A FLEA MARKET WITH A DIFFERENCE
In the heart of Bilbao La Vieja, the most multicultural neighbourhood of the city, the calle 2 de Mayo hosts a bohemian, artistic and cultural flea market. A meeting point for people eager to explore, shop and enjoy the music and folklore. This market reaches its maximum splendour on the date that gives it its name, 2 May.
An old biscuit factory reopens its doors in Zorrozaurre, a traditionally industrial neighbourhood, reconverted into one of the most creative and alternative parts of the city. What started in 2009 as a gathering of friends is now the most popular activity in Zorrozaurre, with more than 2000 square metres, several pavilions, an area for designers/creators and another for families, residents and associations that share the 3Rs philosophy: “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.

In the centrally-located Plaza Nueva of the Old Quarter, this market brings together people and families who love collecting. Boys and girls swap stickers alongside art and antiques collectors to the sound of birdsong. The “pintxos” and “potes” on offer in the numerous bars and taverns under the colonnades make it a perfect place to spend a Sunday morning.
In the parque del Arenal, at under 200 metres from the City Hall, the usual covered stands become a melting pot of colours and smells that invite passers-by to a pleasant Sunday stroll.
