Pharmaceutical Sciences Analytical Suite
Introduction Situated in the University of British Colum足bia (UBC) Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sci足ences, the Pharmaceutical Sciences Ana足lytical Suite (PSAS) offers state-of-the-art research equipment available for use by the scientific community. PSAS consists of:
Illumina HiSeq 2500 and MiSeq 400 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer Vevo 2100 Ultrasound Imaging System UHPLC/MS/MS and Q Exactive Orbitrap systems
Illumina HiSeq 2500 and MiSeq Contact Dr. Corey Nislow | corey.nislow@ubc.ca | 604-827-7133
Illumina HiSeq 2500 The HiSeq 2500 features two run modes (rapid run and high output run) and the ability to process one or two flow cells simultaneously. This provides a flexible and scalable platform that supports the broadest range of applications and study sizes. Rapid run mode provides quick results, while high output mode is used for larger studies with more samples or when the greatest depth of coverage is required. Pricing • HiSeq Rapid Run 2x100: 375-425k clusters/mm2, 5060 Gb data, 600 million reads - $2,400 • HiSeq High Output 2x100: 375k-425k clusters/mm2, 33-40 Gb data, 37.5 million reads - $2,400
Illumina MiSeq The MiSeq offers the shortest sample-to-data workflow, capable of producing 2 x 300 paired-end reads and up to 15 Gb of data in a single run. This allows assembly of small genomes or detection of target variants with unmatched accuracy. Pricing • MiSeq short read 1x50: 880-965k clusters/mm2, 750-850 Mb data, 12 million reads - $940 • MiSeq paired end 2x150: 880-965k clusters/mm2, 4.5-5.1 Gb data, 24-30 million reads - $1,149
400 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer Contact Dr. David Grierson | david.grierson@ubc.ca | 604-827-3353
The Faculty 400 MHz NMR spectrometer is equipped with an automated sample changer and a multinuclear broadband fluorine observe probe (5 mm sample diameter). This instrument can be used to acquire routine 1H, 13C, 19F, and 31P spectra and a wide range of multidimensional NMR spectra. Variable high temperature (up to 100°C) NMR experiments can also be run. Treatment of spectral data is conveniently done on an offline workstation (Topspin software). Pricing • 1H NMR: $15/spectrum, or $40/hour • All multidimensional spectra: $30/hour • Per 13C NMR (night time accumulation): $30/hour
Vevo 2100 Ultrasound Imaging System Contact Dr. Kath MacLeod | kathleen.macleod@ubc.ca | 604-822-3830
High-frequency, high-resolution digital imaging platform with linear array technology and Color Doppler Mode. 30 micron resolution. Pricing • Data acquisition (including operator time, room use and supplies): Academic $70/hour; Non-Academic $140/hour • Data analysis and processing: Academic: $50/hour; Non-Academic $100/hour
UHPLC/MS/MS and Q Exactive Orbitrap systems Contact Dr. Wayne Riggs |riggskw@mail.ubc.ca | 604-822-2061 Dr. Frank Abbott | frank.abbott@ubc.ca | 604-822-2566
UHPLC/MS/MS system The UHPLC/MS/MS system consists of an Agilent 1290 Infinity UHPLC connected to an AB Sciex QTrap® 5500 hybrid linear ion-trap triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The Agilent UHPLC offers one of the best performance characteristics which is available today, and with the AB Sciex QTrap® 5500 system, mass spectrometry cubed (MS3) experiments are possible, which opens new a horizon in mass spectrometry. Pricing: ESI, APCI Mass Analysis (AB Sciex 5500 QTrap) Note: 1 hour minimum charge. • Mass Determination (flow injection or infusion, no chromatography), Low Res: Academic $50/sample; Non-Academic $80/sample • UHPLC/MS/MS analysis (with chromatography): Academic $100/hour; Non-Academic $150/hour
Q Exactive Orbitrap system The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive™ Orbitrap is a benchtop high resolution mass spectrometer (HRMS), which is well suited to untargeted or targeted screening with high-confidence confirmation in a variety of applications, and also, to the characterization of new drug discovery candidates with typically less than 2 ppm mass error. Pricing: Q-Exactive (Orbitrap) Note: 1 hour minimum charge. *Price may be negotiated with respect to specific assay. • Mass Determination (flow injection or infusion, no chromatography), High Res: Academic $80/hour; Non-Academic $120/hour • nanoLC-MS/MS analysis (with chromatography): Academic $200/hour*; Non-Academic $300/hour*
