There are exciting things afoot at uLethbridge. We are delighted to welcome students back to campus after a year and a half of uncertainty. Not only will we welcome our newly admitted students to campus, but also those who joined us via online learning last September. You know better than most how challenging this pandemic has been for students and educators. We commend you for your perseverance and your dedication to the next generation of decisionmakers. I am so thankful for our incredible recruitment team, navigating the transition from in-person to online. They quickly learned how to build webpages, translate their presentations and develop engaging materials for a high school audience. They continued to guide our future students and help them transition successfully to university during a time of constant flux.
We have had a few changes to our team, including Carrie Allinson taking over as the new manager of national recruitment, as Susan Bakker assumed her new role as assistant registrar of admissions and transfer. We also welcomed two new recruitment officers this summer. Amy Lambert is in charge of recruitment in BC and Jessica Jones will be based in Calgary and overseeing recruitment in Northern Alberta. I hope this academic year is stable and productive for us all, and that our materials are helpful in guiding your students through the adventurous journey of post-secondary. Innovative Offerings NEW! Certificate in Arts and Science The Certificate in Arts and Science is available to students wishing to complete a university credential more rapidly than the standard degree program. Students may complete the ten-course certificate program on a part-time or full-time basis and may then apply for a degree program if desired, with the courses from the certificate meeting requirements in the degree. The program is easily accessible, with fewer admission requirements than a bachelor’s degree. The certificate maintains our commitment to liberal education and students have an opportunity to complete an assortment of courses. Students must declare either an arts or science stream, that provides a brief introduction to the subject area and allows students to ladder into the major.

Career Kickstart Cohort (CKC) The CKC will help you make the most of your studies and career-building opportunities at uLethbridge. There are several milestones to achieve as a University student before reaching the ultimate goal of leveraging your studies and experiences into a fulfilling career. Through the CKC, you will access career and professional development activities as well as experiential and work- integrated learning opportunities. Discover unknown skills and passions, define meaningful career options and challenge yourself to explore new interests and intersections between work, life and learning.
DSB Edge is for students enrolled in a Bachelor of Management program and who are joining uLethbridge directly from high school. As part of DSB Edge, you’ll have a built-in community that enhances academic performance and social success. You’ll make friends, find study partners, develop resilience, and fine-tune your interpersonal skills. You gain exclusive access to a special DSB Edge student orientation, leadership development opportunities, networking events and other student activities. Most importantly, you will be a part of a tight-knit community of business-minded students. Early Start Experience Through the Early Start Experience, students can take a liberal education course for credit before the start of the Fall 2022 term. It promotes success and eases the transition from high school to university while giving you credit for your degree. Get to know the Lethbridge campus, meet fellow students and your professors, and familiarize yourself with the resources we offer. You’ll also learn to articulate the value and impact of your experiences to future employers and highlight the range of skills developed during your degree. Did You Know? The Dhillon School of Business is the first business school in Canada to include an Indigenous course requirement as part of the core Bachelor of Management. About Post-Diploma Programs
Approved Diplomas
General Admission
Applicants who have been awarded a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution may be considered for admission to a PostDiploma Degree program at the University of Lethbridge. Post-Diploma Degree programs are typically 20 term courses in length and are composed of selected courses in the major subject and related disciplines, as well as courses to meet the Liberal Education List Requirement.
For current information on approved diploma programs, see ulethbridge. ca/postdiploma. Diploma programs not previously approved will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants with two- or threeyear diplomas from recognized institutions, where the program has sufficient academic content and the diploma GPA is 2.0 or higher, will be considered for general admission to a transfer program in the Faculty of Arts & Science, Dhillon School of Business, Health Sciences, or Fine Arts. GPA criteria will vary for particular programs and are subject to change. All GPAs are expressed on the uLethbridge 4.0 GPA scale.

The co-operative education program offers work experiences for EVERY major at both the undergraduate (CAFCE accredited) and graduate levels. We are the only university in Alberta to do this! Local, regional, national or international work experiences are available in areas directly related to your degree. uLethbridge students have completed work terms at EA Games, the Canadian Space Agency, Environment Canada, Husky, the Smithsonian Museum in Washington and in areas related to environmental sustainability, Indigenous relations, research and development, to name a few. Our education program is one of the leading programs in the country. You’ll receive 27- weeks of off-campus practicum experience, teaching in multiple settings, such as elementary AND secondary schools (unique to uLethbridge). Your professors are teachers who have all taught in K-12 classrooms and balance theory with practice. Our digital audio arts major, the most comprehensive degree program of its kind in Western Canada, combines academic courses and a classical music conservatory with experiences in audio engineering, music production and sonic arts.

The addictions counselling program is the only baccalaureate program of its kind in Canada.

The Dhillon School of Business has received Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR)
accreditation for the Bachelor of Management in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations program. The CPHR designation is the only designation recognized by nine provinces across Canada and is aligned with the United States’ Society for Human Resource Management — the largest HR organization in the world. •
Our innovative Aboriginal health program examines the factors that contribute to Indigenous health, strength and resilience in Canada. Students develop their skills in a community setting by engaging in a practicum in partnership with rural and urban Indigenous communities.

There’s an area in Dr. David Naylor’s lab at Science Commons that is the coldest place on earth! It’s just one of the many reasons why he is in the upper echelons of research in experimental astrophysics.

additional Admission Routes Dual Admission Dual Admission is a specific transfer admission route available for some degree programs open to students enrolled in a dual admission partner institution. Dual Admission applicants must meet all general admission and program-specific admission requirements in effect at the time of application.
Mature Student Admission
Indigenous Student Success Cohort
Applicants who are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, age 21 years or older, and who do not meet current admission requirements of any other admission route may be considered for Mature Student admission.
The Indigenous Student Success Cohort (ISSC) is a first-year credit program that provides First Nations, Métis and Inuit students who do not meet the general requirements of the uLethbridge an opportunity to enter into, and succeed at, university. This program provides a solid foundation of core skills in a supportive cohort environment that attends to Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Learning.
Applicants who have completed high school requirements with an admission average of at least 60%, or have a minimum grade of 65% in English 30-1 or 30-2 and passing grades in two other 30-level courses will be considered for admission. For applicants who have not completed high school requirements, a combination of academic credentials, standardized test scores, and evidence of life experiences may be considered.
It is also open to Indigenous students returning to university after an absence and, as space allows, to those who qualify for general admission but want the supports provided by the cohort.
The applicant is assessed for potential post-secondary success, which is the standard of admission for this route. A resume and letter of intent are required for admission purposes. Additional advice is available from Admissions.

Home School Applicants Regardless of their citizenship or residency, home school applicants will be considered according to the curriculum they followed. For example, a home school applicant who studied Alberta curriculum is expected to meet the requirements of an Alberta high school applicant. The applicant should challenge the departmental examinations in courses where such examinations exist to provide grades in the subjects challenged. The applicant would be considered for admission when they present final grades in five distinct subjects.

An applicant who presents both a high school diploma and appropriate, satisfactory standardized test scores, either ACT or both SAT I and II, will be considered for general admission.
Standardized Test Admission Standardized test admission route applicants who present acceptable ACT (American College Testing) or SAT (Scholastic Academic Test) scores will be considered for general admission. In the case of the SAT written prior to March 2016, the applicant must present complete SAT (Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing) and three additional SAT Subject Test scores. In the case of the SAT written after March 2016, a minimum combined Evidence-Based Reading and Writing plus Math (ERW+M) score of 1040 is required. In the case of the ACT, a composite score of 20 is required. Applicants are also required to meet program-specific admission requirements and therefore will be required to submit their high school transcript for review.
Post-Secondary Admission Applicants who have completed six or more transferable term courses at one or more post-secondary institutions will be considered as Post-Secondary applicants. To qualify for general admission, Post-Secondary applicants must have an admission average of at least 2.0 on the uLethbridge 4.0 GPA scale, calculated on all transferable courses. Satisfactory completion of certain Alberta high school courses or equivalents is required for admission to some majors. See High School Admission Requirements by Program for quota and specialized program admission requirements.
Applied and Technology Degrees Applicants presenting applied or technology degrees from recognized colleges or technical institutes in Canada with GPAs of 2.0 or higher on the uLethbridge 4.0 GPA scale will be considered for admission to first degree, undergraduate non-quota programs. These applicants will be considered for admission to quota programs according to their qualifications. Transfer credit will be awarded according to regular uLethbridge procedures and policies, including those pertaining to residency, major and time limits.
Upon admission, students are assigned transfer credit on a course-by-course basis for eligible post-secondary work. Transfer of credit may serve to reduce the number of courses which must be completed at uLethbridge in order to complete a program of studies.
Applied and technology degrees are not normally considered to be a basis of admission for second degree or graduate studies programs.

English Language and SPEAKING Requirements English Language Proficiency English is the primary language of instruction and communication at uLethbridge. Prior to registration, all undergraduate students must demonstrate English language proficiency sufficient to meet the demands of classroom instruction, written assignments and participation in tutorials and discussions, regardless of their citizenship status or country of origin. To apply to uLethbridge, students must create an ApplyAlberta account before completing their uLethbridge application. Applicants can access the application from our website ulethbridge.ca/future-student as well as at applyalberta.ca.
Complete online application form at ulethbridge.ca/future-student High school applicants: Published Grade 11 grades will be used to determine conditional admission to uLethbridge. Final Grade 12 grades will be reviewed and must meet admission requirements prior to the appropriate document deadlines. Include valid credit card information for payment of the application fee.
Student Application Fee The application fee for admission to an undergraduate program is $140. Subsequent applications for admission are no cost.
Conditional Admission Conditional admission decisions are made on the basis of published Grade 11 grades (high school applicants), transcripts and/or mid-term mark statements (for courses in progress) received by the Admission decision document deadline. Applicants offered conditional admission must meet or exceed the admission standards of their program by the final document deadline.
Applicants currently studying at institutions not participating in ApplyAlberta or any educational institution out-of-province are strongly advised to arrange, at the time of application, for the submission of interim transcripts if required final transcripts are not yet available. We send important information by email so it is important for applicants to check their accounts regularly. An applicant offered admission receives an offer by email, followed by a mailed Welcome Package. We email registration information once it is available.
Applicants must complete the Confirmation of Admission online, or submit the form with the non-refundable tuition deposit before the expiry date identified in the Offer of Admission. Liberal Education List Requirement | All uLethbridge students must complete the Liberal Education List Requirement. This involves taking at least four courses from three different areas: fine arts and humanities, social sciences, and sciences. The University of Lethbridge offers a wide variety of on-campus living options, from single rooms to shared apartments.
Students are advised to apply as early as possible to improve their chances for accommodation. Newly admitted applicants, who apply before April 1, will have their names entered into an accommodation lottery. Approximately 75% of the allocated beds will be randomly selected. The names drawn will be guaranteed accommodation prior to May 15.
Students who join us direct from high school or who take less than one year off between high school and university are considered New University students. New students can apply online to stay in traditional-style dorms in University Hall (UHall), or one-, two- or fourbedroom apartments in Aperture Park. These are fully furnished with a bed (with storage space underneath), a desk and storage for clothing. Satellite television, wireless internet and all utilities are included. They also include common areas where students can meet up with friends, play video games, watch movies and unwind. New students living in residence are required to purchase a dining plan, as they may be living away from home for the first time. This ensures first-year students have access to nutritious food with minimal effort.
Off-campus Housing To help students who choose to live off campus, uLethbridge maintains an off-campus housing registry that provides a range of off-campus housing opportunities such as room and board, shared suites and apartments available for rent in the Lethbridge area. Academic Advising Advising (or Student Program Services) offices are available to assist students with program planning. Academic advisors are typically available for walk-in and appointment times. Students should consult with an advisor regarding academic regulations, course selection, and program planning. Newly admitted high school students may also contact Enrolment Services with general questions.
