WOW WRAP-UP

Special Edition

Volume 30, Issue 1

Greetings! At our last district event, Weekend Officer Workshop (W.O.W.), the board worked together to compile all the useful information gained by each attendee. Yes, there was a lot of information crammed into two days but if you missed or forgot something, you need not worry. Governor John Cano wanted a special edition of the T-O Today for that reason. This edition, “WOW Wrap-Up”, contains information on all the programs and projects that we, as a district, plan to implement this year. Each article contains information that one can use when describing what exactly we do and how we differ from other service organizations on campus. By participating in the International Service and Fundraising Initiative projects, along with the Key to College and Diversity programs, the T-O CKI District clearly plans on having a very successful year. Each project/program is different in its own way, but they all share the same objective, helping our youth. Throughout the year, each chapter will have the opportunity to participate and contribute with the help of their Lt. Governor. The District Editor, Jennifer Choi, worked with different board members and even chapter officers of the district to produce this edition. Please immerse yourself with the information that the district board is providing you, it’s our job so take advantage of it! Yours through Service and Friendship, Monica Caudillo Southeast Texas/Gulf Coast LTG

Governor‟s Project

Bombs Away: An Explosion of Service

Bombs away in Circle K, as District Governor John Cano selects his service project for the year, cleverly titled "Bombs Away: An Explosion of Service." What does it mean, you might ask? According to the governor, the slogan means "quite simply, [each chapter should] do a ton of service or fundraising in one big event." The idea and logic behind his project of requesting each chapter plan a large scale event involves publicity, name recognition, as well as service to our communities. Essentially, the event should become a staple of the chapter's annual activities, while building the name of our organization. With a big emphasis on one or even two projects per year our communities will take notice of the work that Circle K accomplishes. In effort to achieve maximum results, chapters are encouraged to utilize press releases, the Circle K International Public Relations Guide, and involve all members of the Kiwanis Family. Chapters will have two options to complete the Governor's Project and receive credit for their actions. The governor selected these options on the tenet of inclusiveness, stating the system "allows for all of our chapters, big and small, to participate." The two options consist of either completing at least 100 hours at a single event as a chapter or raise $1,000 or more in a single fundraiser for the Six Cents Initiative.
