So, why Essex? Essex has one of the top Chinese-English interpreting courses in the UK. I was pleasantly surprised with the diverse variety of modules and the hands-on education I received to help me prepare as an interpreter. I was a bit nervous about moving to the UK but the staff and students here are so friendly, and I settled in within just a couple of days. Boning Nie, MA Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting student
I’ve fallen in love with the University! It’s home to lots of international students and I’ve realised the world is right here in front of me. Essex truly is the world in one place! The staff are very helpful and the range of workshops on offer have helped me a lot as English is not my first language. Essex offers a very supportive environment. Meng Wang, MA Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting student
I’ve had the opportunity to interpret in real-world environments on a range of field trips to the V&A Museum, BBC Broadcasting House, the European Commission, and the Jaguar Land Rover robotics factory. These were each very enjoyable, and allowed me to become familiar with the workflow of an interpreter and their preparation beforehand. These were excellent opportunities.
