Many have been outraged by the actions of Donald Trump since he became US president. In fact, thousands took to the streets in cities across the UK, including Cardiff, to voice their concern over Trump’s travel ban on nationals from seven countries – Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria and Somalia. Cardiff’s city centre was filled with activists calling for Trump’s executive order to be reversed. However, away from the march, outside Cardiff Castle, stood two men boasting signs with the words

‘let’s follow Trump’ and ‘ban Muslims from the UK’. Flanked by police officers, the duo made their controversial message clear. Or did they? As events unfolded and the so-called Trump supporters were confronted by angry activists, it was revealed the demonstration wasn’t in favour of Trump, but the latest in a series of ‘social experiments’ composed by Sanaan Akhter and his friend Aiman Saif. Cardiff University student Sanaan has made a name for himself by pulling stunts to gauge the reaction of

the public and filming the outcome to post on YouTube. TUP spoke to optometry student Sanaan, to try and discover if he wanted to spread a moral message or become just another YouTube star. ‘It was to create an awareness and reach a larger scale audience than what the Cardiff protest achieved,’ he said.‘We know Cardiff well, and know it takes something special to reach the media. We wanted to show Americans that we stand in solidarity against injustices with
