RAVEN ROCK PIZZA
You can get pizza just about anywhere. But not pizza like this. Raven Rock Pizza has a light and flu y crust and fresh toppings that will have you coming back for more.
These 14-inch pies are made with homemade marinara sauce and premium mozzarella cheese. You can choose from many toppings, but the signature pizzas are where it’s at. The most popular is the Chicken Alfredo with chicken, bacon crumbles, alfredo sauce and a balsamic glaze. Another customer favorite is the Sweet and Fire with any choice of meat (we recommend the Italian sausage) and sweet-and-spicy honey.

COMIDA, SOL Y VIDA
Since opening eight years ago, Comida, Sol y Vida has been known for its chicken tamales. Other menu items include chicken and veggie enchiladas, paella, chicken and rice bowls, quesadillas, chicken salad, avocado sandwiches, and horchata and lemonade.
Owner Rosie Monhollon learned to make tamales in Honduras, watching her mom in the kitchen. She’s changed a few things about her mom’s recipe, like using grapeseed oil, olive oil and butter instead of lard. She also uses a variety of vegetables and free-range chicken. Monhollon, who was a registered nurse for 21 years, says making her food as healthy as possible is important to her.

MANILA ICE
Manila Ice is a Filipino food truck with a rotating menu of Filipino street food, and halo halo — a shaved ice dessert.
Owner Jimere Parker seriously knows how to cook wings — neither heavy nor skimpy, they’re simply unbreaded, deep-fried perfection. And, the sauce is boss.
“We understand that wings are only as good as the sauces they’re covered in. We take pride in producing fresh, big, bold flavorful sauces weekly,” Parker says.
He says the secret to crisp yet juicy wings is to fry them twice. Double frying is where it’s at.
King’s Way has 21 sauces, including 14 in-house options, to choose from.
facebook.com/kingswingstulsa
@kingswingstulsa
There’s nothing simple about these dishes — and we’re the better for it. Take the tocino, a cured and marinated pork belly that’s glazed in a rich sauce and served with a fried cloud egg. Other options you’ll find include lemon porchetta, blackberry-adobo wings, beef tapa and fried Spam. Lumpia — Filipinostyle spring rolls — are almost always on the menu and are a top-seller.
And then there’s the halo halo. This dessert is a party in a cup with layers of shaved ice and candied jellies, fruit, ube jam, condensed milk, ube ice cream, cookies and Fruity Pebbles.

SUBURBS
BIXBY
Bixby is a booming community with its school district being one of the fastest growing in the state.
Bixby features a plethora of outdoor amenities. Along the Arkansas River, Washington Irving Park features an arboretum and multiple walking paths. Lake Bixhoma is popular with anglers and kayakers. Countless sports events happen at Bentley Park Sports Complex throughout the year.
Harmony Bridge spans the Arkansas River and is perfect for food truck events or catching a breathtaking sunset.
Joe’s Farm is an organic farm that boasts a "You-Pick" strawberry season each spring.
There’s plenty to see and do in Tulsa's neighboring communities.
JENKS
On the banks of the Arkansas River sits a bucolic yet burgeoning community with plenty of things to do.
Since 2003, Oklahoma Aquarium, located at 300 Aquarium Drive, has been teaching visitors about the aquatic world. Visitors can experience Sea Turtle Island or the Polynesian Reef, walk through the shark tunnel — which houses the world’s largest collection of bull sharks — or visit far-o locales like the Amazon. Check the website to help plan your visit around the animal feed schedule, sea turtle encounter or shark feed tour. Numerous special events fill the calendar — like ZZZs in the Seas, a public sleepover, or the everpopular HallowMarine.
A walk down Main Street treats shoppers and diners to an array of storefronts. Along with a collection of antique shops, Main Street is host to restaurants like Kitch Cafe and George’s Pub, plus gift shops, a yoga studio, a bicycle shop and so much more. Nearby, the new Simon Premium Outlets open Aug. 15.
Along the banks of the Arkansas River sits Riverwalk, a collection of restaurants, bars and venues that deserve a visit.
Tulsa Riverside Airport sits on more than 700 acres with nearly 500 aircrafts based at RVS.
OWASSO
A booming suburb with plenty to see and do any day of the week.
Owasso is a golfer’s paradise with numerous clubs and greens available. Bailey Ranch Golf Club and Owasso Golf and Athletic Club are popular public options. The Patriot Golf Club is a private course that opened in 2010.
Owasso’s downtown is known as the Redbud District. Centered around Redbud Festival Park — a free, public space that hosts events all year — the area is perfect for an afternoon stroll. Shoppers can find plenty of clothing options, as well as cooking and kitchen supplies, home decor, a pharmacy and more. Diners descend on the popular MAD Eats (try the shakes), and downtown staple Giant Subs and Deli is a great place to snag a sandwich on the go.
Beyond the Redbud District, Owasso has several shopping destinations all within a short drive. Try Smith Farm MarketPlace for your big-box and chain storefronts. Across Highway 169, pop into Surcee Gifts and Home for a wide collection of quality goods. Head to 86th Street North for a smattering of locally owned retailers and food purveyors.
BROKEN ARROW
Tulsa’s neighbor to the east is packed with hometown charms and family friendly events.
Broken Arrow’s downtown Main Street — also known as the Rose District — has everything a trendy shopping district could need. There are highquality restaurants to satisfy any craving, upscale shopping and plenty of activities on this strip. Friday nights are made even better with a movie night at Laurannae Baking Co. With breakfast spots, salons, a yoga studio, steakhouses and boutiques, there is something for everybody in the Rose District. Complete with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, a library and an interactive water feature, there is plenty to entertain all.
ScotFest takes over Central Park on Main Sept. 13-15. The annual event is a celebration of all things Scottish, Irish and Celtic.
Several memorials stand at Veterans Park, located on the southern end of Main Street, right next door to the Broken Arrow Veterans Center, which serves as o ces for local chapters of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and others.
SAND SPRINGS
Founded in 1908, this western suburb is home to industry, growing residential communities, local retailers and an award-winning golf course.
Managed by Sand Springs Parks, the Keystone Ancient Forest is a preserve encompassing 1,380 acres near Lake Keystone of Cross Timbers forest, with some trees ranging up to 500 years in age. A recently opened visitor center sits at the head of several hiking trails of varying lengths. Visit the park’s Facebook page for a collection of special events, such as pet-friendly weekends.
Downtown Sand Springs is home to Triangle Park, a green space that hosts the community’s annual Herbal A air and Festival. Nearby find local storefronts like Big Dipper Creamery, Boulder Co ee, Little Venice restaurant, Coble’s Creations and more.
Each year downtown Sand Springs is home to one of the longest and largest nighttime Christmas parades in the state. Mark your calendars for Dec. 6 for the annual holiday tradition.
In the past several years, the River West shopping district, just o of State Highway 97 and U.S. Highway 412, has welcomed health care centers, local and national chain restaurants, as well as retailers.
