===== pump it up (2007) nacho carbonell siente fascinación por cómo las especies animales establecen estrechos vínculos para mejorar su calidad de vida. Ha querido diseñar objetos en los que este vínculo se manifiesta de forma física. El espectador puede compartir o interactuar y tiene la capacidad de crear. probablemente el acto de dar vida a algo, aunque se trate de vida artificial, sea el más satisfactorio que pueda experimentar el ser humano. uno se convierte en creador; inmediatamente establece un vínculo emocional con el objeto creado. Estas emociones son los sentimientos que constituyen la base de las relaciones y determinan el comportamiento humano. nos incitan a actuar, a amar, a odiar…

Pump it Up ofrece al espectador la oportunidad de crear su propio compañero, su propia mascota, del tamaño y peso de su propio cuerpo. se trata de un objeto funcional que despierta las emociones.

Here you share or interact and have the power to create. probably the act of giving life to something–even if it’s artificial life–is the most satisfying act for a human being. you become like a creator. you immediately establish an emotional link. these emotions are the basis of relationships and determine human behaviour. they move us to act, to love, to hate...

Pump it Up gives you the opportunity of creating your own personal companion, your own pet, just by the weight and volume of your body. it’s a functional item that awakens your emotions.

===== conE clocK (2006) what’s the relationship between objects and space? and between space and time? what if an object changed its position during the day, would it become a clock? designed as a personal object, Cone Clock is a clock consisting in nothing but the “hours hand” which also indicates the minutes when rotating around itself. any table, floor or flat surface becomes the face. the numbers are set by the user, who decides which objects to use as his personal points of reference. notes or objects can be placed at specific points to make us think about what we have to do as a sort of daily agenda.

¿cuál es la relación entre los objetos y el espacio? ¿y entre el espacio y el tiempo? ¿si un objeto cambiara de posición durante el día, podría convertirse en un reloj?

Cone Clock es un reloj diseñado como objeto personal. Está compuesto únicamente por la “aguja de las horas”, que a su vez indica los minutos al rotar sobre sí misma. cualquier mesa, suelo o superficie plana puede hacer las veces de esfera. El responsable de colocar los números será el usuario, quien decide qué objetos usará como sus puntos de referencia. se pueden colocar notas u objetos en determinados puntos para recordarnos lo que tenemos que hacer, a modo de agenda.

Ink Calendar makes use of the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper to indicate time. the ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are “printed” daily. once a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. the calendar enhances the perception of time passing in an analogue way. the aim is to address our senses, rather than the logical and conscious brain. the ink colours are based on a spectrum that relates to a “colour temperature scale”, each month having a colour related to our perception of the weather on that month. the colours range from dark blue in december to three shades of green inspring, or orange and red in the summer.

Ink Calendar se sirve del paso acompasado de la tinta extendiéndose por el papel para indicar el tiempo. la tinta se absorbe lentamente y los números del calendario se “imprimen” diariamente: los números se van llenando con tinta, uno cada día, hasta el final del mes, y el calendario mejora la percepción del paso del tiempo de una forma analógica. El objetivo es dirigir nuestros sentidos en lugar de nuestro cerebro, lógico y consciente. El espectro de colores de la tinta se basa en la “escala color-temperatura”. de este modo, a cada mes le corresponde un color relacionado con nuestra percepción del tiempo atmosférico en ese mismo mes. los colores van del azul oscuro en diciembre a tres tonos de verde en primavera o naranja y rojo en verano.
