As Honorary President of the UKMA I am delighted to offer you the opportunity to partner with us in what is becoming the most exciting time for small sided football in the UK.
I recently attended the 6-a-side European Championships in Greece where we sent representative England, Scotland and Wales teams to compete along with 21 other nations and this was a magnificent occasion highlighting the very best 6-a-side football in Europe. As a sports lawyer I have been heavily involved in the regulatory bodies of sports such as hockey, snooker and darts in the UK for a number of years and I was delighted to be offered an opportunity to get involved in the fastest growing sport in the UK, smallsided football. Our European friends are ahead of us in that many countries in Europe see small sided football as a separate sport, requiring a separate governing body to 11-a-side football and this movement is gathering pace very quickly across the continent. We were very pleased that the European Governing Body for small sided football gave us the licence to operate the official England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Irish teams and we are currently acquiring a playing membership at an average of 1000 players per week which is on target to hit our aim of having a 1.3 million membership by 2018. As a league operator, I understand that you are instrumental in increasing participation in small sided football and we offer an alternative to other governing bodies in that funding we receive is channelled directly to you, you can play within your own rules, we do not impose any restrictions upon you, and, most crucially, the starter membership to us is completely free. Effectively, we do not ask you for any money and we trust that you know better how to increase participation in small-sided football than anybody else. As a Governing Body, we are not here to tell you what to do but to help you in your quest to achieve success in the businesses that you operate. Our only aim is to make sure that more and more people play small-sided football in the UK, and it is people like you who are the driving forces behind that. I congratulate you most warmly for the successes you have achieved so far.
Over the next five year period it is likely that our Governing Body will grow in stature and be more widely known as the Governing Body for small-sided football in the UK. It is easy for you to be a member of our organisation simply by filling in the online application form, and remember, it is completely free to do so. We receive external funding from sponsors, which means that we ask you for no money and don’t interfere with your business in any way whatsoever. As soon as you become a member, we contact you and tell you about all the benefits we can give you. If you want to take advantage of these benefits, then that is fine, if you don’t and want to remain a passive member then that is fine too. But remember, it is only when you are a member that you have an opportunity to receive the funding from our sponsors and from Europe that is currently being enjoyed by other European countries over the last year or two. I look forward to welcoming you on board. Tim Ollerenshaw MA(Cantab) executive@ukminfootball.co.uk

Romania Celebrate as European Champions 2013
We hold the exclusive licence to operate the National Teams. The pinnacle of any governing body is the national team. We hold the exclusive licence to operate the National Teams of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and there are exciting times ahead. The European Championships are played every year in a different European Country and in 2015 there will be the inaugural 6-a-side World Championships held in the USA. As a member not only do you receive news on all of these exciting events but you also receive VIP accreditation to attend these events as one of our partners. You will see the front cover of this brochure shows an aerial view of the 2013 European 6-a-side Championships in Crete. The atmosphere is incredible. When you are a member you can be a part of this, and your teams and players will have something to aim for at the very pinnacle of the sport they play.
You’ll know that as a commercial league operator you are usually ineligible for any funding from the FA. We take a different view. We believe that any league operator in the UK is instrumental in driving up participation in small sided football and whether you are a commercial enterprise or not, it is important that you receive funding directly because we know that you will put it into making your business better and therefore increasing participation in your leagues. Therefore, we are constitutionally committed to distributing funding that we receive from any source to you as a league operator on a pro-rata basis (depending on the size of your leagues) and the only criteria we stipulate is that you direct this money, in whatever way you wish, into your business, to make your business better. Currently, Sport England gives the Football Foundation money and this is used directly to go to new facilities, mainly for 11-a-side football. We believe that we can play an important role in channelling funding we receive directly to you as a league operator rather than facilities which are already receiving funding.
