Een tentoonstelling voorbereiden met beeldend kunstenaar Arno Kramer voelt voor ons vertrouwd en we weten ook op voorhand dat dit een interessante reis is die we samen gaan maken. In 2005 toonden we in ons cultuurhuis de tentoonstelling Into Drawing; hedendaagse Nederlandse Tekeningen waarbij Arno Kramer als curator 22 kunstenaars selecteerde van wie we ruim 100 tekeningen presenteerden. Deze tentoonstelling heeft ook letterlijk een mooie reis gemaakt en is te zien geweest in Limerick, Parijs, Florence en Bedburg-Hau. De tentoonstelling heeft veel belangstelling gekregen bij pers en publiek en er verscheen een prachtige uitgebreide publicatie met interessante teksten over de tekening in het algemeen en de eigentijdse tekenkunst in het bijzonder. Het is een fraaie samenloop dat we voor dit project, waarbij dit keer Arno Kramer juist als kunstenaar centraal staat met recent werk, ook weer samenwerken met de Limerick City Gallery of Art. Het is goed te constateren dat dit project in grote collegialiteit is uitgewerkt. Dat laat zien dat samenwerking én de kunstenaar voorop staan voor ons allen. Ik ben collega Una McCarthy, directeur van de Limerick City Gallery of Art( LCGA) dankbaar voor deze collegiale samenwerking. Voor Arno Kramer is Ierland een tweede vaderland geworden sinds hij er in 1995 voor het eerst als artist in residence kon werken en behalve als kunstenaar heeft hij ook vele sporen als curator getrokken door het Ierse land. CODA toont deze tentoonstelling van 16 januari tot en met 24 april 2022 en aansluitend zal Kramer’s werk vanaf mei in Ierland te zien zijn. Al ten tijde van onze rechtsvoorganger, het voormalige Van Reekum Museum is door CODA met enige regelmaat aandacht besteed aan tekenkunst en papier als drager én als materiaal voor kunstwerken. Het is daarmee vastgelegd in het ‘DNA’ van het museum. In de jaren negentig heeft het museum eerste collectieaankopen gedaan van werk van Arno Kramer en met enige regelmaat zijn daar nieuwe aankopen op gevolgd. Ook uit 7

Preparing an exhibition with visual artist Arno Kramer feels familiar to us and we also know in advance that this is an interesting journey we are going to make together. In 2005 we showed the exhibition Into Drawing; contemporary Dutch Drawings in our CODA Museum where Arno Kramer as curator selected 22 artists from whom we presented over 100 drawings. This exhibition has also literally made a trip and has been shown in Limerick, Paris, Florence and Bedburg-Hau. The exhibition attracted a great deal of interest from the press and public and a wonderful comprehensive publication appeared with interesting texts on drawing in general and contemporary drawing in particular. It is a nice coincidence that for this project, in which this time Arno Kramer is the very artist in focus with recent work, we also collaborate again with the Limerick City Gallery of Art. It is good to see that this project has been worked out in great collegiality. That shows that collaboration and the artist are paramount to all of us. I am grateful to colleague Una McCarthy, director of the Limerick City Gallery of Art( LCGA) for this collegial cooperation. For Arno Kramer, Ireland has become a second homeland since he first had the opportunity to work there as an artist in residence in 1995, and in addition to his work as an artist, he has also made many traces as a curator through Ireland. CODA is showing this exhibition from January 16 to April 24 2022, and subsequently Kramer’s work will be on display in Ireland from May 2022. Already during the time of our legal predecessor, the former Van Reekum Museum, CODA paid attention on a regular basis to drawing and paper as a carrier and as a material for artworks. It is thus an integral part of the museum’s DNA. In the 1990s the museum made its first collection purchases, with
