dont know if it happens to you to feel somewhere else at lunchtime. Far from tickling your tongue, I am talking here about a moment of reading. After dispatching some lines from a sweet zine from the capital, I realized that yes, I could recognize myself in this care bear identity “ somewhat stupid, creative and always late on schedule”. To avoid all vulgarity, i’ll settle for an ordinary “merde”, because it’s clear that making readers wait is an ordeal to face. Lets put this folder to oblivion as an X-rated file for a letter-number that will serve as tenth episode for your longboard magazine. “Ole-Ole” or convoluted, word has it that X was probably one of the best ways to make sense of this large wooden board. Because in our “sport”, there are codes, and means to endless opportunities to find pleasure and experiences to share, whatever your riding style is. So we contacted Arian Chamasmany, Axel Serrat, Root Longboar, DJ Pieral & Julien Leger. Everyone accepted to meet X around a table, as a tribute to the senses, to the elements, to light, and everything skateboard means to us. At the very time we’re finishing this, kept awake by pulling all nighters, all the team here at the mag is proud to bring to this world a tenth effort for your very pleasure. A thousand thanks for your ever faithful patience and support. UDmag is on track and soon in your shop. Good reading!

IV - SKATE SAFE
Pictures:
If you’ve ever crashed while going fast on a skateboard, you understand very quickly thereafter why it is exactly that you need to skate safe, and within your limits. Pushing yourself to skate harder or faster isn’t the same thing as skating a downhill run or attempting to do something that you’re just not ready for. Being smart will keep you injury free, and being injury free means you’ll be spending more time on the board, instead of on the internet.

V - PROMISE LAND
I - ME AND MY REPORT TO LONGBOARD
My promise land are my spots, my city. My high speed, twisting and turning Malibu roadways. My inner-city slopes and sidewalks. My golden orange late afternoon sunset sessions at Venice beach. My hills, my flats, my ups and downs, my lefts and rights. It’s always important to have your space, your zone, your place where you can go to do your thing, uninhibited.
For me, skateboarding is more therapy than sport. It’s an addiction, an obsession. If I don’t skateboard, or at least move, I feel like I begin to lose touch with myself. I find it incredible where this love affair with this sport has taken me. How this preoccupation with a piece of wood with four wheels has broadened my perspective on life, introduced me to so many incredible people, shaped and influenced the way I think and feel. I’ll be forever grateful for that fact. Skateboarding is something I’ll practice for as long as I can walk, because at the root of it all, I just like the way it makes me feel.
II - HOMIES One of the most fascinating aspects about this sport for me are the people. The genuine individuals who share the same addiction as you. It allows you to instantly form a bond that stretches far beyond languages and nationalities. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some absolutely incredible people during the course of my travels, and I can only hope to encounter more of them along the way.
III - SKATEEVERYTHING The skateboard is a tool by which you can use to creatively express yourself within your environment. How you go about doing that is completely up to you. Ride it backwards, on one foot, off ramps, down hills, sideways, upside down, in circles, however you please. Skateboarding should never be about learning how to ride it a certain way, but more about making it all your own.
9
VI - STOKE
VIII - PARTIES
Sometimes, all it takes is for you to stoke someone out to change the entire trajectory of their life. It’s important to remember to share the energy you dedicate to your sport, and then further influence others to do the same. Share what you can, travel to new places, meet new people, pass along the good vibes. You can’t have a party without stoke.
Stay up all night, dance until your feet hurt, don’t be shy, compliment your DJ’s, tip your bartenders but also make sure they serve you a proper drink. Guest lists are rad but remember to take care of those who put you there. Report all sound problems to the management. Beer before liquor never been sicker. Easy on the cigarettes baby, and don’t forget to pick up your things at the coat check. Be stoked, always party.
VII - TRAVEL Go forth, travel, see, explore, experience, conquer! Live it as much as you can. Skateboard everywhere, skateboard everything. Escape the confines of wherever you are right now, at this moment. Plan a trip, go outside, climb a mountain, then skate back down it, see a foreign sunset, fall in love with a person, a place, a thing. Do anything and everything can and want to do, and never feel guilty for wanting that for yourself. Travel will set you free.

On December 1st of this past year, I was involved in a downhill skateboarding accident where I ended up hitting a guardrail at around 65kph to avoid a van which had entered my lane. The impact compound fractured the tibia and fibia bones of my left leg. I was hospitalized shortly thereafter and a titanium rod and four screws were permanently installed within the larger tibia bone. It was a very painful recovery process that I’m still currently dealing with. However, if all goes according to plan, I should be able to return to the wonderful world of skateboarding sometime around late April / May. In the mean time, I’ve been riding my road bicycle around Los Angeles, taking a great deal of photography, writing, producing, Djing, and working on my website. So while I may not be

uilding skateboards is not an easy task. For sure, in order to get a regular production you need all the necessary, be supported and organized. For this tenth Profil Marque, UDmag decided to ask to Alexander about warehouse secret of the german skateboards brand ROOT LONGBOARD ?
B
UD/ Salut Alexander ? Wie geht’s bro ? A/ Hey man, it was nice to met you at the ISPO, hope you had a safe trip back! I´m fine, we have a lot to do now after the ISPO – but that´s what we wanted, so I have no reason to complain.I am already looking forward to my first skatetrip in 2014!
UD/ How many fingers hang around Root Longboard ? A/ Since Philipp, a good and old friend of mine, joined last year we are two guys trying to make a living out of it. But we have a lot of helping hands, which support us when and how ever they can. The team is awesome, whenever we need some help at the workshop, on events or tradeshows. they help us as good as they can. So thanks a lot to these guys & girls, without their help it wouldn’t be possible to do what we are doing.
UD/ Why did you call your brand Root Longboards ? Does nature have a place into the spirit of the brand ? A/ There are two reasons for the brand name. When I started building boards back in 2008
we have already been a collective of guys skating and snowboarding together. The first boards we were riding when we started longboarding haven´t been what we were looking for, that’s when we decided to try and build some boards on our own. After some first thoughts everybody was talking about going “back to the roots”, that´s one of the reasons for the name Root Longboards. And the other one was that in the beginning we had no idea which wood would be good to build a skateboards. So we went to our local carpenter and he gave us some veneer he didn’t needed anymore. And that was root veneer – so the name of the project was born… we liked it, and we still do. Nature definitely has a place, we try to buy all the wood we use for the boards from “local” veneer dealers, and if that’s not possible we focus on getting sustained grown veneer. To characterize our boards we are working with graphics but we also love to show the natural grain of the veneer on them, so if you take a look on our boards, you can always spot some wood in between the graphic, some boards have more or less, but in general we always try to keep it natural. That´s something I like the most about our boards, besides the
UD/ Manufacturing skateboards costs a lot of money. How was the beginning of your activity ? A/ Oh jaaa! The beginning was a little bit sketchy. We started in the basement with our first mold. We had no press so we used clamps to get some pressure on the mold. But it worked! So I started to draw the first shapes. We also experimented with vacuum, but that had not enough pressure for the concaves we wanted, so we stopped it. We put our own money into this project, and some of our friends spend a bit – so we built our first press, with some metal we welded together and two dare siphons. With this Mad Max construction we were able to press some boards for our friends, and so we sold some of the boards, and we raised a bit of money to invest it into new molds. After we had two shapes, we launched a crappy self made website and some guys ordered our boards . You can´t believe what a feeling that was! But we had to earn some more money to invest in better molds, presses, veneer etc. So we scrambled up some money and started a small online longboardshop (with 3 decks and 4 sets of trucks). Our Parents lent us some additional money.
25
Some day we asked Caliber Trucks if we could distribute their trucks here in Germany. Later Brandon from Caliber told me that we were the first guys asking him for the distribution right – before he even had some trucks in stock. So this distribution deal helped us to earn some money for our first workshop, cnc-drilling machine etc. And so everything got serious… more or less.
UD/ The result is awesome. Your boards smell something true about passion for shaping and the place where it’s done. What about the workshop ? A/ Thanks man! The workshop isn´t as big as you might expect, in fact it´s pretty small. We have a small shop and an even smaller warehouse with two 18 m² containers in the backyard. One of them is used for laminating and pressing the boards, the other one is used for cutting and sanding them - it’s pretty messy in there. If you have the time, just visit us and you will see how tiny everything is.
UD/ Who does what in your longboard lab ? A/ Right now, I do the whole prototyping process, drawing the molds, shapes and so on. Additionally I stay in a close contact to our riders to get as much feedback as possible during the prototyping process to optimize the boards. I always try to concentrate myself on some marketing and organizational work, which gets even more and more important to build up this brand. Philipp on the other hand is the head of the workshop and
NATURE DEFINITELY HAS A PLACE 26
the production in general. He´s also doing some of the office work. That works pretty well, we do a good team. So everything is running easy and everybody understands the importance of each other’s work. It’s a bit like an old couple working together.
UD/ In your opinion, what does a shaper team need to be efficient? A/ I don´t know. For me it´s important to skate and watch people skating. So I can feel what I need and what riders need or what could help them to have more fun on the boards, more control and response. A very important point is that you keep in touch with your team riders, friends, customers and other shapers. So you get a lot of response from different people with different opinions and riding styles. This knowledge can be put back into our development. Mainly just do it and have fun. You have to experiment a lot, I stopped counting how many molds we made just to get rid of it again right after the first board, testing new materials mixing different kinds of wood, fiberglass and carbon, don’t stop progressing and thinking about how to improve the lineup, the construction, function and shapes of the boards. Steady exchange yourself with your partner, friends and riders – let them know what you planned or on what you´re working – so u can get new influences into every step of development. Be patient – sometimes it takes over a year from the first prototype to the finished board. Some few times I even decided not to skate, till I finished a special board or a new prototype, and that could take a few weeks - It´s kind of a personal superstition.

ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS IS WHEN YOU GET A NEW BOARD OUT OF THE PRESS.
slide workshops, every Wednesday on one of our home spots – it´s a good feeling to teach people skate safe and respect each other.
UD/ From the conception until the release of the boards, what’s your favorite moment ? A/ In my opinion one of the best moments is when you get a new board out of the press. The virgin, your own creation, something that you put a lot of passion in. And then it is done, your holding the holy grail in your hands and the board is ready for the very first run. Next thing I really love about the process of making new boards is when people try one of them and get stoked about it. That´s why one of our main goals is to make folks happy with creative and fun decks, cause it also has great impact on us and makes us feel good too.
UD/ If you were the last shaper of the universe, what would you like to offer to the last riders? A/ The ultimate Hoverboard! But not just like the one out of “back to future” it should offer the same unique feeling to the rider like a regular skateboard. It should create the same feeling like there were trucks and wheels under the board – but you can skate everything like an endless concrete wave. Hope you can imagine what I´m trying to explain here.
UD/ Which was the biggest difficulties you met in this adventure ? A/ Hmmm also a hard question. In the beginning it was to get the respect of riders and other brands. To get the trust of shops and their support and of course to convince the skate scene that our boards work. And then there are several more difficulties like how to press or which construction will be the best, find resellers and so on… too much to describe with a few words.
UD/ Longboarding seems to be in good shape in Germany. What kind of vibes do you bring into this ? A/ We do a lot for the scene here in Germany. Nowadays, there are a lot of people, who put a lot of passion and work into the skate scene, in organizing events, trade shows, sessions and so on. We try to sponsor as much events as possible, helping out if they need course marshals, race directors or just somebody who´s filling up bags with hay. It´s a big family and everyone is supporting each other. The vibes are great and it´s just a lot of fun, having a good time and seeing things grow. For our regional scene we are giving free

esigning a spot as thousands of possibilities. The task seems huge and yet the game is worth than a candle. No, longboardskate is not a full-fledged. Downhill, freestyle, street, the big board make itself allroad and dismantles preconceptions about this lovely piece of wood. Skate in all its forms by Axel Serrat, the Spanish skateeverything artist!
D
UD/ Hi Axel. How are you doing buddy ? A/ It couldn’t be better, enjoying myself in California. For the last 6 years life is being pretty good.
UD/ How long are you skating for ? A/ I started skating when I was 13 years old, so I believe I have been skating for 14 years now. I started skating a streetboard, and then slowly I was getting into longboarding.
UD/ Have you got a favorite skateboarding style/practice ? A/ Usually I don’t go to specific spots, I prefer to cruise Barcelona, and that makes you improve almost all the styles. I can just take a train to the top of Collserola and start with a mellow downhill run until I get into the city then freeride some of the streets that they are crazy steep and suddenly I find some banks and ledges on the sidewalk and some crazy architecture that looks made on purpose. So you can believe this city makes you improve your skateboard skills.
UD/ Finally, a four wheels piece of wood is a skateboard, but what’s your opinion about the “skateeverything” ? A/ Skateeverything makes me happy, since I started I was pretty attracted by the different skateboarding styles. If you skate everything you make grow up your skateboard skills, every styles give you something useful for others styles. I try to improve myself in all terrains. Once you start this true love with your board you figure out what style will make you happy. Personally I like skateeverything because it gives me the pleasure of have fun in all the terrains.
UD/ How being tricky is useless to freeriding? A/ Tricky gives you a open mind to do different stuff in the same spot. Make you improve yourself.
UD/ Who speaks when you ride ? Instinct or esthetic ? A/ I believe is a mix in-between them.
Pictures : Agro > Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/ pages/Axel-Serrat/119671274813425?fref=ts

UD/ 3rd episode of GP Offshore is the perfect example about that. What’s your feeling about the experience ? A/ I was so glad to be involved into this project, it was awesome to spend time with all the crew, and it feels super good to watch the video and remember all those moments. The experience made me be certain, we are a big family wherever we come from… UD/ What did you learn from that ? A/ When you have to organize 16 people you better be patient !
38
UD/ What ’s your plan for 2014 ? A/ I definitely decided to quit racing, it isn’t worth. Now I am looking forward to travel a lot and visit as many places I can, filming and making pictures, meeting new people and discovering new places to skate, new cultures. For summer I am planning to squad Spain and look for gnarly places to skate. Now I am in California, and who knows what’s gonna be the next destination.
UD/ Who would like you to thanks for being the funny man you are ? A/ Mom and Dad did a great job! And my brother helped a lot too. My crew in Barcelona, they are pushing it hard. All my friends, I don’t know how they do to stand me! Sometimes it’s tuff…And I want to thank all my sponsors. Original Skateboards, Sick, Ennui, Paris Trucks, Cult, RDVX, Push Culture apparel and RDM Barcelona smoking club. They are taking care of me!

ur friend and rider Baptiste wanted to share a slice of life with us. Have you ever been in South Africa? If you’ve never been there, read the following lines and let Baptiste tells you his longboardskate experience in Cape Town.
Welcome to Cape-Town! For those who ignore where is this beautiful place, it’s situated on the west/south-west coast of South Africa. This city is one of the most important of the country and it counts a lot of elements about skateboarding. Full of spots, folk, stoke and energy, discover how Cape Town can be one of the best shred place in the world.
ASPHALT:
far from this place, there is Dal Road. A “Californian” spot with nice rows and a great view on the very touristic place of Lions Head. Foot braking here is forbidden. You easily reach 50km/h in sticking the ground. Without hesitation, I recommend Glen Road (see ROUTE) and the famous Chapmanks Peak Road, with its strictly narrow road. Riders from the Trocadéro mountain, don’t go there!

RIDERS FROM THE TROCADÉRO MOUNTAIN, DON’T GO THERE!
Skateboarding there is awesome. My favorite spot is Signal Hill. The top of the hill delivers an incredible view on the whole city, Table Mountain and the rest of the west coast. Here is the kingdom of strings for an average speed of 60/70km/h. There is nothing to say, the spot is very playful, perfect for riders trains. Not so

HERE YOU CAN FEEL THAT SKATEBOARDING IS JUST LOVE.
RIDERS YOU NEED TO KNOW: The famous rider of these last months is the national champion, Decio Lourenço. A pretty cool guy who doesn’t care about anything when he needs to go fast and take perfect trajectories. Nick Taylor is one of these young riders who illustrate the next generation. His name sounds American and yet… the grom is only 14 years old and shreds like someone (for his age) I never seen before. Talented, he takes over the older rider that we know here.
TO EAT AND SLEEP: Cape Town is a dynamic city with a lot of good deals. There is many backpackers in the city, so it’s not difficult to find a place to sleep. You have to count 15€ /night for a room (swimming pool includes). To find something to eat, it’s better if you like spicy meals. Many snacks everywhere with cool meal including fresh drinking for only 3€. What could be better ?
SHOPPING: Boardhub is the best shop in the city. Located in the city center on Long Street, you can buy every stuff you need for good prices because rand (SA money) is weak, so perfect to make good deals!
EVENTS: You have to know here, seasons are inverted. The best events take place in the early month of the year. Even if Riders en Bray (Normandie – France) are the best event’s organizers, the guys from here are good too. I haven’t participated in many events, but those where I was are among the best. Firstly, there the mythical Hot Heels Africa located in a nature reserve at 1 hour from Cape Town. A crazy spot with a great organization. Then, in a “weird” kind, there is Plettdownhill Rage with its huge 18% drop on 500 meters where you cannot see the road, but just the ocean. Arriving safe at the bottom of the spot is not complicated, pray the head in your knees… Here you can feel that skateboarding is just love. People spread and share the stoke every day whatever the weather and skateboarding style. This is one of the best thing I learned here. I hope you’ll have the chance to come here, visit great places, hills, and drink beers. Of course, so much things missing in my article, but the best way to make it over is to you to come here, in spreading the best vibes you have. Cape Town is great. A very cool place to be, live and ride!

It’s one of the biggest cities in France and an un-lost rider (pun intended) will always find an occupation. If we have decided to tell you all about Lille, it’s for its special inhabitant: Cosmonostro, a label producing nothing but good stuff. Indeed, you can find some of the craziest beatmakers: Phazz, Blakesmith, Everydayz or Primat, to whom we are going to introduce you. Most of Cosmonostro’s releases are available on free download, so if you’re fond of sweet eargasm: follow the links.
After a lil’ step to Lille, let’s move to Tours. Another cool city in which you can find the well-known Place Plume, a drinking spot where you can always grab a drink around a artificially heated table. But Tours isn’t all about that, it’s also the birthplace of Brain Washer Records, a French label which paves its way towards the new generation of French Touch - pretty much reminiscent of our high-school days. Enough with talks; let’s shed light on this amazing family. Brain Washer touches everything encompassing music, including classical music among its latest release. In order to get used to this new generation, go listen to the nice tracks of Phunkacid or 12” Dust’s funk sound (pronounced it as Vinyl Dust). And for the most curious people out there, keep reading: our next article is dealing with the French producer surrounded by palm trees: Bolivard.

ALLURE - SIGNATURE Allure isn’t born yesterday but his last EP Signature hints at a new maturity which pours in his last record. We’re immediately drawn into the groovy ambiance of the album, which reminds us of summer and its crystal-clear sounds doubled with funky beats. It’s actually the whole combination that makes the quality of this EP. Kartell, FKJ and Roche Musique’s artists better have to watch out: this new record picks nothing but the best in up-to-date music. Allure has tanned, he even looks sun burnt, and Allure comes back with a 4-tracks EP. It takes us by the guts and pushes us to any beach, as long as the sun is burning and the water is chill. So hide your K-way away, and dig up your flip-flops: Winter is over!
TODD TERJE - IT’S ALBUM TIME Todd Terke: surely has this name already made you shiver on the dance floor. 10 years of producing remixes and maxis below him, he has already ruined tons of shoes from then on. How could we celebrate better the return of summer but with that perfect soundtrack for all vacationers to come? Terje Olson has just realized our dreams by releasing his first album entitled “It’s Album Time”. It sounds like a 55-funky-minutes long trip. His funk encompasses all the abilities of the artist: wild synths, beat-boxing, and evoking hot Brazilian beaches, blond-haired birth-countries, and something like Chicago house. How can we not get excited to run into Strandbar and Inspertor Norse again? The two are teaming up with Terje on new tracks. Among those, there is this wonderful cover of Johnny and Marry by Robert Palmer, sung by Bryan Perry. It’s a complete ecstasy at the listening of this album, which deserves the award “best release” of the year so far.
PRIMAT - OLD WORLD I’ve already told you about Cosmonostro, the Brooklille-based label, yet I’m obliged to pick one of their latest releases and to bring it to you. So I choose to pick Primat, a double-act who seems old enough to be believed married or parent – but separately. However there are no such things. Those two producers are freshly growing out of their teenager years, yet their productions are incredibly mature. Just listen up to their Busta Rhymes’s remix and you’ll get the idea. Some times after this, they have finally made up their own release: Old World. It’ll immediately teleport you into their universe with tracks such as Mandrill, which brings back old souvenirs of old dusty vinyl; Journey makes room for Mc Pink Tee to express himself. Finally, the door closes on Kano, a mafia movie worthy OST. This first shot is clearly won by the two Lillois, and they are already awaited for the sequel of their adventures.
BOLIVARD - ALOHA! Bolivard – the discreet artist of Brain Washer Records - makes music merging Caribbean sonorities with some of the other numerous influences of his: from Archive’s rock to Boards of Canada’s math electronic, and stepping towards Siriusmo’s crazy creativity. Bolivard’s music manages to trigger the vacationer-wannabe sleeping in any of us. His sound tastes like a cocktail to be sipped while looking at the sea, chillingly lying on a deckchair with palm trees and bikinis at hands. His first EP Dragons had already set the lines of his style directly inspired by the most beautiful postcards. Bolivard comes back with a 2-tracks record, dancy enough to make me positive on my ability to ruin my flip-flops. The records - filled up with sunshine, flute, bass, guitar lines and synthesizer breaks – seems to be the perfect trump waiting for our vacations to come – and yeah, we are impatiently waiting for them as we have plan them last year. Still, we have to wait another month - full of blank holidays - before joining Bolivard on a spot where the blue of the water and the blue of the sky get mixed up.
TENSNAKE - GLOW Tensnake’s first album is another proof that waiting isn’t that bad. His Coma Cat had already brought him into light 4 years ago. And now, here comes the record that will blow up our car radios. The disco beat which was already perceptible in his early productions – is all the more obvious now, as well as the singing part. Here we got an album that sets up your mood from the early hours of the day with its old-school piano mixing with delicious bass lines. What’s struck me at first was the bunch of featuring on the album: Nile Rodgers, Fiora, Jamie Liddell and Jeremy Glenn. Even thought that enables Tensnake to experiment further and offer a well made LP, we may wonder on the real motive of so many collaborations in Tensnake’s work. At the end, we end up on 14 tracks – sunnier than ever – underlining Marco’s willingness to climb up the summer charts.

Making a longboard video has become child’s play. But seizing the movement at the right time, capturing the subject expression and public attention is much difficult that is seems. Between rain and sunshines, UDmag is about to make your spring better and turns on his microphone for a videographer who is as humble as he is talented. Focus on Julien Léger.
M
UD/ Hi Julien. Thanks for accepting our invitation. Who are you in a few words ? J/ hank you Marvin. The pleasure is mine! I’m 25 and I’ve been practicing BMX for 12 years now, making videos for almost as long or more but professionally for only 4 years.
UD/ How did this love story come to be between a man and a video camera ? J/ [Laughs] I don’t know if we can talk about love! The first time I got an image recording device in my hands, I was about 10 and it was my parents’ camcorder. At first, I was shooting random shit and when I started hanging out with other riders in my neighbourhood, we were making videos for fun and to keep a memory of the stuff we did, never taking it seriously. I quickly enjoy our filmed sessions and wanted to edit them. I could never stop! Later, I hung out with high level riders from Nantes. I started to doing smarter things. While I was filming the official video of a BMX contest at
UD/ What triggered your collaboration with Paris Truck Co. & the rider Lotfi Lamaali ? J/ Everything happened in a party with Lotfi in Nantes at the shop where Tahina works. He was as a Loaded «french sales rep» and rolled with us. I suggested him to shoot some stuff without really knowing where I was going. Finally, I made a short edit which was relayed in the medias by Loaded and make a buzz on the web. That’s why we met later in Paris to know each other better and shoot “Artiskate”. The shooting was quick. In 3 days, we almost completed all that we planned. I came back in Paris for an encounter with Mr. Pulsifer to discuss about Lotfi’s introcduction into the Paris Trucks Co. Pro Team . Soon after he offered me to work again with Lotfi. Everything happened in a friendly mood, around a beer, we highed five and i came back to Nantes with a huge smile on my face and some work.Since this meeting with that damn bastard from Paris, I ‘ve never been so inspired by someone .He brought me so much, that’s why i would love work with him every month.Well, he’s too shy so he won’t...
the Hangar in Nantes 4 years ago, I met a person from the drink company whose baseline is “drink gives you wings”. We talked, they checked out my video and asked me to work with them. That’s when I realized it could be my job.
UD/ You are known for your pictures in extreme sports environment. Why did you choose that kind of sports ? J/ Because it’s the way I started, where I felt comfortable. I’ve been riding a BMX for a long time, it’s a sport close to longboard/skate. So I learned to highlight tricks, attitudes, and the lifestyle that goes with. I also tried to make clips for musicians, but it was less interesting! Regarding longboard, I got myself there with Tahina who needed me to make some videos to support and found Longboard Girls Crew France. My aim was to see if I was comfortable to shoot thissport. Obviously, it worked. In the future, I would love to shoot downhill sessions, I got some ideas in mind about it, so wait and see...

UD/ What’s the hardest part about your job? J/ It is as difficult question, because I’m tempted to say that everything is tricky. When I film a rider, he wants to see something that fits his way and my goal is to mix expectations and desires of everyone to something better. But if I have to choose a specific stage, I would say editing, because most of the time it happens right after the shooting, after the “euphoric”period. I have to keep myself awake to recreate everything.
UD/ Beyond your job, what do you feel in making a video? J/ It allows me to experience things I could never live differently. I was able to meet great people on all the projects I ‘ve worked on. There is also a sense of satisfaction in seeing the rider, happy about the video when he views it in its final stage .That’s why i do what i do, to see riders be proud of their video.
UD/ What’s the video you have prefer worked on? J/ It’s undoubtedly «Welcome to the Team Paris « with Lotfi ! It was another hard week. We had a good laugh from beginning to end, we played gangsters with the security guys for fun. I could even shoot Lotfi do anything other than freestyle, such a real breaking news! Seriously, all the conditions were gathered to make cool stuff. Everything was great and Lotfi was glad with the result, so it suits me!
I HAVE SOME PLANS WITH THE BLUE CANS’ DRINK COMPANY. 72
UD/ From 1 to 10, what are the sports you love or dream to shoot ? J/ Good question! I never really thought about it because I Iove what I do. But if I really have to answer I would say: BMX, longboard, skateboard, FMX, snowboard, surf, cliff diving, motorsports (it counts for two) and base jumping.
UD/ What are your plans for this newly started year ? J/ The beginning of the year is a little soft, because everything happens in the mountains ... But i have some plans with the blue cans’ drink company, and other opportunities with BMX brands/shops/media asking me focus on riders and events. Im’ actually working for a show included to the festival HIPOPSESSION in Nantes produced by DASSWASSUP.COM. But I would enjoy to have some free time this year to move on my own projects. I would like to make a video with Tahina and her sponsor to finally make my «Masterpiece». I would also like to take advantage of having a good relationship with Lotfi to make another video with him, but something more biographical and professional. That being said, this is what I would like to do ... who can say if it will come true or not ... I really hope so!
