Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself? Hmm, where should I start.. well I'm a 20-something blogger, based in Melbourne (Australia), had spent a few years in England as a child, but my roots are firmly in Indonesia. Apart from blogging, I also do some crafting, graphic/web design, and photography. I have a growing camera collection, I smile a lot, I love sushi, I do a lot of shopping at thrift/charity stores, and I'm socially awkward. What's your favourite cupcake? Red velvet

When did you start creating? I started creating handmade jewellery a few years ago, I think it was 2007. It was just something fun to do, and I started selling my creations in shops and through Etsy. The blog came after that, because initially I only had a blog as a place to promote my Etsy shop. However, since then, the blog has kind of taken a life of it's own, and these days I prefer to use it as an inspiration/ photography blog. So from there, began my obsession with photography. I wanted to take better photos for the blog, and was inspired by other photographers I noticed online. So I started exploring photography, especially film photography a lot more. I guess each of my passions have been interconnected in some way. My crafting lead me to blogging, which lead me to photography.

What do you like to do when you're behind a computer? Blog, tweet, catch up with other blogs, but if I'm not online I'd most likely be playing with Photoshop. What are your favourite blogs? Theres so many!! Daydream Lily, The Clothes Horse, Our City Lights, Yes and Yes... just to name a few. I love reading a variety of blogs, I don't stick to one specific "genre". Which magazines do you like to read? Lula, Frankie. What's your inspiration for the photos? The simplicity of every day things. I like finding something beautiful or interesting in what other people may consider plain or ordinary.

What's your favourite friday night? A nice dinner out with my closest friends is probably the best way to end a long week. What's your favourite sunday(morning)? Sleeping in till 10, then have a big breakfast (toast, eggs, sausages, tea) in front of the TV. If there's nothing good on TV, I'd put on one of my Gilmore Girls DVDs, which I never ever get tired of.

What's your screensaver? We attatched it, itâ€&#x;s on the right. ♼

Hi, Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself? My name is Brigida, which is a name that combines my dad‟ s Swedish heritage and my mom‟ s Chamorro (Guamanian) background. I live in what was once the Scandinavian neighbourhood in Seattle, in a house with a black cat and a fairly prolific vegetable garden. Sometimes in the morning I can smell the ocean when I step outside my door. Where did you develop your style? I‟ ve been drawing and painting since I was a little kid. I also went to RISD to study painting, but I didn‟ t paint all that much while I was there. Instead, I made a lot of small sculptures out of paper and grouped them into installations. Then I started to incorporate drawing elements into my work, making tiny ink patterns on paper and cutting them out, then pinning the papers to the wall with straight pins. I really started to develop my drawing style after college, though, when I discovered how much I loved ink and calligraphy pens. My drawings have become more illustrative and traditional over the years, perhaps more simple in some ways, but more genuine to who I am now. Who’ s your inspiration, and this can be in life or in your drawings? I‟ m inspired by everything I read, of course, but especially Jane Austen, my favourite novelist. She is so honest with her wit! My grandmother started painting in her old age, and made these fantastic collaged seascapes and still lifes. Even though she died before I got the chance to really know her, I‟ ve always looked to her paintings for inspiration. Which artist/illustrator inspires you? There are so many! I admire Kiki Smith, Morris Graves, Charlotte Mann, and Mandy Greer. When I was in college I had an opportunity to work with an installation artist, Lynne Yamamoto, and she was a huge influence on my creative development at the time.

Etsy Feature What’ s your dream assignment? Even though I‟ m not much of a sequential artist, I‟ ve had a dream for a while of making a graphic novel version of Jane Austen‟ s Mansfield Park. Which of your paintings is your favourite? I‟ m rather fond of Crossed in Love. It was the first Austen illustration I made and I remember being so excited about it when I finished! My other favourite is Do Not Faint, simply because the quotation is something I try to remind myself of often. It‟ s a good motto to live by, I think. What kinda materials do you use for one painting? I usually work on hot-press watercolour paper, drawing with a metal tipped calligraphy pen that I dip into a pot of walnut ink. Sometimes I use a squirrel brush to paint with. My favourite pencil is made out of recycled newspaper and smells like peppermint. A student once gave it to me as a gift, and I‟ ve now used it down to a stump. I‟ ll need to find where to buy another one.

When did you start and Etsy shop and in what way did Etsy help you growing as an artist? I opened up my Etsy shop in the spring of 2008. When I started I wasn‟ t all that certain whether anyone would even see my work, let alone buy it, but then my prints were featured in some well-read blogs and things took off. Etsy helped me to become a lot more confident about my artistic decisions. Now I just make things that I really love, and hope that others will feel the same. What do you like most about Etsy? I like how it feels more like a community than just an online shopping site. I‟ ve made a lot of good connections through Etsy and have been given opportunities as an artist that might not have been possible without it. What would you like to accomplish in the future? I‟ d like to travel as much as I can to see beautiful places I‟ ve read about in novels…India, Russia, go back to England and Italy… I also want to learn more about printmaking than what I already know. Someday, perhaps, I‟ d like to get my Ph.D. in Art Education. Mostly, though, I hope to continue to draw, teach, and read lots of novels. ♥
