HELLO FROM SECRETARIAT UCLG ASPAC continuously empowers youth, particularly those who have passion in fields relating to urban and local development. In relation to that, we continuously provide opportunity for students to learn about that through our internship program. At the end of 2017, we are happy to receive two interns from Vietnam and Italy. Check out their short biography below, cause you might meet them ahead! Viola Petrella. As her name suggests, Viola is our intern from Italy. She holds a bachelor degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano, a master's degree in Urban Design and City Planning from University College London, and a master in Project management for international cooperation and development from ASVI Social Change School in Rome. With this complete package, Viola sets her internship expectation which is to learn about urban development in various Indonesian and Southeast Asian cities. She is also eager to refine her skills in project cycle management, monitoring, and evaluation through practical experience. This relates with her future career goal in which she would like to work with and research urban systems, their dynamics and development in international context. Viola is currently working on a number of public space projects across Java. She hopes that her experience and learnings will also contribute to an academic paper. Hanh Huynh. We call her Hanh. Holding Vietnamese citizenship, Hahn is currently registered as a research student of International Relations major, Deakin University, Australia. Before that, she completed her undergraduate study in Environmental Science. Choosing UCLG ASPAC, Hanh expects to learn about intergovernmental organization structure as well as environmental advocacy in developing country; while in the future, she has a dream to develop strategy for modern democratization. With her rich background, Hahn is assigned to assist IRRC Project that will hold a national workshop in January 2018, Sanitation Project, as well as completion of City and Local Government Enabling Environment Rating in Asia and the Pacific.
