MARCH 4th, 2017 ACCELERATING IMPACT PRESENTED BY
WELCOME TO THE CONFERENCE
Dear Delegate, This conference has been put together by the UBC Social Enterprise Club, a group of passionate students working towards creating changemakers, uniting students and social enterprises and bridging disciplines for a more collective approach to creating change. This year, we chose the theme “Accelerating Impact: Scaling Solutions to Social Challenges” because we believe that social entrepreneurs will inevitably face a critical juncture that the existing solutions are futile in making a wider impact in society. Therefore, the question we need to ask ourselves is “How can social entrepreneurs effectively scale their impact to reach as many people and communities?” Based on this question, this conference will revolve around the theme of how social entrepreneurs achieve transformational impact at scale. Today will be filled with a sequence of noteworthy social entrepreneurs whose sessions are not only meant to inspire but also challenge your thinking on how to use social entrepreneurship as a tool for creating change. By showcasing leading social entrepreneurs, we hope to provide further insight into the “scaling up” process. As you listen to all the speakers we hope you understand that these individuals have worked day in and day out to make their ventures successful in creating the change they envisioned. Most importantly, we want you to know that as a social entrepreneur, intrapreneur or changemaker you have the mindset and skills to innovate an idea into a sustainable solution and push the limits, question status quo and be at the frontline of positive social change. We hope that you will enjoy the conference as much as we do. Thank YOU,
Sean Lim Co-Chairperson, SEConference Theo Guevara Co-Chairperson, SEConference
