Our free lunchtime concert series is back for another fantastic year! The Brown Bag It series returns with four new shows for your viewing pleasure.
The mission of Brown Bag It is to offer the community a free opportunity to visit our building and hear quality musical presentations. Audiences are invited to bring and eat lunch during the concerts, creating an informal atmosphere.
This year, we kick off the season on October 2 with Kalyn Fay (Cherokee Nation, Muscogee), a Folk singer/songwriter born and raised in rural Oklahoma. Their songs are heartfelt, sonic explorations of their nuanced relationship to the landscape and people of the region that fostered them.
Next up, crowd favorites the Tulsa Festival Ringers join us to ring in the Christmas season. Tulsa Festival Ringers Inc., Tulsa’s only auditioned community handbell ensemble, is more than a musical novelty; it is an ensemble of musicians who specialize in handbell ringing. Their annual Christmas Brown Bag It show features your favorite holiday music and takes place on December 11.
On March 12, Cairde Na Gael, a traditional Irish band from Tulsa, joins us to perform Irish songs and dance tunes. With Kelly Lamb and Michael Roohan (both on vocals), Gene Curtis (acoustic guitar/banjo/whistle), and Eric RyanJohnson (fiddle and bouzouki), they have been a staple of the Irish music scene in Oklahoma for nearly 20 years.
Last but never least, the Tulsa Opera Filstrup Artists wrap up the season on May 7. Each year, Tulsa Opera engages up-and-coming opera artists as members of the Filstrup Resident Artist program. Join us as they fill the room with song!
We hope you’ll choose to join us for these amazing FREE shows! Find more info on Brown Bag It and other great programs at tulsapac.com/community-engagement.

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be a television legend? Or maybe you’ve wondered what it might feel like to be the first African American face portrayed on TV in South Africa? Or how it feels to be nearly arrested in apartheid South Africa? Or what it was like to grow up as an African American during segregation in the US?
If you’ve ever wondered about any of these things, World Stage Theatre’s limited run of “Baby, If You’ve Ever Wondered”: An Evening with Television Legend Tim Reid is your chance at some answers.
Actor, writer, producer, director, comedian — and more — Tim Reid is a fascinating man. Raised by his grandmother in the segregated South, he’s part of a generation that has seen things most can only imagine. Though acting was never one of his early goals, he eventually found himself starring in popular TV shows, like WKRP in Cincinnati and the television miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s It.
Television l egend TimoThy Reid
Since then, Reid has traveled the world, created his own production company and so much more. As you can imagine, that has given him an interesting perspective on life and a slew of captivating stories.
You can hear some of those stories when Reid hits the Doenges stage in September. On top of sharing his fascinating life, he also intends to take audience questions, making this event one for the books.
We hope to see you there!

What happens when our venue partner Theatre Tulsa brings in an award-winning New York City director to direct local talent in one of the most beloved shows released in the last decade? Pure magic.
Liz Bealko, originally from tiny Henryetta, Oklahoma, is now based in Brooklyn, where she has become an award-winning director/ choreographer and a member of the Actors’ Equity Association. Her directing journey started in 2017 when she resurrected the high school theatre program in her hometown, which has since become wildly successful and recognized by the likes of Kristin Chenoweth, Jeremy Hays, NBC and the Educational Theatre Foundation.
Since then, Bealko has traveled the country, even directing at her alma mater, Oklahoma State University. This is her second time directing for Theatre Tulsa. In 2022, she directed and choreographed their critically acclaimed production of 1776.
Now, Bealko is back and ready to take on Waitress, which was written by pop superstar Sara Bareilles. Beautifully written, the play centers on Jenna, a waitress in a small diner in rural America, and her relationships with her two fellow waitresses and others in the community.
“Humanity is written into the script,”
showcased. “It is a chance to support
“... you have to take a leap, take a chance, face
fear for things to ultimately change.”
go about their lives. Something she does for every show, with every actor from lead to ensemble, is to sit down individually and allow time for character development. Every character in the show has a name and a background, allowing audiences to watch as multiple stories unfold on the stage at once.
One of Bealko’s favorite messages of the show is the journey between the opening song, which states, “Some things never change,” and the closing song, “everything changes.” She states, “People can get stuck and stifled and feel that things will never change, and sometimes, you have to take a leap, take a chance, face fear for things to ultimately change.”
On top of the stunning script, Bealko hopes the community will come out to support the show because of the amazing local talent that will be
they leave with a little bit warmer heart. And maybe craving a little bit of pie.”

YOUBECAUSE OF
As a nonprofit, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center had a rough start. After one incredible year of separation from the City of Tulsa, the pandemic hit and closed our doors for 18 months — an impossibly long time for a fledgling nonprofit to survive. And, yet ... here we are.
Not only are we here, but we’re also doing more for the community than we’ve ever been able to do before. How have we rebounded with such speed and strength? Easy. Our incredible donors and the donors of our partners.
Thanks to the truly stunning amount of philanthropic spirit in Green Country, the arts have managed to bounce back. Here at the TPAC, we now deliver 10 stunning programs that educate, cultivate and advance the arts throughout the region.
We educate by empowering the next generation to learn, flourish and discover themselves through art. Our Any Given child program brings every Tulsa Public Schools kindergartner into our building
for a fun, free live show put on just for them! The Discovery Awards celebrate the best in regional high school musical theatre talent, allowing kids to compete for a chance to travel to New York City for free to learn from industry professionals.
We cultivate by celebrating local talent while bringing the community together through free arts experiences. The Orbit Arts Festival brings dozens of artists throughout the region together in our building for a free day of community fun and entertainment. Our Broadway Senior program allows those 50 and older a chance to take the stage while adhering to their needs.
We advance the arts by investing funds and resources in those creating incredible art throughout the community. We provide grants to our venue partners, like the Tulsa Ballet, to help ensure amazing art graces our stages. We also provide grants to all Tulsa nonprofits putting on plays throughout the year and much more!
Through these programs, and more, we serve those of all ages in our community. And people like YOU help us do it. If you’re a donor, THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts for working with us to make sure the arts continue to flourish! WE COULDN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU.
