Hello from Secretariat UCLG ASPAC Secretariat Team is glad to welcome Shamim and Grace Imani Febry to our team. Both will support us in the operations and ensure smooth deliverables to our members. SHAMIM Ahsan Chowdhury, or Shamim, is the Acting Project Manager of Municipalities Network Advocacy on Sanitation in South Asia (MuNASS) Phase II. His role is to support Local Government Associations (LGAs) to demonstrate innovation on SDG 6.2 measurement by mobilising cities and municipalities, regional advocacy, knowledge exchange, and joint activities in the Asia-Pacific region by June 2024 in collaboration with LGAs in Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. With a Master degree in Geography and Environment from Dhaka University and MPH from North East University (Bangladesh), Shamim has been working for around 15 more years in the development sector focusing on local government and governance, institutional capacity building, policy advocacy and networking, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), public health, and sanitation in various institutions. Asked about his expectation in joining UCLG ASPAC, he answered with enthusiasm to work toward integrating equity into every goal of SDGs. He also likes learning new skills and recently has translated 25 Chinese songs for learning purposes.

GRACE Imani Febry, or Grace, is the new Regional Project Admin Officer. Grace will support the ongoing projects on administrative and procurement matters. Having a Bachelor Degree from Trisakti University in economics management, Grace has been working in administrative, secretarial, and procurement for more than 15 years with various institutions such as Rheem, United Nations, GIZ, Mission 21, CardnoMAHKOTA project, and BBC Media Action. Grace loves volunteering such as teaching underprivileged children, visiting prisoners, assisting in book launch events, and translating documents for one film-maker community in Jakarta. Her expectation in joining UCLG ASPAC is to support the Organisation, particularly in administrative and procurement aspects, or other areas related to her role to ensure all projects run smoothly and achieve their goals/outputs/outcomes. Some of her hobbies are reading, writing, listening to music and singing, also walk in the park/nature. Grace also joins an English speaking club regularly as one of the activities outside of work.
