Há 10 anos que o Centro Cultural de Lagos recebe no mês de Setembro o Festival de Flamenco. Este festival, pioneiro em Portugal, converteu-se num dos festivais de flamenco mais importantes fora de Espanha e recebe anualmente três espectáculos nos quais estão representadas as distintas artes do flamenco: frágua, piano, cajón, guitarra, canto e baile. Guitarras mágicas com identidade própria, baile de beleza e paixão e sobretudo vozes carregadas de emoção e festa. The Lagos Cultural Centre has been hosting the Flamenco Festival in the month of September for 10 years. This was a pioneering festival in Portugal and it has become one of the most important flamenco festivals outside Spain; every year it stages three shows in which the different flamenco arts are represented: fragua, piano, cajón, guitar, song and dance. Magical guitars with their own identity, dance full of beauty and passion and above all voices suffused with emotion and the spirit of fiesta.

O grupo Farra Fanfarra surgiu em 2008 e desde então percorreu pequenos e grandes palcos, carrinhas, festivais, rodas gigantes, descapotáveis, desfiles e comemorações que têm levado a música e a festa a públicos de todas as idades. Os Farra Fanfarra fazem música, circo e humor num único espectáculo.

Farra Fanfarra was formed in 2008 and since then the band has performed on stages big and small, in vans, at festivals, on big wheels, in convertible cars, at parades and at commemorative events that have brought music and festivities to audiences of all ages. The story features the following characters: the flyingcarpet seller Môdé-Ali, Al-Xeringa, his accomplice, and Marafad, an innocent purchaser whose ambition leads to his downfall. The show is imbued with the spirit of fairy tales and the stories of enchanted Moorish maidens that are so much a part of the popular imagination in the Algarve. The characters, if not actually magical, endeavour to be so, and all the immorality of their conduct provides the moral of the tale – not everything is what it seems, especially when you’re making a purchase…

Este evento tem como principal objectivo dar a conhecer a riqueza ornitológica da região algarvia, em particular da Península de Sagres que, entre Setembro e Novembro, se converte no principal corredor migratório de aves de rapina em Portugal continental. Durante estes meses, mais de 5.000 aves planadoras – incluindo Cegonha-preta (Ciconia nigra), Abutre-do-egipto (Neophron percnopterus), Grifo (Gyps fulvus), Águiacalçada (Aquila pennata), Falcãoabelheiro (Pernis apivorus), Falcão-da-rainha (Falco eleonorae), Águiaimperial (Aquila adalberti), entre muitas outras –, sobrevoam esta região, tornando-a na principal atracção nacional para os amantes do birdwatching.

The main aim of this event is to familiarise people with the wealth of bird life in the Algarve region, in particular in the Sagres Peninsula which, between September and November, becomes the main migratory corridor for birds of prey in mainland Portugal. During these months, over 5,000 gliding birds – including the black stork (Ciconia nigra), the Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), the Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), the booted eagle (Aquila pennata), the European honeybuzzard (Pernis apivorus), Eleonora’s falcon (Falco eleonorae), the Iberian imperial eagle (Aquila adalberti) and many others – fly over this region, making it the main attraction in the country for lovers of bird-watching.

A preocupação em relação ao ambiente e à preservação das espécies está também patente no tema desta edição, com cenas de animais em perigo de extinção, representados no seu habitat natural. On the theme “Animalândia” the 2011 edition of FIESA will be bringing us animals represented in a humorous manner, imitating human behaviour and paying tribute to figures from children’s and adult fiction. Concern for the environment and the conservation of species is also in evidence in this year’s theme, with scenes of endangered animals shown in their natural habitats.

Filip, Michał, Paweł e Bolek são quatro instrumentistas formados em Academias de Música prestigiadas de Varsóvia e Łódz, na Polónia, que decidiram tocar música clássica com humor. Criaram um musical de cabaret único no mundo, onde a música (e não as palavras) é a fonte do riso e da alegria. Filip, Michał, Paweł and Bolek are four instrumentalists trained at the prestigious Music Academies of Warsaw and Łódz in Poland who decided to play classical music in a humorous style. They created a unique cabaret musical in which music (and not words) is the source of laughter and fun.
