Camden Health Improvement Practice is a multidisciplinary service which provides primary health care to homeless people and to those with substance misuse issues in Camden, North London. Once registered our patients have 24 hour access to healthcare. Some of the services we offer include general health care, benefits and housing advice, and alcohol and drug advice amongst other services. *Tracy I enjoy my time out with my outreach worker, and it’s gone to the point where she’s taken me to the hospital, the doctors and we have coffee and everything. I don’t find myself opening up to everyone, so I find it’s nice to know that I feel a bit safe with someone. I don’t normally like outside people coming into my life but my outreach worker is really special. She’s not overpowering, that means something. I don’t like these people focusing like a looking glass on your life, but this lady is very special. I’ve made a little bit of a friendship with my outreach worker and I think she’s been a bit of guidance to be honest, because I don’t usually tolerate that from anyone you see. She’s fine, she’s really good, and I think she’s very approachable. Non-judgemental.

*Erica In terms of supporting me through my journey to recovery, Turning Point have been of great help to me. They’ve probably saved my leg, I’ve got this big bandage on my leg, basically I have to get it done twice a week because I’ve got a big ulcer on my leg. And I wasn’t managing to get some help on my own but since the new outreach worker’s been there, it’s been much better. I don’t know if there is anything you can improve. It’s great, it’s really helpful in every way, and as I say, my health has greatly improved since the new outreach worker has been here. Without Turning Point I reckon my health would be in great jeopardy. As well as from this leg, I had a lump in my breast and I had to go in for that. I had missed the appointment about three times but having the help of a support worker to take me there, without her, I don’t know what I would have done.
