Film tells stories of homeless as rough sleeping figures soar AMY DENMAN A filmmaker who came face to face with homeless people’s stories has raised more than £6,000 to help give them a voice. University of Bristol student Owain Astles interviewed people forced to sleep rough, including Alan, pictured. Thanks to backers on crowdfunding website Kickstart, he has raised more than £6,000, which he will use to make a film depicting what the rough sleepers have told him using homeless and ex-homeless actors.

The theatre and Spanish student said: ‘It’s really important to me that it is as real as possible so it just made sense to do that.’ Owain used the stories he collected to create a script for his documentary drama Sleeping Rough.
