Four student accommodations in Newcastle are yet to remove Grenfell Tower-style cladding. St James’ Point, Verde, Liberty Plaza and Tyne Student Living have not yet been stripped of the aluminium

designs in line with government guidance.’ A Liberty Plaza spokesperson said: ‘The cladding was not the same brand used on Grenfell, however Liberty Living has decided to remove all ACM cladding. We also took the decision to close Block D for the academic year.’
A spokeswoman for Downing, the company that owns Verde, said: ‘Downing’s team at Verde is in the process of securing building control approval for approved replacement panels to be installed on the sections of the building affected.’ Tyne Student Living are yet to reply.
