Sustainability Strategy
• Owing to the success and potential of the GCIP in Pakistan, support for existing and new Cleantech innovators need to be continued • Startups and SMEs working in the area of Cleantech need to be nurtured and further motivated • New sources of sponsorship of prizes need to be identified • In this regard, a strategy needs to be devised to ensure sustainability of the GCIP interventions after it concludes
• Cleantech innovators are mostly from universities and research institutions • SME sector is least involved in innovations • Incubation centres are limited in focus and spread and mostly follow commercial approach • Commercialization of innovation is a new concept in Pakistan • A disconnect between academia and business community – a big dilemma
• Insufficient funding mechanism available for Cleantech innovators • Limited public sector involvement in promoting Cleantech innovations and commercialization • Low participation of women in Cleantech innovation & business • Lack of proper Cleantech promoting platforms • Insufficient manufacturing facilities at commercial level • General lack of motivation for innovators to initiate a startup
• Lack of exposure/support to participate in the international competitions • No orientation facility in Cleantech approach for SME sector • No investor connect or networking facility available on regular basis • Stereotypical thinking towards women empowerment hampers their participation in Cleantech innovations • Business unfriendly policy structure for Cleantech startups
• Low level of awareness about the advantages of clean technologies • Unavailability of seed funding from public or private sector • Limited availability of qualified judges specialized in Cleantech categories • Absence of mentoring culture on voluntary basis • Lack of interest of financial institutions in funding the clean technology based initiatives • Limited academic opportunities to study and specialize in Clean technology for women
• Ensuring gender mainstreaming • Involving SME sector in innovation • Getting industry specific challenge prizes identified • Connecting academia with private sector • Linking innovators with investors • Linking local funding mechanisms with local innovators • Linking international funding mechanisms with local innovators
• Linking innovators with incubation facilities • Convincing chambers to sponsor Cleantech awards • Linking women with relevant Cleantech Business Growth centers • High expectations of innovators from GCIP Pakistan to fund startups
• Cleantech Alumni • Cleantech Partners & Associated Institutions • Support of Ministry of Industries & Production • Other business accelerators in the country • Chambers and R&D funds • Incubation Centers • Private sector / Multinational companies • Research Institutions / Universities
