Christmas is coming early to the Central Valley. The Stanislaus County Fair and the Salvation Army are joining together for a Christmas in July Toy Drive. Bring one new unwrapped toy and receive one free general admission ticket to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds Summer of Fun FoodMaxx Arena Series presented by Coors Light. All toys raised for the drive will benefit the Salvation Army and Turlock Together’s Christmas Food and Toy Distribution on Dec. 18, 2021. The toys will be given to needy children in Turlock and surrounding areas this holiday season. The first 250 people to bring a new unwrapped toy to an arena series event will receive one free general admission ticket to that evening’s event. Turlock Together is a conglomerate of local businesses, churches, nonprofits and organizations that share the aim of providing for the less fortunate during the holiday season. The Salvation Army is the engine of the machine that distributes the blue barrels to participating schools and businesses for the collection of non-perishable food items and new toys. These collections are stored at the Turlock Fruit Company and then sorted through in the weeks preceding the December distribution day for the families who have registered. Each family is provided with a box of non-perishable food, a box of perishable food and a toy for children 10 and younger.
