The TJC brand is the centerpiece of our visual identity. Brand integrity means making sure every message we put forth — both internal and external – aligns with our brand experience and values.
Branding extends beyond the visual, affecting how TJC is perceived by all our audiences; potential and current students, alumni, employees and the community.
Marketing efforts and communications should feature consistent themes and facts that stand for our institution’s mission, vision and values. It is important to express ourselves in a professional manner and our Brand & Identity Standards help ensure the consistency of the visual identity of our institution.
Each of us is a steward of the TJC brand. By understanding our brand personality and consistently adhering to the Brand & Identity Standards — as well as the way communicate — we strengthen our brand positioning.
Our brand is associated with our name, logo, distinctive colors and design elements that appear with them.

Using This Manual
This manual has been prepared to safeguard the integrity of the TJC brand and visual identity through the consistent use of its logos, type fonts and color palette. Please read this manual and adhere to the guidelines. Included are specific illustrations, diagrams and examples of the correct and approved ways to use all institutional logos and word marks.
Obtaining the Logos
Low-resolution logos are available for download to employees at TJC.edu/Marketing/Downloads or upon request. For further information, please contact TJC Marketing at 903-510-3163.
TJC licenses the use of its logos through CLC Learfield | IMG College. Only licensed vendors are allowed to reproduce the TJC logos. Vendors producing TJC products should obtain logos from our licensing partner, CLC Learfield | IMG College.
Institutional Colors
All TJC logos and wordmarks are comprised of specific colors selected from the Pantone Matching System (PMS).
The official colors for all TJC logos or marks are “TJC Black” (PMS Process Black) and “TJC Gold” (PMS 116).
PMS: PROCESS BLACK
CMYK: 60.40.40.100
RGB: 0.0.0
HEX: 231F20
PMS: 116
CMYK: 0.15.94.0
RGB: 255.205.0
HEX: FFCD00
Reproducing the Logos
When reproducing the logo in four-color process (CMYK), three-color process (RGB), or for the web (HEX) the formulas shown at left should be used to best match “TJC Black” and “TJC Gold.”
NOTE: The Harry the Hawk Mascot logo has additional colors defined on page 24.
TJC institutional logos and wordmarks are comprised of customized graphics and type. The College requires that highresolution digital files or camera-ready art be used for all forms of reproduction. Any attempt to recreate the art, type or spacing and styling of a logo could result in inconsistencies in reproduction, which would compromise the integrity of the logo.
Individual campus entities or departments MAY NOT design their own logos, wordmarks, signatures or print pieces outside of the parameters provided in the TJC Brand & Identity Standards.
Standards for Specialty and Promotional Items
Apparel and all textile printing of the institutional logos and wordmarks must be produced by a licensed vendor. The licensed vendor list is updated monthly and located at: TJC.edu/Marketing/Downloads
Ink and thread colors must adhere to institutional color specifications. If the PMS equivalent of ink or thread is not available, or if the selection of fabric colors are limited, it is recommended to print or stitch in a single color. Make sure there is sufficient contrast between the printing or stitching and the fabric background.
Using Outside Vendors
All merchandise bearing the name or variations of the TJC institutional logos and wordmarks must be purchased through a licensed vendor and approved through licensing.
Licensed vendors have access to:
• A copy of this TJC Brand & Identity Standards Manual
• All logos through CLC Learfield | IMG College
• Appropriate PANTONE/CMYK/RGB/HEX color configurations. Before your items are produced, be sure to ask for a proof of the artwork layout. This important step enables you to make sure that all identity standards are being met.
INSTITUTIONAL LOGO & WORDMARK
College Name
Many colleges and universities use their initials as their visual identifier and TJC is no exception. The name should appear as “TJC” on all college publications, marketing endeavors, pieces and collateral as well as communications. “Tyler Junior College (TJC)” may be spelled out elsewhere if further clarification is needed.
For state and federal reporting purposes, “Tyler Junior College” may be used followed by parenthetical “TJC.” E.g., “Tyler Junior College (TJC).”
Institutional Colors
All TJC logos and wordmarks are comprised of specific colors selected from the Pantone Matching System (PMS).

CORRECT COLOR USAGE
Color Reproduction
Adhering to the following color reproduction guidelines will create a consistent image and maintain the visual impact of the logo.
• When printing over a white or light background, the logo should be reproduced in full color.
• When appearing on a white or gold background, the logo must be printed in black or full color.
• When appearing on a black background, the logo appears reversed out in white or “TJC Gold (PMS 116).” Otherwise, the two-color logo must be used.
• Overprints should be on recognizable TJC colors and not on competitor schools’ colors.
Black/White Color Reproduction
Adhering to the following color reproduction guidelines will create a consistent image and maintain the visual impact of the logo.
• When appearing on a white or gold background, the logo must be printed in black.
• When appearing on a black background, the logo appears reversed out in white.
Institutional Logo
The TJC Institutional Logo is the primary visual identity mark of the institution and is to be used on all stationery, merchandise, printed publications and digital applications intended for on- or off-campus use. The logo always contains both the wordmark and the icon; but in certain approved applications, the icon may be used independently from the wordmark.
This logo is to be used in a stand-alone state only and may not be used with any other design elements.
Logo Sizing
The recommended minimum reproduction size of the TJC logo is 1.5’’ in width. Reducing the logos further would compromise legibility and the integrity of the logo reproduction.
If the reproduction of the TJC logo is smaller than 1.5”, then the TJC Wordmark should be used.
Incorrect Logo Usage
INCORRECT USAGE [SKEWING OR ROTATING
To ensure visual consistency and promote recognition, the TJC logo must not be altered in any way. Below are examples of some, but not all, incorrect usages of the logos. Logo proportions are not to be tampered with. No increase of width or height to fit spacing needs.

Institutional Wordmark
The TJC Institutional Wordmark is the secondary visual identity mark of the institution and can be used on all merchandise, printed publications and digital application intended for on- or off-campus use.
The Institutional Wordmark must be used if “TJC” is used in a design.
Safe Zones
The TJC Institutional Wordmark has a safe zone intended to maintain the logo’s integrity and to avoid visual confusion. No other type or graphic element (including folds, trims or edges) should fall within the safe zone shown.
When the TJC Institutional Wordmark is incorporated into a design, its placement must respect the safe zone defined as being — on all sides — to the “height of the leg in the letter T.”
Outdated Logos
The TJC visual identity system introduced in the summer of 2016 is the official identity system for the campus. Older designs that were created by or commissioned by TJC have been withdrawn from circulation. The outdated logos at right are not to be reproduced on any new publications or literature. On websites, replacement of outdated logos should be part of any planned update or redesign.
Any existing logo for any groups, organizations or departments that incorporate any part of an outdated logo must resubmit to TJC Marketing for approval to use.
