SEPT. 24-29 Les Misérables Celebrity Attractions With glorious new staging and dazzlingly reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo, this breathtaking new production has left audiences and critics awestruck. Set in early 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption. Stirring songs such as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “One Day More” and others make Les Miz one of the world’s most popular musicals. SEPT. 27 Miss Nelson Has a Field Day Imagination Series, Tulsa PAC Trust Return to Horace B. Smedley School where the Smedley Tornadoes have never won a football game. In fact, they have never even scored a single point! With such a poor record and a team that is out of control, kindhearted Miss Nelson comes to the rescue, enlisting the help of her alter ego, the ill-tempered Miss Viola Swamp, to coach the team and whip them into shape.

Rioult and his wife Joyce Herring, co-founder and associate artistic director of RIOULT, are former principal dancers for the acclaimed Martha Graham Dance Company. OCT. 5 Debussy’s Images Tulsa Symphony Opening with Rimsky-Korsakov’s brilliant and vivid Capriccio Espagnol, this program also includes an exhilarating journey through Mozart’s Posthorn symphony (Serenade No. 9) and Debussy’s whirling Images. Ron Spigelman conducts this classics concert.

Raised in the rich culture of New Orleans by a family of professional musicians, he has won three Grammys, written scores for Broadway, led the Tonight Show band, and collaborated with the likes of the Grateful Dead and Sting. But Marsalis shines brightest as the leader of his long-running quartet. Pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner are some of jazz’s preeminent players; together with Marsalis, they create an electrifying testament to jazz’s past and present. OCT. 8-13 Cats Celebrity Attractions Andrew Lloyd Webber’s wildly popular musical returns! Based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, it’s the story of a tribe of felines called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as the “Jellicle choice” to decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. The show’s most popular song is the nostalgic showstopper “Memory.” OCT. 11-20 The Drowsy Chaperone Theatre Tulsa When a down-on-his-luck theatre fan plays a recording of his favorite musical, the show comes to life onstage as he wryly comments on the music, story and actors. An engaged couple, a bumbling best man, a

desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone are all part of the mix in this uproariously hilarious and original parody of 1920s musicals. OCT. 13 Lysander Piano Trio Chamber Music Tulsa This exceptional young ensemble’s playing radiates intensity and sparkles with clarity. Their inventive programs enchant with a kaleidoscopic palette of musical color. On this, their third visit to Tulsa, the trio will perform works by Beethoven, Higdon, Ciupinski and Brahms. OCT. 18-26 What the Butler Saw American Theatre Company In this farce by Joe Orton, Dr. Prentice, a psychiatric doctor in an exclusive private clinic, is attempting to interview (and seduce) an attractive would-be secretary. When his wife surprises them, he hides the woman behind a curtain. The affairs multiply as Mrs. Prentice, being seduced and blackmailed by a young bellhop, promises him the secretarial post. OCT. 24–NOV. 3 Little Shop of Horrors Tulsa Project Theatre A meek floral assistant named Seymour stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Seymour as long as he keeps feeding it blood! This horror comedy rock musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman ran Off-Broadway for five years.

OCT. 25, 27 Carmen Tulsa Opera Bizet’s Carmen tells the story of a fiery, independent woman who drives a Spanish soldier to choose between duty and freedom. Performing some of the best known of all operatic arias ― the “Habañera” and “Toreador Song” ― are American mezzo-soprano Sarah Mesko, making her Tulsa Opera debut as Carmen, and former Tulsa Opera Young Artist Alexander Birch Elliott, returning from his Metropolitan Opera debut to sing the role of Escamillo.

prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses — did we mention mothers? — and why we only wear black. The quartet’s passionate commitment to diversity and excellence has made them a leading ensemble in educational residencies and community engagement. NOV. 15 Robert Edsel Tulsa Town Hall Robert Edsel educates audiences with over 100 images of items stolen by Hitler’s Nazis and with anecdotes about the scholar-soldiers who risked their lives to save artistic and

cultural treasures from destruction and looting during and after WWII. The author of two books and a documentary on the subject, Edsel is a recognized authority on “the monuments men and women.” NOV. 15-17 Legally Blonde Theatre Tulsa Theatre Tulsa’s Broadway Bound students (ages 14-18) present the inspiring story of Elle Woods as she journeys from sorority party girl to Harvard Law student.
