CA Bridging
CA Bridging – set your accounting career on the fast-track! Available at U of L’s Lethbridge, Edmonton and Calgary campuses, CA Bridging is the quickest route to completing all the business and accounting courses needed for admission to the CA School of Business (CASB) while continuing to work full-time. Designed with the needs of adult learners in mind, courses are offered evenings and weekends in Calgary and Edmonton, and during the day in Lethbridge. They are taught by PhD-qualified academic staff and experienced accounting professionals. THE DESTINATION: A CAREER AS A CA Your Chartered Accountant (CA) designation will make a powerful statement about the depth of your abilities and the value of your ideas. Recognized worldwide, the CA designation signifies financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and a flair for leadership. Chartered Accountants are leaders in business – respected professionals essential to the success of the country’s foremost organizations. CAs do more than just create financial statements: they are policy makers, strategists and advisors. As a CA, you’ll provide the insight and strategic direction companies, governments, not-for-profit organizations, and professional associations need to stay on top. IS CA BRIDGING RIGHT FOR YOU? The program was designed specifically to enable those with a 4-year degree in business or another field to transition into a career as a CA. You don’t need prior accounting courses or work experience. CA Bridging allows a typical non-business grad to complete all courses within 12 to 24 months, while continuing to work full-time. You take only the courses you need – if you’ve already completed some accounting courses, you’ll complete CA Bridging more quickly.
JUST LOOKING FOR CANADIAN CREDENTIALS? If you have a qualified non-Canadian accounting designation and just need a couple of courses, CA Bridging enables you to get the Canadian credential and experience you need. CA Bridging students may register for two English culture education courses specifically designed for accounting students and accounting professionals whose first language is not English. In addition, we provide tools and support for obtaining relevant co-op placements or articling positions at approved CA training offices. Degrees from outside Canada must be assessed prior to starting the program. You can contact the Institute of Chartered Accountants directly at careerinfo@icaa.ab.ca for a personalized assessment or meet with an advisor, who can also provide the necessary forms. If English isn’t your first language, regardless of your citizenship, you must also meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement. BURSARIES Bursaries covering up to six courses are available to CA Bridging students. Information is available at http:// www.uleth.ca/calgary/ca-bridging-program or http://www.uleth.ca/edmonton/fast-track-ca-bridging-program or by contacting an academic advisor at either campus. APPLICATIONS To get started, you will need to meet with an academic advisor on the appropriate campus. Apply early as enrolment is limited.
