such as the pancake breakfast in April at the downtown Grayslake fire station; the Terry Rockenbach Memorial Steer Roast in September; parking cars at Gurnee Days in August; and a poker tournament at Shooter’s Sports Bar first Sundays, September through December.

In additions the Lions Club supports several community organizations: P.A.D.S., Feed My Starving Children, Grayslake Police Department – Shop With A Cop, Aniridia Foundation International, Foundation for Fighting Blindness, vision care for students and adults, Grayslake high schools scholarship, Save A Pet, Toys For Tots, Special Olympics of Illinois, The Chicago Lighthouse, Leader Dog Program, Northern Illinois Food Bank, LIF Camp Lions, Help Them to Hear Foundation, Mary Bryant Home. ROTARY The Grayslake Rotary Club, a fun and informal group of people from Grayslake and the surrounding area, is a service organization that is dedicated to providing assistance to the local community and the national and international communities as part of the global Rotary International organization. The club’s contributions to the local community take the form of financial support for academic scholarships to students from the two Grayslake high schools; donations to the local food pantry; helping individuals with special onetime needs (such as a seeing eye dog); coordinating community projects such as Shop with a Cop; sending students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards; hosting a weekend youth retreat to assist in developing leadership skills; and other local projects that come to the club’s attention and that fit with its mission and budget for the year. The club also selects students for the Rotary District 6440 vocational scholarships. The club’s assistance to the national and international communities is usually related to disaster relief through direct donations or through donations to Shelter Box that provides temporary shelter and supplies to victims of disasters throughout the world. The club also

supports the Rotary International program Polio Plus and its mission to eliminate polio from the world. To conduct these charitable activities, the club engages in fund-raising activities throughout the year. The main fund-raising event is an annual wine tasting and silent auction held in early March each year. Another is the annual Kiss the Pig event held during the annual Grayslake Summer Days. Encouraging high ethical standards and respect for all worthy vocations has been a hallmark of Rotary from its earliest days. Rotarians abide by the four-way test of the things they think say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it

be beneficial to all concerned? The Grayslake Rotary Club meets for lunch on the first, third, fourth and fifth (if there happens to be one) Mondays at 11:30 a.m. and for dinner on the second Monday at the Vine in downtown Grayslake.
