Hello UC Berkeley Circle K, Another month, another newsletter. Hope you all have been keeping strong with classes and all your other responsibilities and finish this semester STRONG. I hope you enjoy this newsletter and enjoy seeing through all our club has accomplished in these past months. I hope you all have a great winter break and remember if you have down time to do the CKI scholarship due in February!

For more information on applications, visit kiwanis.org and look for the scholarships tab.

become dues paying We're very excited to have a wonderful year with all of our members. This application is simply a way for us to keep track of our dues paid membership -- anyone can join our club at any time, and there are no requirements or obligations to join us! In order to become a member that is recognized at the District & International level, you must fill out this application and pay club dues of $20 for the 2021-2022 year. Please send your dues payment through Venmo to Treasurer Nina Nguyen (@neenacolada). Benefits of membership include access to District and International events, insurance at Circle K events, eligibility to apply for Circle K scholarships, networking opportunities with Kiwanians and recent Berkeley graduates, and many more!

YAY we officially started the scrapbook! We worked on cutting the pictures from events we've had this year and we're so excited to see how the scrapbook turns out !

Our MD&E meetings were so productive these past months! We brainstormed ideas for: Fairy Friends, Mentor/Mentee Revelations, Mentor/Mentee Competition Week, Assassins and the Spring Family & Mentor/Mentee semester-long challenge.

Our amazing family heads were so thoughtful and really put so much time and effort into making sure everyone in all families were having a great time and being able to meet new people at the same time! They planned events this semester like Assassins, Family Battle Royale and more!

Emeryville Social NOVEMBER 13TH

Wander out of Berkeley and explore other cities in the East Bay! We're headed to Bay Street Emeryville where there are tons of stores and restaurants. Come and socialize in a new environment as we shop around, eat, and enjoy ourselves B)

Ice Skating NOVEMBER 19TH

UCB CKI took a trip to the rink to iceskate! Eating hot and cheesy pizza as a celebration for getting on the ice! We all had a great time on icy rink falling on our buttocks together :D

Friendsgiving NOVEMBER 23RD

Circle K members had a great Thanksgiving dinner together! It was potluck style and everyone brought so many yummy foods!

Lincoln Elementary School Costume Parade OCTOBER 29TH

UCB CKI helped a local elementary school in Oakland with decorating themed sections for the students!

Service Inn OCTOBER 30TH,

We had a great time at the beautiful Bliss home where we did both service and also enjoyed a home cooked meal!

GENup X CKI Mentorship Hours CONTINUOUS THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER

UCB CKI partnered with GENup Collegiate at UCB and GENup Collegiate National in assisting high school seniors across the nation with their college applications! Whether it's the Common App, Coalition, UC, Cal State, these high school seniors are looking for your feedback on their essays and guidance on the college application process.

Uhuru Food & Pies NOVEMBER 21ST

We busted out some baking by helping mix and bake pies for Uhuru Foods & Pies. These pies support building an independent economy for African people and they were even nice enough to let us take some home!

PickITup Chinatown NOVEMBER 14TH

Our Sunday was well spent by cleaning the streets of Oakland Chinatown! It was great being able to keep the city clean.

LCC Food Pantry NOVEMBER 13TH

We assisted people with food security by bagging and distributing food with the Lutheran Church of the Cross!

Hillside Fire Safety Group - Raking Dry Vegeation NOVEMBER 7TH

UCB Circle K raked up dry vegetation in a fire-prone area in the Berkeley Hills. Our club even got an honorarium for how many members attended!

Shorebird Nature Park Cleanup NOVEMBER 20TH

Circle K helped clean up the Shorebird Park of the Berkeley Marina!

FtC

November 5th - November 7th

FTC was a three day, two night event held at Camp Cedar Crest where members of Circle K International came together from across the CNH District. It was a great time where our members were able to acquire new skills and developed professionally within the organization.

Key to College

November 24th

Key to College was a great event where high schoolers around our campus came and we discussed all things college with them through workshops such as financials, classes, clubs, work balance etc. It was a great time and the high schoolers learned valuable lessons they will hopefully keep in mind for college applations!

Mentor/Mentee Revelations

Our Mentees got to find out who their Mentors were at revelations! Everyone had a great time and we are so excited to see their bonds grow closer!
