Letter From The Editor Grace and Peace be unto you UNITED,

We serve a very faithful and amazing God! He holds the seasons in His Hands, and as the rain and snow comes down from heaven, watering the earth, causing it to flourish; so too His Word that goes out of His mouth, it shall accomplish His will. The favor of God shines upon us UNITED, as God continually showers us with His love. May we come to know the depth, height and breadth of His amazing agape love. Our National Holy Convocation is set for July 15-17 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, GA. There is so much going on around the world of UNITED in preparation for this auspicious event! Follow us on social media to stay connected and up to date on where you can find UNITED in a city near you! Come expecting a #UNITEDencounter! Be blessed this month as Pastor Carol E. Harris ministers to us about our promised harvest, No Altar, No Well. Be encouraged UNITED, and above all, continue to stand. Be blessed as you enjoy the highlights of what is going on around the world of UNITED! In His Service, Annette Parkins Editor www.unitedcovenantchurches.org

NO ALTAR, NO WELL As the New Year awakened, so too did a new season for many of us. On New Year’s Eve most danced a most holy dance because something in their spirit ignited that something new, different and life changing was on the horizon of their tomorrow. As we began to walk the days of 2015 we heard the priest and the prophets declare the “season” not just the “year” of harvest. We pulled out our baskets and laid down our sheets. We returned each day looking for the increase of sheaves because “it had been promised’. Sixty days into the New Season and no harvest yet. No increase yet. Many are already questioning the emptiness of their hands. Has the prophet lied, did the priest miss it?? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! This IS the season of the greatest Harvest the church of God has ever seen thus far. During our season of famine the church took losses unlike anything we have ever seen. We saw scandals in great measure. We saw leadership so lost that men and women of God chose death by suicide rather than continue in lives of faith. We saw the closing of many church doors and the vacating of the see of many visionaries. We saw young adults come of age and abandon a faith that had been imparted into them since birth. Choosing rather to follow the fads of their generation rather than be leaders towards the divine destiny spoken about by their parents and grandparents. If we are to see the increase of this promised season of harvest, if we are to gain access to the fields of reaping, if we are to see the product of the years and moments of sacrifice, we must go by way of the ALTAR!! Yes the altar. The altar, the place where God meets His people and the people meet their God!! Growing up in a Christian household we came to know the altar all too well. We were told everything we needed was at the altar. Faith, forgiveness, healing, salvation, deliverance could all be found in one place, the altar. In the book of Genesis alone we see several mighty men of God remembering the importance of building an altar for God. Noah built God an altar (Genesis 8:20-21). Abram built God an altar (Genesis 12:5-7), Isaac would not only build God an altar (Genesis 26:24-25), but he would also be responsible for the redigging of the wells of his father Abraham (Genesis 26:15-18). Jacob like his fathers also builds an altar (Genesis 33:18-20). Why are the wells important when we talk about the altar? The altar is a place of sacrifice, a place of brokenness a place of bleeding and a place of tears. As we build our altars we are

digging out the capacity of our lives to be able to hold the spring of living waters that God intends to reveal through us. See, some have been compelled to focus on building upward. The altar teaches us that if we are to build with strength and integrity upward we must first dig down deep!! The wells were meant for the generations to come. The depth of the well indicated the wealth of inheritance of the family. It showed their strength. In John 4, we find Jesus, at Jacob’s well with a woman in deep trouble. We find them in the same location where Abraham once built an altar before the Lord. If we can return to the place of the altar, we will no doubt find wells where our fore fathers and mothers sacrificed on the altar. While we are looking to harvest we must also be committed to building. We must build altars now and return them to their place of prominence in our churches and in our lives (the altar of our heart), so that our generations will find wells in the places where we purchased altars and built them up with the sacrifices of our lives, our time and our obedience. John 4 tells us that Jesus had a need to go through Samaria. I believe that part of that need was to return a blessing in the place where an altar once stood. The key to this season of harvest can only be found on the altar. Those that are in the house of the Lord and in the hearts of His people. If you’ve lived to see a day where your blessings are seemingly drying up, try the altar. NO ALTAR, NO WELL!! If your well seems stopped up, and your draw from it is decreasing, try the altar. NO ALTAR, NO WELL!! If you can’t seem to locate the keys to your fields, and the gates to your vineyard seem blocked and are not accessible, try going by way of the altar. NO ALTAR, NO WELL!! A clarion call has been made from the throne of heaven calling the children of God back to the altar. God is looking for living sacrifices (Romans 12:1) to lay on the altar with great faith that He is still the God of our salvation, and the God of our generations!! God wants to meet you at the altar where you can dig a well and leave a legacy. Let our generations not pass without the remembrance, the respect and reverence of the altar of the Lord intact. The altar, the place where God meets His people and the people meet their God!! He’ll always be on time, will you? Pastor Carol E. Harris Ecclesia Family Worship Center

To the family of UNITED,

UC3 Youth Congress

As we prepare for the 26th gathering for the United Covenant Churches of Christ, many of our tiers of leadership and conference coordinators are in final preparations with great expectation for this year’s annual convocation that will be held in the city of Atlanta Georgia at the Hyatt Regency, July 15-17, 2015. Throughout the leadership team of the youth and young adult congress there is an unexplainable excitement for what could possibly be, one of the greatest experiences of our lives. This year, the National Youth Division has adopted the general conference theme and has built a Youth Encounter Conference designed to deal with the social issues of our communities and to develop the heart, minds, and spirits of the next generation of leaders. There will be classes such as LITTLE GUY – BIG GOD, LIVING IN THE MOMENT, AND SCANDAL designed to be motivational, life challenging, spirit renewing, and inspiring to all age groups covering elementary school age children to our young adults and leaders. As I write this letter, I continue to hear one word. The word Prepare. My belief is simple; In order to maximize what God wants to do for us and through us during the Holy Convocation ENCOUNTER, we must come prepared. Bishop Derek T. Triplett, former Youth Congress President for United Covenant Churches of Christ, has this saying; “When it’s time to prepare, prepare. For when it’s time to produce, there will not be any time to prepare.” Right now we should be preparing not only naturally for the move of God, but our mind and spirit should be aligning and preparing as well.

Here is an example, Athletes do not prepare for the biggest race or game of their life hours or even days before the event, they begin to prepare for an extended amount of time before they even get to that day. Their preparation begin months and sometimes years before that day. In order for us to maximize the Holy Convocation experience that many desire to have with God, we must take the next 100 days or so to prepare. Remember this, as Joshua was preparing the children of Israel in Joshua chapter one to cross over the Jordan to conquer Jericho, he sent word for the people to prepare and to consecrate themselves because in a matter of days they would cross over the river to go possess the land which the Lord God was giving to them. Today we send the word to each person reading this article that your preparation for the ENCOUNTER begins NOW! How can I be a part of the ENCOUNTER? All you have to do is go online and type in the web address: www.unitedcovenatchurches.org and register for HOLY CONVOCATION 2015. I am confident that many of you reading this article will join Overseer Frank T. Robinson, II (National Youth President) and the Youth leaders of UNITED in the great city of Atlanta Georgia at the Hyatt Regency, July 15-17, 2015. Until then, may his grace and peace be with you! To the Glory of our Father,

L.Stoney Jr. Larry R. Stoney Jr, MBA National Youth Vice President United Covenant Churches of Christ – Youth Division
