• Loro Parque’s new Katandra Treetops A new free flight aviary called Katandra Treetops occupying twice the space of the Royal Albert Hall in London is the latest addition to the exciting range of facilities and attractions available in this zoo and wildlife centre located in Puerto de la Cruz. The new attraction includes over a hundred different species of birds such as cockatoos, pelicans and fruit pigeons and at 27 metres high, it is one of the most impressive free flight aviaries on the planet. Katandra, which is the aboriginal word for birdsong, offers visitors to Tenerife the chance to hear the song hundreds of different species and subspecies of birds from Australia and Asia. New hotels • Vincci Seleccion Buenavista Golf & Spa (Buenavista) Opening soon at the end of February is five-star Vincci Seleccion Buenavista Golf, set in the north of the island. • Iberostar Grand Hotel Salome (Costa Adeje) Iberostar Grand Collection has added Iberostar Grand Hotel Salomé to its portfolio of luxury hotels. This adults-only five-star property is located on Costa Adeje and features a Thai Zen Space wellness centre. • Jet2 offers year round direct flights from Belfast to Tenerife (effective Oct 09) • Aer Lingus offers two new routes – three weekly flights from Belfast (effective Sept 09) and increased flights from Cork (to two weekly) • Ryanair offers new routes from Luton, Bournemouth and Birmingham (effective Oct 09)
