RESEARCH DOMAINS The National University of Chimborazo has three domains, which constitute the strengths and potentialities in certain areas of its actions, which respond to the needs of Zone 3; they address social problems such as health, education, housing, economy, democratic and citizen institutions, territoriality, productivity, habitat and quality of life. These are: 1. Health as a social product, oriented to Good Living. 2. Socioeconomic and educational development for the strengthening of democratic and citizen institutions. 3. Territorial development, productive and sustainable habitat to improve the quality of life.

OUR HISTORY National University of Chimborazo (Unach) was born as a sign of transformation of the city of Riobamba, which struggled to have a university, capable of training the greatest human talent, in order to promote local development. In this historical context, since 1995 we have offered quality education, leading new scientific processes that allow us to become leaders in knowledge creation and academia in Ecuador. Our current administration focuses its work on constantly evaluating all the academic programs, in order to guarantee their quality and relevancy. It also centers attention on the generation of national and international relations with public and private institutions, to jointly face the youth´s training needs, processes of permanent improvement, team action, intellectual production and the desire to excel of the members of the university community.

OUR CITY In 2014, Riobamba was declared "Academia City", as a recognition of the work, influence and social development, generated by its higher education institutions. Unach, as a part of this process, promotes the internationalization of the local culture, as well as its scientific and economic production, which has unique characteristics to share with the world.

Riobamba was founded in the sixteenth century B. C. by the Spanish community, settled in the ancient capital of the indigenous people called "Puruháes", who inhabited the region from the 6th century B.C. At the moment, it occupies a different territory, due to the destruction of the city in 1797, expanding from the old historical center towards the four cardinal points.

The city sponsors an Economic Development Agenda, in which our university is involved, to create value-adding spaces to boost the local agriculture production and the tourism industry, among others. To meet this need, Unach stablished in 2018 the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network together with other 7 universities in the region. One of our goals is to industrialize and export traditional products such as chocho, quinoa, amaranth and sangorache, after discovering a new nutraceutical and biopharmaceutical potential of these Andean plants.
OUR INTERNATIONALIZATION MISSION With the maturity reached in our 23 years of institutional life, Unach has debated the concept of internationalization, trying to answer the question: What model will frame our actions against the problems of globalization ? In this context, we are focused on cultivating a cosmopolitan culture, we reformulate our curricula in order to train global professionals, we enhanced our faculty and student mobility programs and we developed collaborative research relationships

CAMPUSES North Campus >>
Located on Av. Antonio José de Sucre, Km. 1 ½, Riobamba –Ecuador. It is our largest campus, where three of our four schools operate, in addition to the administrative offices, the Olympic pool, gymnasium, coliseum, theater and auditoriums.
Campus La Dolorosa >>
It is the historic campus of our university, located on Av. Eloy Alfaro and 10 de Agosto. Formerly, the buildings from this campus where used as an academy for priests. In 1990 all of them where donated by Bishop Leonidas Proaño Villalba, Bishop of Riobamba to the University. The Faculty of Education, Humanities and Technologies and the Office of the Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Research operate on this campus.
Downtown Campus >>
It is the institution's newest campus, located on Duchicela and Princesa Toa streets. Our Architecture and Dentistry undergraduate programs operate here, as well as an attention office of the National Assembly of Ecuador. This campus has one of the most beautiful historical buildings of Riobamba, called "Casona Universitaria", a building of the early twentieth century, with a privileged view of the city.

OUR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS We offer 31 undergraduate programs, which are part of four school. Currently, we have 10,012 students from all of our schools; each year we receive around 9,000 applications, and we accept around 1800 people.

The Department of “Students and University Welfare” is an administrative unit responsible for providing an environment of respect, ethical values, physical, psychological and sexual integrity of the students, teachers, and administrative collaborators of the Institution; provides vocational and professional guidance services, scholarships, financial aid, medical-dental service, among others.
Medical Department >>
It is a unit formed by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals (doctors, dentists, nurses and laboratory technologist) whose objective is to provide quality medical, dental, clinical and nursing laboratory services to our students, teachers and administrative personal.
Scholarships >>
A scholarship can be granted on the total or partial amount of the Ecuadorian basic salary, according to the case. All regular students are eligible for a scholarship, from their second to their last semester of their education program. The monthly economic amount that is given varies depending on the annual budget and the number of beneficiaries of each academic period.
Life and accident insurance >>
All students enrolled at Unach receive medical insurance, against possible accidents and even in cases of death, which constitutes an economic aid that is delivered to finance the expenses acquired during fortuitous events.

STUDENT SERVICES
Wireless network registration (wifi) To obtain a Wi-Fi key and access to free wireless Internet within all the university campuses, students must access Unach website, following the steps detailed on the site: www.unach.edu.ec, option electronic services.
Email All students enrolled at Unach have their own e-mail address, which serves as the main channel to receive information about the activities carried out at our institution.
Sports and Cultural Scenarios All of our sportive spaces count with the appropriate facilities for the practice of a particular sport, including indoor and outdoor spaces. All of the members from our community have free access to all of our spaces. North Campus 1 stadium, 1 coliseum, 1 pool, 1 gym, external basketball courts, índor and ecuavoley. Cultural scenarios Each one of our four schools have an auditorium for cultural and academic activities. In addition, the institution has one of the best places in the central region of Ecuador for the realization of artistic and cultural events. This space includes our Theater, where our commencement events take place every semester and where the best artistic events of the city have been developed. In addition, the university offers cultural training workshops where students can participate and improve their knowledge in music, theater and magic clubs.

System of Libraries All the Libraries at the National University of Chimborazo, constitute a system of management of resources of identification, collection, conservation and organization of scientific, technical and cultural information, so that they contribute with the intellectual and professional development of the students, professors, researchers and the public, in general. These spaces are actively contributing to social progress; there are three areas within the Library System:
Central Library Concentrates the texts of the of Health Sciences, Engineering and Political and Administrative Sciences Schools and it is located on the ground floor of the Educational Technology Center building, on the North campus. Open Shelf Library Located on the second floor of the Building of Education, Humanities and Technologies, at the Dolorosa campus. It has books and other exclusive publications of this specific school. Scientific Databases (Virtual Library) It consists of high quality and specialized information banks. Mainly, it concentrates indexed and research journal as well as digital books.
OUR EDUCATION SUPPORT CENTERS Language Center
Sports Center
In order to graduate at out University, students must complete 6 semesters in a foreign language. Our language center provides quality education in English and French. Additionally, the center offers translation services as well as language adaptation short courses for foreign students.
Another graduation requirement is to complete 3 semesters on sport training, in the discipline of the student’s chose, including Basketball, Dance, Self Defense, Soccer, Volleyball; And swimming. Additionally, the center generates several activities, in which all students can be involved, such as athletic races “Unach 5K”, and championship in order to motivate students to be involved in sportive activities.
