GREEN SPACE Our campus is set within 200 hectares of parkland, giving you all the green space you could need for sports, barbeques, lake walks or relaxing with a good book.
SPORTSPARK UEA’s Sportspark is one of the biggest indoor university sports centres in Britain and covers many sporting interests. You can swim in the Olympic-sized pool, play badminton and go rock climbing. Then there’s the fully equipped gymnastics centre, martial arts and dance studio, and the state-of-theart gym. DETAILS Study in England’s first UNESCO City of Literature – the place where literature, quite simply, is happening right now. Experiment with prose fiction and poetry and explore your creativity, while being guided in the craft and technical elements of creative writing. You will study the work of established authors and gain the skills essential to becoming a writer, including writing in drafts and reading as a writer. You will finish the course by writing, editing and publishing a literary magazine for the end of summer finale celebrations. DIGITAL ANIMATION: CREATING A 3D COMPUTER GENERATED MOVIE SCHOOL OF COMPUTING SCIENCES

DETAILS This module will focus on gaining practical experience in creating and modifying 3D models using the industry standard software Autodesk 3ds Max. You will learn how to apply a range of textures and surfaces to objects, and how to add lighting for realism and special effects. All building towards the creation of your final animation project. You’ll have access to our world-class teaching facilities, including our specialised graphics lab. And by the end of the course you will have gained an in-depth understanding of the issues involved in the creation of 3D models and how they are used to create visual images and animations. DETAILS Increased access to the Internet has played a significant role in how media industries and governments regulate the media. This has led to concerns about human rights and has posed new problems for the law. Many have predicted that the Internet will make borders less relevant, especially with the prevalence of smart phones and mobile technologies.

ADDITIONAL CREDIT: PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NORWICH BUSINESS SCHOOL
DETAILS If you want to gain extra credit this summer and want to push your academic development further, this is the module for you. You can take our additional 5 UCU/2.5 ECTS credit module alongside any of our 20 credit modules, but not as a standalone subject. This credit will be included on your official academic transcript and certificate of attendance. Awareness and reflection on aspects of professional development are vital to a fulfilling career. Throughout this module you’ll explore the reasons behind this and learn how to voice your own opinions on the subject. You will also gain new understanding of the term ‘professional development’, how it is involved in the workplace, and in particular why it is crucial to career progression. The Additional Credit module will consist of an introductory workshop and academic tutorials, and you are required to complete a supplementary academic assignment during the programme at UEA. THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL GAIN ASSESSMENT You’ll be assessed in a number of different ways during your time at UEA. Depending on your chosen course, assessment methods are likely to include coursework, essays, class presentations, tests and practical laboratory work. You’ll be given a handbook which will provide you with all you need to know about submitting your work correctly.
ACCREDITATION AND CREDIT TRANSFER All Undergraduate International Summer School modules are worth 20 UCU credits/10 ECTS credits at Undergraduate Level 5. We will provide you with an electronic transcript at the end of September 2019. If you need to gain additional credit during the summer, simply select this option when you apply. You’ll be enrolled in an extra module allowing you to gain an additional 5 UCU credits/2.5 ECTS credits. This will then be added to your electronic transcript and certificate of attendance. DETAILS Japan plays a significant role in the contemporary world, yet it is still seen by many as an unknown and mysterious culture. You will explore the latest approaches to Japanese studies and focus on stimulating discussions involving leading researchers and experts in the field of Japanese studies. Throughout this undergraduate level programme you will have the opportunity to visit the world-renowned Lisa Sainsbury Library for Japanese Arts at the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures. FIELD TRIPS MAY INCLUDE: You will spend week two of the programme living and learning in London, visiting museums with significant Japanese art collections including the British Museum (London) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London). We’ll help you access the libraries of various London universities, including SOAS (the School of Oriental and African Studies), so you can pursue independent research. Field trips in weeks one and three may include the Fitzwilliam Museum (Cambridge), University of Cambridge, the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) and University of Oxford. You will also have the opportunity to conduct your own research at the world-renowned Lisa Sainsbury Library.
DETAILS The Centre for Japanese Studies invites applications to join an intensive three-week postgraduate level fellowship in Japanese Arts and Cultural Heritage. With the support of the Ishibashi Foundation, we offer full bursaries to all successful applicants. We accept and strongly encourage applications from all nationalities; from recent graduates, postgraduate students, and early career professionals in the arts and cultures with a demonstrable interest in the field.
Classes will take place on UEA campus, home to the renowned Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, and also at the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures in the historic centre of the city of Norwich. UNDERGRADUATE INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS We’ll respond to all Undergraduate International Summer School applications within two weeks of online submission and may need to request further supporting documents or references.
PRE-REGISTRATION You’ll receive an email one month before you join UEA, inviting you to pre-register online. You will need to complete this task before arriving on campus.
SHORT-TERM STUDY VISA
Once we have all the required information, your application will be assessed and you will be notified of the outcome by email. If you have been successful in your application you will be sent a link to officially accept your offer.
If you require a short-term study visa for the UK, you’ll need to apply for one once you have formally accepted your offer. We will provide you with an official letter for visa application purposes.
For the Undergraduate International Summer School modules, a deposit of £200 needs to be paid within two weeks of receiving your unconditional offer, or by 15 May 2019, in order to secure your place on your chosen module. The balance fee deadline is 29 May 2019.
