Increasing Diversity in Clinical Research Participants Professor Donna Felber Neff is part of a $2 million, three-year statewide effort examining intergenerational influence to recruit and enroll diverse older adults as participants in clinical research studies – a population that’s currently under-represented – to address healthcare disparities.
Nation’s First COVID-19 Study Examining Experiences of Black Women Carmen Giurgescu, associate dean of research, received additional funding for her ongoing $3.8 million NIH R01 study to explore pregnant Black women’s experiences during the pandemic and identify factors related to maternal morbidity and mortality.
Creating Diverse Simulations to Reduce Healthcare Disparities With a research grant from Laerdal Medical, healthcare simulation expert Desiree Díaz is using healthcare simulation education to increase awareness among nursing students about healthcare disparities for Black pregnant women and infants to enable the students to become more culturally competent providers.
