 AMY DENMAN A couple who stole a student’s suitcase containing £800 worth of belongings have been jailed. Kimberley Beardsley and Paul Jones, pictured right, followed the victim onto a train at Swansea and worked together to steal her suitcase before getting off the train at Port Talbot, where the pair rummaged through the victim’s suitcase in the station lift. Jones pawned a Pandora necklace from the suitcase within ten minutes of leaving the train on November 18. Police tracked Beardsley and Jones

down and searched the couple’s home in Station Road, Port Talbot, where they uncovered the majority of the victim’s stolen belongings, including a

personalised Apple charger. Beardsley and Jones appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court and both pleaded guilty on December 16. Beardsley, 27, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison and Jones, 43, was jailed for 12 weeks. They were also each ordered to pay £81 each in compensation and £115 as a victim surcharge. Investigating officer PC Jason Teear said: ‘I hope this case acts as a warning to anyone who considers removing someone else’s property from a train with the intention of keeping it for themselves.’
