Letter From The Editor Grace and Peace be unto you UNITED, The snow is falling, and the temperatures are dropping all around us, and I trust that everyone enjoyed a cool Valentine’s Day! As we continue in our celebration of Black History Month, it is a wonderful opportunity for us all to take some time to acknowledge and remember our history. High above all tribulations, we all rise and stand on the shoulders of giants to carry forth an inheritance of greatness. May we honor the foundation that has been laid and the vision set before us as we continue to shape our legacy. We hope your excitement is rising in anticipation for this year’s National Holy Convocation. Keep those registrations coming in as we come together July 15-17 for The Encounter. UNITED will shine, the King of Kings will be glorified, and the Spirit of the Lord will move over these 3 powerpacked days. Let’s expect a #UNITEDencounter! Continue to learn more about effective communication as Pastor J.F. Chatman gives us a more in depth understanding of how to Watch Your Mouth. Be encouraged UNITED, and above all, continue to stand. Be blessed as you enjoy the highlights of what is going on around the world of UNITED! In His Service, Annette Parkins Editor www.unitedcovenantchurches.org

WATCH YOUR MOUTH, Part 2

Proverbs 18:19-21

As leaders of companies, families, churches, and other various entities we must master our ability to use out mouth wisely. For a moment I would like to educate us on just how much our mouths makes a difference in our daily lives. These things may seem very elementary, but when we have a deeper understanding of the functionality, anatomy, and appearance our mouth we will understand Proverbs 18:19-21 much clearer. Our mouth consist of teeth and a tongue, and every day we use our mouth to perform three basic things: Eating. With a healthy mouth and teeth, we can eat a wide variety of foods that are good for us. Healthy, strong teeth help us chew our foods well, which aids in digestion. Speaking. The teeth and the other parts of our mouth are used to make the proper sounds for many letters of the alphabet and speak clearly. Appearance. The mouth is used when we smile or use other expressions. The teeth help give shape and form to our face. With a healthy mouth, we look good to ourselves and to others.

As leaders we have been trusted with the task of feeding others with the words that we speak, but we must concern ourselves even the greater about what we EAT ourselves. What we eat determines how well we digest, and ultimately determining how healthy we look and feel. We all desire to live a life that consists of good health, but we lack the discipline of eating the right foods causing our ability to perform to be limited to our dietary plan. How can we feed others properly, when we haven’t made the word of God a part of our daily eating plan? What we eat everyday ultimately determines how long we live or die. We must remember that We are What we EAT. Effective communication is primary in every arena no matter what genre of business. Our teeth and tongue allow us to articulate information properly to the individuals we lead. When our mouth is not in proper condition it causes pain hindering our ability to communicate words necessary for growth. Each one of us desires to see growth in every area of our life, but your growth is a direct result of your consumption. Are you growing in strength, wisdom, and understanding from the constant vegetation of word of God, or are you just FAT from the commentary of junk food received from YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter? When the mouth is healthy then our appearance is pleasing to the eyes of many. A smile is one of the most powerful tools for the success of any organization. When you are able to smile, it is a key indicator to others that you are healthy person to be around. Kool Aid became a multi-billion dollar company all because the matter the concept of a smile. When develop a healthy life, it will make it easier for us to SMILE. Pastor J. F. Chatman II The Birthing Place www.thebirthingplacechurch.org

The Shepherd’s Corner In this month’s Shepherd Corner, Elder Daphne McRae shares a teaching entitled, “I’ve Come To Far to Turn Back Now” from Exodus 3: 7-10. What you thought was going to kill you was really just God pushing you into the Place of Prepared Promise. You are too close to turn back now. You have been through too much affliction, too much oppression, and been in lack for too long to turn back now. God said that you are too close to greatness, too close to victory, too close to overcoming to turn back now. He said you can’t die here! As we transition from the cycle of adversity and enter into this perpetual season of Shemitah (Rest, Restoration and Economic Reset), we as Believers are met with great expectation and wonderment that something great is getting ready to happen! Similarly, I can only imagine the great hope that filled the hearts of the Israelites as they departed Egypt after over 400 years of bondage, as they prepared to enter into the Place of Prepared Promise just on the other side of the Red Sea. There were specific evidence and clues all along the way as they journeyed from Egypt through various stations to the Red Sea. Some of which I wish to share with you today as follows: (1) Bones of Joseph representing the surety of God’s Word. As Moses and the Israelites prepared for their escape out of Egypt, they took the bones of Joseph with them because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath over 200 years ago. He had said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.” (Exodus 13:19) Bones represent fortification, calcification and strength. They don’t decay, are resilient (repair themselves) and remain long after the flesh has been eaten away or decayed. The same is true of God’s word: (1) It’s timeless (Isaiah 55:11) (2) It’s Resilient (power) and 3) Remains long after heaven and earth has passed away (Matthew 25:35). The bones were a reminder of some trans generational blessings from their ancestor Joseph that the same God who rescued Joseph would be the same God who would rescue them. When God rescued Israel and Moses took even Joseph’s bones, it

showed that not one person who had waited faithfully on the Lord (even unto death) would be left behind when God came to rescue his people. Even though Joseph was sold into slavery over 400 years prior and was integral in leading the people of Israel in the direction of liberation, he too would be buried in the place of promise. Even in his death, Joseph did not miss the mark and his bones became symbolic of the SURETY of God’s word! God has a prepared place for you and He has given you a SURE WORD as you prepare for this next release! You’re not going to miss it in this season! If God was faithful to fulfill the promise made to Joseph even in his death, how much more is he willing to do the same for us with breath still in our bodies and blood running through our veins! You’ve been too faithful, committed and dedicated! Even in his death, Joseph did not miss the mark and his bones became symbolic of the SURETY of God’s word! (2) Places of worship (Succoth) to propel you to the next station. Exodus 13:20 - After leaving Succoth they encamped at Etham (edge of the wilderness/desert) on the edge of the desert. God has given you succoth’s in this season (concealed, secret and secluded hiding places of retreat and worship). While in Succoth, you will find strength, peace and safety and the enemy cannot find you, even if he tries. Your worship got you here, let your worship propel you to your next station! (3) The Red Sea as your “red carpet” to the next dimension! This is your “Triple A” season. Authority, Access and Angelic Protection will be your companions. To this day, archeologist and geologists can’t find the exact location of where the Israelites entered the Red Sea and walked across the dry ground to the other side. It remains a mystery and a phenomenon to the world. Similarly to the divine entrance that God created to usher the Israelites to the promised land, he is going to give access to portals and openings in dimensions in this season of Shemitah that we’ve never had before. e.g. access to people, jobs, loans, promotions, streams of income. Carnal man will be unable to discern the portals in which we entered! Just like the Good Shepherd, God promises to keep his watchful eye over each of us until the last sheep has made it safely to the other side. And he watched over the Israelites for several hours (even through the final watch of the night) until everyone had made it safely through the Red Sea and to the other side of dry ground. The intensity of your labor pains have put you closer to death than you’d care to mention, but there is getting ready to be a great RELEASE from the wombs of heaven if you stay Pointed in the Position of the Prepared Place of Promise!

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.

In honor of this year's Black History Month, enjoy some of the most inspirational quotes from some of the most influential black personalities of all time, and check out some of the women blazing trails in the 21st Century!

"Just don’t give up what you’re trying to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong." ~Ella Fitzgerald "We should emphasize not Negro history, but the Negro in history. What we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hate, and religious prejudice." ~Carter Woodson

"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place." ~Zora Neale Hurston

"Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another's uniqueness." ~Ola Joseph

21st Century Female Trailblazers!!!

Shirley Franklin has been a public servant for quite some time. Beginning in 1978, she worked in many roles: overseeing city operations and working with neighborhood associations, civil rights groups, labor unions, and more. All of this eventually led her to become the first Black woman mayor of a major southern city (Atlanta) in 2002.

Maritza Correia has been training hard as a swimmer since she was nine years old. She won awards at the high school and college level, medals at an international contest, and broke records in two different events. In 2002, Maritza became the first Black woman to set an American and world swimming record - and in 2004, the first Black woman to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic swim team.

At a young age, Ruth Simmons asked her mother if she could go to college. She could tell that her mother considered her dream impossible. But, not only did she attend prestigious colleges on scholarship and get her PhD, she went on to become the first Black president of an Ivy League institution in 2001.
