Mayor’s Welcome Dear Rancho Mirage Residents, The steady hum of construction activity rising from various pockets of the City of Rancho Mirage this year has been unmistakable. Patience has paid off and pride is evident as several of our long-term projects come to fruition. Thoughtful planning has afforded the City of Rancho Mirage the comfortable position of being able to enhance the quality of life for residents as well as the experience of its many visitors. The boost to retail tax revenue that several of these emerging amenities and businesses are set to provide will play a role in securing the City’s future for generations to come. Along the Highway 111 corridor, there’s been noticeable activity at Desert European Motorcars. The addition of a brand new Jaguar showroom enhances what was already an outstanding selection of high-quality automobiles. Todd Blue, chairman and CEO of Desert European Motorcars is proud that with the addition of the McLaren automobile, Desert European Motorcars will be one of the few automobile dealers in the United States that can boast having the entire British luxury car collection on its showroom floors. Meanwhile at another point along Highway 111, the keenly anticipated remodel of Rancho Las Palmas Shopping Center continues at a steady pace. Already opened, boutique-style men’s and women’s department store chain Stein Mart, is attracting shoppers. Sometime late this year, an entirely new and easily accessible CVS Pharmacy, complete with drive-thru window, will start welcoming clientele. Other prominent anchor stores following closely on its heels will include Hobby Lobby and the pleasing addition of Greens International Market, a family-owned grocery store. Overall, residents and visitors alike can look forward to significantly increased retail, restaurant and professional service offerings in the newly refurbished center. Rancho Mirage Community Park was shuttered late last winter to undergo expansion and renovation. The reconfigured park will undoubtedly make a splash debuting an imposing new amphitheater on its expanded acreage. The latter will feature a 2,030-square-foot stage complete with overhead canopy to provide maximum shade and acoustical benefits. Look for it to play host to all sorts of events including live music, movies, plays, dance performances, and lectures in the years to come. Elsewhere in the park, there’ll be an inviting pedestrian promenade, an enlarged children’s play area, and pickle-ball courts along with our tennis and basketball courts. In a move that will surely delight both pet owners and pooches, the City plans to open the new Rancho Mirage Dog Park in early 2016. The expertly designed four-acre facility will be located at the southeast corner of Key Largo Avenue and an extended section of Via Vall. Noise-buffering berms will cleverly designate distinct grassy areas for both small and big dogs to run and play freely. Their safety is guaranteed by surrounding six-foot tall, wrought iron fencing complete with Sally port gates. Count on convenient bubblers to quench canine thirst. There’ll be plenty of parking available not to mention ample shade from a combination of canopies and trees. Dog owners can enjoy a respite on special “boulder” bench seating or take a cue from their pets and get some exercise themselves by taking a spin on the walking path encircling the park. Rancho Mirage is also setting its sights skyward. An observatory is to be built on the Rancho Mirage Public Library campus. This development is creating a buzz of excitement among astronomers around the Valley and beyond. Your City Council is receiving construction and equipment advice from the California Institute of Technology, an esteemed institute well-versed

14

in the complexities of astronomy and space travel. Cal Tech astronomers will lend guidance to the City as it makes important decisions regarding choice of telescope, exact placement and the educational programming that will follow. Geographically speaking, the Library is well positioned and fortunate to be surrounded by quality dark sky, which is essential for proper viewing of the heavens through an observatory telescope. The industrious hum of activity emanating from numerous points around Rancho Mirage is closing in on a crescendo. All these tremendous public and private amenities, and business and cultural opportunities are about to take hold, if they haven’t already, and will soon become a part of the fabric of City life.

About Rancho Mirage Rancho Mirage – An Oasis of Gracious Living There are many adjectives that can be used to describe Rancho Mirage, California: peaceful, beautiful, relaxing, verdant, convenient, warm, friendly, cultured, sunny, elegant, unfettered. Located in the geographic center of the Palm Springs Valley, 10 miles from Palm Springs to the northwest and Indio to the southeast, Rancho Mirage lies in a sheltered cove, spreading its green carpet across the desert floor from the Santa Rosa Mountains on the south toward the mighty snowcapped San Jacinto range on the west. Every attraction of this sunshine wonderland is quickly accessible: open desert, dramatic canyons, and the greatest golf courses in the world. The community rises above the surrounding valley at an elevation of 252 feet. Rancho Mirage has dry, clear air and low humidity, offering casual living at its unhurried, uncrowded best. Scores of corporate presidents and other chief executive officers — people who really know the meaning of daily pressure – come from everywhere to seek relaxation in Rancho Mirage. Rancho Mirage is the oasis of gracious living in the Palm Springs Valley.

16

Rancho Mirage is a 21st-century city, but it holds a legacy of Native American and European cultures. The Palm Springs Valley was home to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians for centuries before the Spanish developed land routes in the region to supply inland missions in the 1770s. Spanish Captain Juan Bautista de Anza and his party of 34 men crossed the desert in 1774 to open a route to coastal California. Their route was to the south of the Palm Springs Valley, as they skirted the Santa Rosas on the south side of the Borrego Valley. In 1848, California became a territory of the United States following the Mexican-American War. The following year brought the California Gold Rush of ’49 and led to statehood in 1850. Colonel Henry Washington and his troops made the first U.S. Government survey of the Palm Springs Valley in 1855-56. From the Civil War until the early 1920s, about the only human activities in Rancho Mirage were travelers headed to Yuma on the Bradshaw Trail and travelers passing through the area by train. The promotion of Rancho Mirage as a destination desert community began as early as 1924 with the efforts of Bert Davie and E.E. McIntyre,

who purchased hundreds of acres of land from the Southern Pacific Railroad. Bert Davie was an ardent promoter from Michigan who established a ranch house at Clancy Lane and built a northsouth thoroughfare to connect his new desert paradise to the Bradshaw Trail (the present-day Highway 111). He named this road Rio del Sol (Way of the Sun), which later became Bob Hope Drive.

Two other real estate speculators, Louis Blankenhorn and Laurence Macomber, are credited with giving the community the name Rancho Mirage when they launched a promotion of land parcels along Highway 111 in 1934, in the area between Bob Hope Drive and Indian Trail. While this subdivision was quite successful, the activity center of the community continued to be Davie’s Rio del Sol Estates through World War II.

Les Clancy, the first of the “gentlemen farmers” to build a home in the development, arrived with his wife, Helen, and brother, M.C., in 1932. The area was known to most as “Little Santa Monica,” named after the city they hailed from, near Los Angeles.

After World War II, Rancho Mirage saw a new era of development that would create the predominant image as a world-class resort and residential community, characterized by high-quality planned residential golf course developments.

18

The Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce was born out of the building boom created by the country clubs and the nation’s robust postwar economy. Businesses set up shop to serve the burgeoning community, and residential neighborhoods sprouted up in the Magnesia Falls Cove. The Chamber of Commerce was an important cog in the wheel of the community along with the Rancho Mirage Community Association. The Chamber promoted Rancho Mirage as a great place to live with wide-open spaces, spectacular views, and golf, all situated in the heart of the Palm Springs Valley.

as a unique, unparalleled haven in the desert, the city maintains many of the major streets and thoroughfares with lush, drought-tolerant median landscaping and street designs. Rancho Mirage residents will soon have no utility wires overhead blocking their views as the city completes the “undergrounding” of all utilities. With a permanent population of 17,416, Rancho Mirage expects the population to peak at 25,900 by the year 2020. Rancho Mirage hosts over a million visitors a year and is the winter home for an additional 11,300 people. Tourism is Rancho Mirage’s leading industry, and maintaining a relaxed, high-quality resort lifestyle is tantamount to its success. With forward thinking backed by a history of success, Rancho Mirage will continue to reign as the “Oasis of Gracious Living” in the Palm Springs Valley. In 2003, Rancho Mirage was named the best resort town in the world by the London Imperial Traveler Magazine. ■

The City of Rancho Mirage incorporated in 1973 and took on the task of promoting high-quality economic growth while maintaining the quality of life that initially attracted residents to the area. Its views of surrounding mountains, attractively landscaped streets, and golf course communities

make it a truly special place. Rancho Mirage has a reputation as a low-density, high-quality resort town. The city enhances this image by designing and maintaining visually distinct entry monuments, public signs, and architectural elements. To keep Rancho Mirage’s sense of place

Climate & Geography estled among the Santa Rosa Mountains, Rancho Mirage is an idyllic desert oasis for residents and visitors alike. Rancho Mirage is located in California’s Palm Springs Valley within easy driving distance of most of California’s larger cities. The beautiful landscape of the Colorado Desert along with Mt. San Jacinto and Mt. San Gorgonio (Southern California’s two highest peaks) create an absolutely picturesque home, and the close proximity to larger cities plus Rancho Mirage’s own booming tourism industry make for a practical and fruitful place to live. Speaking of fruitful … the climate of the Valley is conducive to growing several types of fruit. Before its boom as a resort town in the 1950s, Rancho Mirage’s oldest residents were drawn here by the rich ranching land. In 1934, Les and M.C. Clancy built the first Rancho Mirage house and ranch and began farming dates, grapefruit and grapes. Many other ranchers followed suit and the Rio Del Sol and Clancy Lane area became a popular location for date and citrus farms.

Just a few years later, the desirable climate again attracted people to the area. This time, instead of ranchers looking to farm, Rancho Mirage was noticed by celebrities looking to golf. Thunderbird Golf Course and Tamarisk Country Club were built in the early 1950s, enticing some of Hollywood’s biggest names to the area. This ideal ranching and golfing weather consists of approximately 350 days of sunshine per year. Temperatures are warm, and the average annual rainfall is just over three inches. Because of this beautiful weather, much of Rancho Mirage’s population is made up of seasonal residents escaping colder winter months elsewhere. The San Andreas Fault runs through the Palm Springs Valley making earthquake preparedness essential. The city has thorough emergency plans in place and residents are encouraged to do the same. Though Rancho Mirage does experience the occasional earthquake, there has not been any devastating damage in recent history, partially due to the stable bedrock foundation in the area. ■

World Class Golf The reputation as “Playground of Presidents” is well-earned, as many Commanders in Chief have teed up here, from Eisenhower to Obama and those in between. The iconic Tamarisk Country Club debuted in 1952, with Ben Hogan as their golf pro. In fact, Rancho Mirage literally started as a Country Club. As interest and population grew, so did the city. From professional golfers to Hollywood elite to the novice, it’s truly memorable to hit the links on one of these extraordinary public or private landmark courses. Rancho Mirage Parks ancho Mirage’s newest amenity is the expanded Rancho Mirage Community Park (formerly Whitewater Park) and its brand new outdoor amphitheater. The park was recently expanded to the west by approximately three acres and a 600-seat amphitheater has been constructed. It includes terrace seating and a covered stage that supports restrooms and other back-of-the-house facilities. Other additions to the park include a grand arrival drop-off and vehicular turnaround, pickle ball courts, exercise stations, expanded parking, pedestrian promenades, a state-of-the-art, automated and efficient irrigation system, LED landscape and parking lot lighting systems and new drought-tolerant plant materials. The previously existing basketball and tennis courts remain and the children’s play area has been upgraded with new equipment. The park is located at 71-560 San Jacinto Dr.

Blixseth Mountain Park

Magnesia Falls Mini-Park

Blixseth Mountain Park is located east of the Magnesia Storm Channel and the Rancho Mirage Elementary School off Mirage Road. This park was completed in 2000 and features native desert landscaping, walking paths and benches for observing the desert and mountain vistas. Considered a place to experience the natural beauty of the desert, the park offers visitors the opportunity for quiet solitude and closeness to nature not found in the other City parks. The walking trails are easy. (No water or restrooms.)

Magnesia Falls Mini-Park is located north of the Rancho Mirage Elementary School. Originally developed as a joint use park with the school district, policy changes and the cessation of the child day care center (operated by the YMCA but funded by the City), led to the dissolution of the agreement for joint use of school facilities for park-type uses. The City land still has an extensively landscaped parkway including a meandering sidewalk and landscape monument which ties into surrounding sidewalks and neighboring Blixseth Mountain Park. In addition, the City has a perpetual easement for the 10-space parking lot at the park. This parking lot provides parking and access to Blixseth Mountain Park.

Cancer Survivors Park Frank Sinatra Drive and Highway 111

Dedicated on March 24, 1996, the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park is located on the southeast side of City Hall at Frank Sinatra Drive and Highway 111. This beautiful one-acre park features a pyramid kiosk, tiled benches, ponds, a hillside waterfall, and sculptures. The sculpture garden was designed as a celebration of life and to encourage current cancer patients to have the will to fight. One of 22 such parks in the nation, this park was constructed by the Bloch Foundation as a gift to the community. (Restrooms available on weekdays in City Hall which is adjacent to the park.)

North of Rancho Mirage Elementary School

Michael S. Wolfson Park DaVall and Frank Sinatra Drive

Dedicated on Nov. 26, 1986, Michael S. Wolfson Park is located at DaVall and Frank Sinatra drives on a one-acre, triangular-shaped parcel adjacent to the trails system and the Whitewater Wash. This park has a Victorian theme that features a fountain, decorative lighting fixtures, benches, a Braille-marked trail and a fragrance garden. A recorded “welcome” from Dinah Shore and Frank Sinatra, who lived nearby, may be heard at the entrance to the park. The park was built by the City of Rancho Mirage in honor of former City Council Member Michael S. Wolfson who served on the Council from 1978 to 1986. In February 1988, the park was also the site of one of the first shaded bus stops in Rancho Mirage. (No restrooms.)

Rancho Mirage Dog Park Southeast corner Key Largo Avenue

The City of Rancho Mirage has developed four acres of municipal land at the southeast corner of Key Largo Ave into our very own state-of-theart dog park. The park will accommodate dogs of all sizes providing grassy runs for small dogs and another for large dogs.

Sunnylands Center and Gardens During the mid-1960s, Walter and Leonore Annenberg hired architect A. Quincy Jones to create a mid-century modern residence in Rancho Mirage which they named “Sunnylands”. Walter Annenberg was a renowned publisher and served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1969 to 1974. Jones was known both for designs that integrated houses into the landscape and for “statement” roofs. At Sunnylands, located at 37977 Bob Hope Dr., Rancho Mirage, Jones used overhangs to shield the interior from the direct sun, plus walls of glass to allow the climate’s brightness to fill

the rooms. Interior rooms flow into each other with an open expansiveness that mirrors the surrounding landscape. As with most mid-century modern buildings, the house features an exposed architectural structure with trellises, steel beams and coffered ceilings playing an important part in its look. Walls are made of Mexican lava stone and the iconic pyramid roof was created in pink to match the sunset glow on nearby foothills. It is considered to be the only purely modernist estate in the United States. A 90-minute Historic House Tour offers guests information about the Sunnylands Collection, the building’s architecture and interior design and the history of the estate as a private residence and a high-level retreat center. Tickets are $40 per person and are released in half-month blocks on the first and 15th of every month at 9 a.m. for tours scheduled two weeks later. They must be purchased in advance online. None are available on-site. Specialized estate tours focusing on birds ($35 per person) and the 200-acre estate’s grounds and golf course ($20 per person) are also available. These tours do not take guests into the house. Tickets for these tours can only be purchased in person on the day of the tour. First come, first served. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Aboard the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the world’s largest rotating tramcar, you will experience a breathtaking journey up the sheer cliffs of Chino Canyon. Begin the 10-minute ride at the Valley Station (elevation 2,643 feet) and end at the Mountain Station (elevation 8,516 feet). This is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Tolerance Education Center The Tolerance Education Center is the brainchild and life’s work of Earl Greif, a Holocaust survivor and Rancho Mirage resident. For obvious reasons, he is passionate about educating young people on the topic of tolerance, so he spearheaded the effort to raise money and see the Center built. Its exhibits range from the Holocaust, to discrimination against and persecution of African Americans, gays and lesbians, Native Americans and other groups. Bigotry in all of its forms is examined. The Tolerance Education Center also boasts a research center and a theater where films on the subject of intolerance are often shown. Located at 35-147 Landy Ln., Rancho Mirage, the Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the 2014-15 academic year, over 6,500 students from 107 area schools visited the Center and benefited from its message of tolerance.

The Tramway was completed in 1963 and modernized with the rotating tramcars in 2000. Tickets range in price from $16.95 for children to $24.95 for adults. Ride and dine tickets which allow you to dine in the Pines Café cafeteria at the top are also available, as are summer and annual passes. A more formal dining spot, the Peaks Restaurant, is also available, as is The Lookout Lounge, a full cocktail bar.

Health Care

Annenberg Pavilion inpatient wing at Eisenhower Medical Center

ancho Mirage residents are served primarily by three medical centers: Desert Regional Medical Center, Eisenhower Medical Center and John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.

Eisenhower Medical Center www.emc.org

As the Rancho Mirage area became more and more popular in the 1950s and 60s, residents began to feel the need for a hospital within the city to serve its growing population. In 1966, Bob and Dolores Hope donated 80 acres of land that would become the site of the new hospital, and

the Palm Springs Desert Classic golf tournament was used to finance the project. When Dwight D. Eisenhower learned of the naming of the hospital, he said, “I must tell you that it is the greatest honor I have ever received to have a medical center named after me.” In 1968, Dolores Hope was named the President of the Board of Trustees for the hospital. She served on the board for many years and was instrumental in the growth of the medical center. Today, Eisenhower Medical Center is a not-forprofit, comprehensive health care institution that includes the 540-bed Eisenhower Hospital, the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center at Eisenhower and the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower. The Betty Ford Center is also located on the Eisenhower campus.

Eisenhower Urgent Care, located at Rancho Mirage Medical Center plaza (corner of Monterey and Country Club).

An accredited teaching hospital, the Medical Center is renowned for its Centers of Excellence in Orthopedics at Eisenhower Desert Orthopedic Center, Cardiovascular at the Eisenhower Smilow Heart Center, Neuroscience at the Eisenhower Neuroscience Institute, and Oncology at the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center. Situated on 130 acres in Rancho Mirage, and with locations across the valley, the medical center has provided a full range of quality medical and educational services for more than 40 years for residents and visitors to the greater Coachella Valley. For more information, visit emc.org or follow the Eisenhower Medical Center page on Facebook.

Education Palm Valley School hen people think of Rancho Mirage, the name automatically brings to mind world-class golf courses, stunning mountain views, warm weather, and a laid-back lifestyle. What many people don’t know, however, is that on 38 acres in the heart of Rancho Mirage is one of the top Preschool-12th Grade schools in the country. Founded in 1952, Palm Valley School is a nonprofit, independent school that focuses on college preparatory education from the youngest grades up. Like its peers in the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), which include the top schools in the country, Palm Valley focuses on meeting the highest academic standards and leading the way in innovative teaching and technology. Students at

all levels of the school study foreign language, music, and art; learn public speaking skills; develop methods of scientific inquiry; and enjoy daily physical education. With its small class sizes and experienced teachers, Palm Valley is able to help each student grow and thrive. Head of School Robert E. Graves puts it best, “We are proud of our 100 percent college admission rate and we know that our students are far ahead of the national average on test scores and academic achievement. What I find most rewarding, though, is walking into our SmartLab and seeing first graders working with squishy circuits or watching high school students completing their Physics assignments using our 3D printers. It’s the feeling of community at our Homecoming football game and the sight of a 12th grade math club member helping a 7th grader with her algebra homework that really defines the school and makes it special.” Palm Valley has also built a reputation as a haven for artists and actors, with its art students winning multiple awards and the school’s drama program garnering dozens of Desert Theatre League award nominations each year. The school mounts an Upper School play each fall and a Middle School Musical every spring. Approximately 35 percent of all Middle School students are involved in the drama department’s production either behindthe-scenes or on stage. The English Speaking

Union’s Shakespeare monologue competition features Palm Valley students each year, as does the national Poetry Out Loud event. Athletically, the Firebirds compete at both the Middle School and Upper School levels, fielding teams in basketball, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, softball, cross-country, golf and tennis. Despite a “no-cuts” rule that encourages students to try new sports at any age, the school has won many league championships over the years, and prides itself on the character-building experiences that team membership provides. Above all, though, Palm Valley rises to the level of its independent school peers in its goals of individual attention to students and inspiring, passionate, and innovative teaching. High school students take English and History classes around large oval Harkness tables, where they are encouraged to think, debate, discuss and question rather than memorizing and accepting facts at face value. “We develop thinkers at all levels of the school, so that by the time they reach our Upper School, students are prepared to make connections, ask good questions, and develop and defend an opinion,” explains Mr. Graves. “We want to graduate students who can think for themselves.” All this, and that beautiful Rancho Mirage mountain view, too!

College of the Desert College of the Desert (COD) is located in Palm Desert, right in the geographic center of nine Southern California desert communities with over 400,000 permanent residents. The College offers more than 1,000 classes, 52 associate degree and transfer programs, and 52 certificate programs in 89 different course areas. The college also provides a full range of careertechnical programs and customized training programs for business and industries in all sectors. “Signature programs” are aligned with the valley’s blueprint for economic growth, including agriculture, hospitality management, science, technology, engineering and math, creative art, health care, green technology, early childhood education, media and transportation technology. Today, College of the Desert is in the middle of one of the most exciting periods in its history. Since the College opened in 1962, it has been serving the local community by creating jobs and income, providing area residents with easy access

to higher education opportunities, and preparing students for highly-skilled, technical professions.

Public support has also made possible expanded facilities in the East Valley at Mecca/Thermal and Indio. A new West Valley Campus in Palm Springs will soon be added to complement programs and partnerships in Culinary/Hospitality, Film and Television, Clean/Green Technology and Health Care. More than facilities, however, the driving mission to provide access to quality education in support of student success is the top priority at the College. COD’s amazing alumni are proof of the difference education can make. Everywhere you look in the Coachella Valley, you’ll find College of the Desert alumni, in every industry and every service – they are among the region’s entrepreneurs, elected officials, and employers. COD graduates power the local economy and help maintain our quality of life. You can learn more about the offerings of our valley’s largest provider of higher education at collegeofthedesert.edu.

Rancho Mirage High School Rancho Mirage High School is the Palm Springs Unified School District’s newest high school, opened to freshmen and sophomores in time for the 2013-14 school year, adding a new grade each year until now it is educating a full complement of 877 students in grades nine through 12. Their mascot is appropriate to their desert home. They are known as “The Rattlers.” In addition to the expected array of classrooms, laboratories and athletic facilities, Rancho Mirage High School houses at least two unique facilities/programs. First, the school is home to the state-of-theart Helene Galen Performing Arts Center, named after the well-known Coachella Valley philanthropist. In addition, it has also been announced that long-time sports agent Jerry Argovitz, a resident of Rancho Mirage, has donated $1 million to the Palm Springs Unified School District so that it can develop a sports institute in his name at Rancho Mirage High School to educate studentathletes about careers in sports. Argovitz recognizes that a majority of high school student-athletes have a desire to go to college to focus on a career in athletics on the

field, but few recognize the opportunities for a career in sports that doesn’t involve wearing a helmet or throwing a ball. This unique program, it is hoped, will expose student-athletes – and those who don’t participate in college athletics – to career paths that pique their interest and keep their drive in academics rolling.

Rancho Mirage Elementary School Rancho Mirage Elementary School is one of 15 elementary schools that are part of the Palm Springs Unified School District. It is a public elementary school for grades K through 5. ■

“Some of them have no idea that there are pathways available to them, and if they do have an idea, they certainly don’t have the mentors,” said Ellen Goodman, executive director of the PSUSD Foundation. “It opens many windows for students that they might not have realized were open for them.” The program is set up as a series of lectures or presentations led by Argovitz every other week from October to June. Each session will be 6090 minutes long and take place during the school day. Students enrolled in the program attend the lectures in place of another sports-related block in their schedule that day. In addition, students enrolled in the program will be invited to take off-campus field trips including visits to colleges, NFL games and practices. Rancho Mirage High School has also renamed its football complex after Argovitz. For more information, call (760) 202-6455 or visit www.ranchomiragehighschool.org.

2015 California State Fair “Brewery of the Year” The Coachella Valley’s Pioneering, Award-Winning Micro Brewery – Rancho Mirage, California While the craft beer movement seems like a relatively recent phenomenon, Babe’s BarB-Que & Brewhouse has been consistently creating award-winning brews in the Coachella Valley for the last 14 years. Dubbed “The Pride of Rancho Mirage”, Babe’s is the desert’s oldest craft microbrewery. It has garnered more than 30 medals and was most recently awarded 2015 “Brewery of the Year” by California State Fair, besting over 300 breweries. Their list of award-winning beers includes the Blackfin Lager, Honey Blonde Ale, Palm Springs

IPA and the hugely popular Belgian Vanilla Blonde Ale, which won Silver at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival and Gold at the 2015 U.S. Open Beer Championship. For a great night out, pair these well-crafted brews with Babe’s hearty fare. The chargrilled steaks and behemoth sandwiches are local crowd pleasers. There are special beer and top shelf promotions on Monday and Tuesday nights in the fun, casual Cheers-like gastropub concept.
