PUBLISHER’S NOTE Design Your Brighter Future Buckminster Fuller said, “The best way to predict the future is to design it.” This magazine, with our featured experts, our website, our many events and even our Facebook group, are here to support you in doing just that. When you design a future for yourself, it is always a bright one. The challenge is that too many women do not take enough time for planning their future. Sure, many think about it. That is only the first step. Next, write it down, create a plan to make it happen and then add some support and accountability. Soon it will be revealed. Make this the year you create your ideal life at home and in your business. Give yourself a theme for the year. This year, mine is Extreme Self-care. The way I interpret that is any action, any amount of time, any decision is warranted if it promotes my theme. What is yours? I am so thrilled to have Andrea Woolf as our cover woman this month. She is a visionary who always has a smile on her face. DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE ENVISION YOUR Dream Business with Ease By Laurie Zerga Have you ever dreamed of working with clients like fortune 1000 corporations, big institutions or government agencies? Did you immediately reject it because you had no idea where to start? Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.” It can be fun to step back and imagine working with a big company. Often, business owners forget to envision their dream business. Now is a good time to create a vision.
You have now taken an important step. Do you feel energized? If so, you are on the right track. If you feel overwhelmed, notice if this is your dream or what you think you should be doing. Refine your vision until you feel light. Next, define an action to take toward your dream. When you act, desires and intentions take form. If you can dream it, you can create the reality, stay focused and act. Find more ideas in my Free Strategy Workbook gift. Laurie Zerga, founder of Feminine Power Flow, combines passion for relationships, community and business to support women entrepreneurs. She successfully navigates many roles society mandates of women. While raising two daughters, she climbed to an officer position at a Fortune 500 company. Since 911, she transitioned from consultant to entrepreneur, launching Chef-K® nationally. Now she helps women reclaim their true self and feminine power to lead their dream business life through coaching programs, speaking and workshops.
Take a moment to envision your ideal business AND how it integrates with your whole life. Typically, there are five categories to people’s lives; health, relationships, vocation, time/money and spirituality. Your business is your vocation. How does it fit in with the rest of your life? Describe your idyllic lifestyle. Define as many details as possible, feel it, smell it, hear it. Write some notes related to the following areas: Health practices – Relationships – Business - Time/money – Spirituality Once you have an idea of how your business supports your life, go deeper into your company. Envision your dream business. It’s okay to visualize clients like banks, technology firms, national chainsas big as you can imagine. Consider these areas: • Describe your team. • What kind of a leader would you like to be? • Describe your ideal clients. • Describe your vendors and service providers. • Describe your business financials. 10

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE BIGGER Visibility = BRIGHTER Future By Linda Basso Last year was a success and you loved it. This year you’re hoping for some bigger visibility that will move your business even further. But how do you conjure up larger opportunities with ease? Soar your visibility gracefully with these tips: Upgrade Your Network. You can identify and step into new communities that are playing at the level where you want to be. Be brave. Create an environment around you that not only wants you to shine more brightly, but also gives you the opportunity to do so.

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE CREATE CHANGE with Vision and Action By Diane Halfman Any meaningful change requires both a compelling vision and a plan of action. To create a future that makes you excited and proud, you first must get specific about what you want your life to look and feel like. Once you can vividly feel your vision, you can get to work on transforming that vision into reality. This requires an action plan that sets you up to win and anticipates the challenges that might arise.
Why not immediately remove the “stuff ” that is cluttering up your life and blocking your vision? Is junk mail piling up? Try placing a recycling bin right where you enter your home. Immediately throw out any mail that you don’t need. Cabinets overflowing? Reduce the number of place settings in your kitchen cabinets from 16 to 8. Get rid of these “cupcakes” from your environment and you’ll have a better chance at turning your vision of your dream home and life into a reality. Diane Halfman is a speaker, collaborator and healer. An expert in the Nine Environments representing a well-rounded life, Diane’s gift is to step into any surrounding and determine what is holding you back. Complex problems become simple solutions as she intuitively guides you into an elevated life you’ll love!
When these challenges appear, most people tend to use willpower to keep their vision alive. With New Year’s resolutions, for example, it’s common to hear things like “No pain, no gain” or “I can DO this.” Unfortunately, our willpower is destined to fail over time. As humans, we are wired to avoid pain. This means our resolution eventually fails, and our vision doesn’t materialize. Instead, focus on changing your environment and setting yourself up to win. Your environment impacts everything. If you’re trying to lose weight, would you put cupcakes on the counter, and stare at them all day saying, “I’m not going to eat those,” OR would you not bring cupcakes into your house at all? If you are looking to reduce clutter in your life and create more peace, calmness and happiness, change also begins with your environment.

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE THREE WAYS TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA to Vision a Brighter Future By Diana Morgan The Internet is a powerful force for positive change in the world. Here are three empowered ways to use social media: 1. Marketing is Life or Death —Share Your Message of Transformation on Social Media! Does what you do save lives? If you are a healer of any kind, you save lives. Your people need you! If you are not getting your heart message out to your people, you yourself might be dying inside. I believe we have reached the time when we must really own who we are and what we came here for. To do our soul’s work and be willing to shout it from the rooftops. Share how people are transformed by the work that you do. Share stories of transformation.
3. We Need the Inspiration and Wisdom of Our Younger Generations — Share Their Message I encourage you to approach social media as the powerful tool that it is. Look for things to LIKE, comment and share that reflect your vision, values and message. Look to people from the younger generations on social media who are thought leaders and visionaries and share their messages. If you look for them, you will find them! Diana Concoff Morgan, business marketing coach, author and speaker, is passionate about coaching entrepreneurs to grow their businesses. She specializes in online and offline strategies; showing you how to apply them to your business to get results. Diana has over 20 years of experience, building 2 of her own successful businesses using the strategies she offers her clients. She understands the struggles and challenges of building an effective, authentic online presence and has the patience and know-how to help you. She offers in-person and virtual trainings and "done-for-you" Internet marketing services. She can be reached at diana@wholeheartmarketing.com.
2. Our Younger Generations Need Our Wisdom and Inspiration — Share Hope You have an opportunity on social media to share whatever you want to share. Often I hear people say they don’t know what to share or they are overwhelmed just being on Facebook. Here are some suggestions. Share your message of hope and inspiration. Share other people’s messages of hope and inspiration. When you are reading people’s posts on social media, share what touches your soul, brings a tear to your eye or joy to your heart. Think about the positive footprint you want to leave on the Internet and let yourself be heard through that filter. 16

BRIGHTEN UP Your Business and Your Future By Caterina Rando, Publisher TWIB Magazine Every year is another opportunity to contribute in a new way, to do something we have not been able to do and to look at how we can do what we do better. Here are some ideas to support you in doing what you do better and making this your best year ever. Examine your mission and vision. Take a look at the reason you are in business and make sure it is still congruent with your philosophy and how you are serving your clients. See if there are any adjustments you want to make as you move forward.
DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE Evaluate your pricing. If you have a full client base but you are not making a lot of profit, you are probably not charging enough. If you are selling your services with ease, maybe it is time for a price increase. Shine the spotlight on your fees and see if they need to be adjusted. The more time you take to review what you are doing now and make improvements for your future, the brighter it will be. Apply these ideas and see the positive impact on you and your business. Caterina Rando is the founder of the Thriving Women in Business Giving Community. As a mentor to women in business on a mission, Caterina invites you to join her at an upcoming live event for women. Visit www. caterinarando.com/events
Reconsider your values. The values by which you run your business are guidelines for decision making you use every day. Think about any additional values you want to use to guide your work like integrity, efficiency or community. Take the temperature of what you offer. Just because you offered a product or service last year does not mean that you need to offer the same thing this year or that you have to offer it in the same way. Decide if you still want to do what you have been doing the way you have been doing it. You may want to change things or make upgrades. Review your costs. Sometimes we are so busy running our businesses that we do not notice when the cost of doing business goes up. Or we do notice, but we do not take the time to stop and evaluate how that is impacting our business. Now is a good time to review your cost of doing business.

Business needs cash flow like you need oxygen. It is vital for your company to grow well. Creating clarity allows you to make more money AND keep more of what you make. Here are four ways to grow your business well. 1. Know who your customers are and increase the number of the type you want. Once you know why your business matters to your customers from their point of view, you can plan on increasing your market share. Go deep, not wide. 2. Increase the number of times your customers buy from you. Develop relationships and stay top of mind. Be of service so they are thinking of you all year round. No more one and done. 3. Increase the average value of the sale. This comes down to pricing. Remember, you do not charge what you are worth. You charge for the value of the results you provide your customers. 4. Improve your business processes. When do you bill for serviceswhen the project is complete? How is your collections process? Have you 20

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE WRITE YOUR BOOK This Year By Dr. Shira Bush I am excited about all the topics and information that I can share with you. I look forward to sharing my article with you every other month, and I want you to be excited and look forward to reading it as well! As we welcome the New Year, I’d like to start with an invitation for you “To Write Your Book This Year.” You know the one. The one that you have been thinking about forever. Stop talking about it and just sit down and write it.
You wouldn’t believe how many people I meet who tell me they have a great idea for a bookif only they had the time to write it! We all have excuses and circumstances that get in our way. However, ask yourself what is important to you and your business? If the commitment is important enough to you, you will make the time.
Dr. Shira Bush, is a distinguished and accomplished international speaker, author, philanthropist, entrepreneur and developer of advanced book marketing systems. Shira is the founder and chief book officer of The Book Creator and inspires driven small-business owners, entrepreneurs, speakers and trainers to become an author in 90 days without writing a word.
Here are eight simple tips to get you started: 1. Just write. Fix it later. That means do not worry about anything, just write! 2. Make it a habit. Carve out an hour or two early in the morning before the rest of the house gets up, or before you go to work. 3. Writing is a job. Treat it like one, it’s not a hobby; it is work. 4. Be ruthless in managing your time. Use thirty-minute or one-hour intervals during which you may not do anything but write. 5. No checking email! It interrupts our attention span and fragments our concentration. 6. Set interim goals. Write 1,000 words a day or a specific amount each day. 7. Work toward a deadline. Everyone needs deadlinesself-imposed or by others. 8. Reward yourself. Promise yourself rewards for getting work done. When I finish this paragraph, I can have another cup of coffee. 22

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE BIGGER VISION Evolving Brand
to refine your mission statement, upgrade your elevator speech, check your website content along with the look and feel of your branding, and determine what needs elevating.
By Tammy Tribble
Your brand and all your business communications should mimic your message, speak directly to your ideal peeps and magnetically draw them to your products and services. If not, it’s time to evolve your brand to match your bigger, more exciting vision.
Many entrepreneurs start their business because they love what they do, know they have massive value to bring and want to help others. They tentatively dip their little toe into the entrepreneurial pool or they dive right in. Either way, they start with a mission, a goal and an idea of whom they will serve and how. This shapes their brand and is the basis for the vision for their business.
Tammy Tribble is the founder of Mimetic Design Systems, Inc., where she works with entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, and business owners who are ready to stand out from the crowd and make a difference within their target markets. She is a branding specialist, providing businesses with communication and marketing materials designed to tell everyone about their amazing business. She helps her clients fulfill their dreams and make their vision a reality! Contact Tammy at 510-881-8446, or tammyt@mimeticsystems.com.
As the business grows and they serve more peeps, entrepreneurs find that they need to be open to a bigger vision and allow their business to experience massive growth in ways they never imagined. Some ways your business can grow and evolve organically: • Your clients ask for services you didn’t realize they wanted. • You decide you prefer doing some services over others and start phasing out the less desirable ones. • A whole new clientele is attracted to you and you alter your offerings to serve them. • You uncover a need you didn’t see when you started your business. • You unearth hidden potential for growth and gain clarity on your next steps. • You find your passion and modify your business to fuel that passion and joy. Now that you have a bigger vision for your business, it is time to do a brand check to ensure it evolves too. Don’t force your new, more exciting vision into your existing brand without checking to see if it is congruent. You may need 24

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE EMBRACE HAPPINESS to Brighten Your Future in 2017
When life throws challenges and obstacles in the way, remember that the only thing you can control is your reaction. Choose happiness. Choose to see challenges and mistakes as learning opportunities to grow and to learn.
By Lee Richter
Keep a daily gratitude journal. Each day, list three things you are grateful for. This increases your happiness dramatically. Commit to being happy, do the work and become happier, making 2017 your best year ever.
Did you ever take a class about “Happiness?” I wish it had been offered in my high school or the college I attended. In 2011, someone I knew and cared about killed herself and it was a shock to me. I realized how unhappy she had been. Because I knew I never wanted that to be me, I began to focus more on my happiness. I brought a happiness coach into my life and took classes to learn that happiness is a choice. It is. We can choose to be happy or not. I began to offer classes to my team to share happiness with them too. Some of them told me that it made a profound difference in their lives at work and at home.
Lee Richter is an innovator and for more than 30 years, she has built successful and dynamic community-driven businesses. Her unique vision and system generate massive results, proven by her highly successful companies, which produce millions of dollars, hundreds of jobs, support communities and educate thousands of people all over the world. Lee has been working with happiness experts for many years and www.sharehappinessnow.com is her passion project she shares with the world.
In the following year, the Harvard Business Review splashed a big yellow happy face on its cover and announced that companies should pay attention to happiness within their teams. We were ahead of the curve. We were already paying attention to bringing more happiness into our lives. Yay! It sounds so easy, doesn’t it? Well, it is not always easy. Happiness is a science, and like all things, it has to be understood, accepted and implemented. Follow these ideas to add more happiness in your business everyday: As you start each day, choose a positive mindset. When you do this, you look for the good around you in your life. It is a daily practice.

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE LIBERATE YOUR SOUL Through GLOW By Katie Macks I’ve had so many conversations with people looking for that magic bullet outside of themselves to fix the pain in their lives. Truth be told, there is no magic bullet. In order to get to where you want to go, it takes hungerhunger for change, to stand in your truth and to get off being “RIGHT” about your beliefs and assumptions. Hunger to be authentic and to live a much bigger life in which you can see, feel and own your gifts, and then contribute them to humanity.
Liberation and freedom take courage, work and a commitment to invest in yourself for the rest of your life. I invite you to declare what you want for your life and allow yourself to walk through your FEAR: Face Everything and RISE!
Katie Macks, owner of Get Your Glow On, LLC, is a Certified Relationship Coach, leadership trainer, author and speaker. Katie is passionate about helping women transform their lives with awareness and accountability, so they can regain freedom of choice and experience trusting, meaningful relationships with themselves and others. www.getyourglowon.us
We live in a culture of quick fixes. People are always asking me for the magic bullet that will liberate them from the bondage of their thoughts and beliefs that seem so real and have become habituated over the years. Here’s my truth. To make deep changes in your life, it requires GLOW: a desire to Grow, to Love and Be Loved, to Be Open and to be Willing. It also requires investing in your personal development. Change does not come easily to most human beings. We hold on to what we know, rather than being willing to be in the unknown. The magic in life lives in the realm of the unknown. This is where you learn, grow and GLOW. Instead, we choose to reside in our comfort zone, rather than being willing to do what it takes to break through old beliefs and patterns that keep us stuck. We then live in hope that the patterns and stories that have stunted our growth will magically disappear for good. 28

All About Business
DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE
YOUR Financial Sandcastle
Did you realize that life insurance is considered property? The right product never goes down and always goes up. It can have creditor protection, no probate and it’s private!
By Lu Casillas
J.C. Penney, Disneyland, Pampered Chef and Foster Farms were built with this tool. You can be your own bank. It’s called “The Bank On Yourself Method.” It saves on taxes and it’s 100 percent tax-free to whom you choose to leave it. Is your sandcastle sturdy or is it washing away? Let’s talk.
Is your financial sandcastle sturdy or is it washing away? I had the pleasure hearing Michael Bernard Beckwith, founder of Agape, speak about goals using a sandcastle analogy. It made me think of how we as a population can be that way with our finances. It is time to take innovative action with regard to our finances, especially this new year 2017. There are actions that were taken before the election that will be game changers as we, as a country, move forward.
Lu Casillas, is the educator and creator of Blend2Day, supporting women to find Balance in Life, Educating one another through Networking, and making their Dreams become reality. As a specialist at FCA, it is her goal to help women create a wealth preservation strategy that allows access to funds while also building a lifetime income stream.
We’ve been headed toward an economic adjustment for a while. One important issue is that in October 2016, a decision was made that the government will no longer be responsible for bailing out banks. In simple terms, they will be able to use your deposits as their personal assets, meaning no FDIC coverage, and in the case of a market crash, you will not have immediate access to your funds. For more www.USAWatchdog.com (Greg Hunter) As a society, we are very comfortable with what we are repeatedly told to do with regard to our money. For example, 401K, gold, or stocks and bonds. But why is it okay for you to subject your hard-earned money to volatility and fees? Although diversity is important, you need access to your money and to learn other available options.

DESIGN YOUR BRIGHTER FUTURE WHERE to Focus When By Laura Gisborne You can achieve anything you want when you focus your energy and passion. Your passion may be about your business, but your focus may be on responsibilities: your day job, your partner, your kids or your parents. Focus becomes easier when you have systems in place to help your business run smoothly. I learned this by starting multiple businesses and getting completely burned out. Systems were my salvation! There are three major phases most businesses go through, each with action steps. Below are some highlights from a checklist I created to help my clients navigate each phase.
Phase 3: Honing Your Practice. Now your business is known and you are feeling more confident and established. It is time to gain momentum. Action Items: • Hire an assistant. • Plan your marketing a year at a time and include more launches. • Host live events. • Schedule a vacation! Be patient and enjoy the process. The more you are willing to embrace it and enjoy each phase, the more resilient you will be to the rollercoaster ride that is entrepreneurship. Laura Gisborne is a highly successful business expert. She has owned nine companies, ranging from small boutique businesses to a multi-million dollar wine and real estate empire. The innovative business model of her current company, Legacy Leaders Global, exemplifies that businesses can be both profitable and purposeful. Through her initiatives, thousands of people are receiving regular contributions in multiple countries across five continents. Visit www.laurafreebook.com today and download your complimentary copy of Stop the Spinning: Move from Surviving to Thriving.
Phase 1: Getting Started. In this phase you establish your identity. Action items: • Identify your ideal client and niche market. • Create products and services tailored to their needs. • Participate in sales and marketing training. • Develop your marketing strategy and language. • Set up your email list and website. Phase 2: Expanding Your Reach. In this phase, your website is up and running, and your email newsletter goes out regularly. It is now time to expand your online presence. Action items: • Establish your social media marketing. • Offer free trainings or webinars, or record your programs to develop info products. • Speak at events. • Develop strategic joint-venture alliances.
