The pink city of India - JAIPUR

From the Editors Desk February, shortest month of the year- yet a day more this time! A month filled with fragrance of romance in the air ! In a few days from now, the papers and hoarding will scream about the latest must have or ideas for expressing your love: a quiet lunch or even a tab at a reduced price, you have a huge range to choose depending on your pocket size . Reason - Valentine's day. The question that comes to my mind at present is do we need a particular day to express our 'love' to any one?? It is quiet all around for the moment.. What is love? Somewhere I read, True love is neither physical nor romantic.. It is unconditional. It is also said, genuine love is patient , thoughtful, kind and forgiving. It is spontaneous without any walls of mind, body & soul. Today, 'love' has become an interesting topic for everyone. Studies have revealed that children who do not receive sufficient love and care cannot survive; instead they become withdrawn and very aggressive. Like wise, teenagers show a tendency of depression if they are deprived of love. And adults for that matter become ill both emotionally and physically. In the end, they lead a hollow life. I would say understanding others is the first step to love anyone. It is unselfish. It is expressed and directed outward towards others. Never wait for a day to celebrate 'love'. This has to be our life style. Idea is, you do not have to wait for any moments sent from heaven to love others. This is an every second task. You may have difference on ideologies or behavior. But that should not stop your love any one. Love is what makes a person genuine, brave and empathetic towards others. Each one of us is a valentine to some one or the other. We will receive love when we start loving others. Helen Keller said;''The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they must be felt with the heart". Let us touch the heart of every one we meet during the journey of life. Happy Valentine's day to all the warm hearts out there Let Every day be your Valentines' 365x24x7 !

here are different opinions about the history of Valentine's Day. Some experts say, it's celebrated to remember St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". This note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day. Now, every year on this day, people remember and celebrate. Most importantly, they think about love and friendship and also think of Emperor Claudius and how he tried to stand in the way of love. They laugh and celebrate because they know that love can't be beaten! Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine. Over time, February 14 has become the date for exchanging love messages and a celebration of St. Valentine, the patron saint of lovers. The date is marked by sending poems and simple gifts, such as flowers, to loved ones and secret loves. By far, Valentine's Day Flowers are the

In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial valentines were introduced in the 1800's and now the date is very commercialised. The town of Loveland, Colorado, does a large post office business around February 14. In Wales, wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favourite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart! In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling. In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him. Some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire. There is another belief that on a leap year if a woman tell a man that she loves him, the man

must marry her! Traditions have changed over the centuries, now its all different and new. Every year a new trend is observed. Years ago it was all about self written love poems and declarations of love, which moved to giving cards and flowers. Then it became the specific red rose. Now it has come to exclusive spa treatments for the couples, candle light dinner and music. Gifts has become notebooks and tabs.

Orange colored dress code : Already in love. Blue colored dress code : Applications welcomed. Black colored dress code : Not interested in love. Yellow colored dress code : Failure in love. Green colored dress code : Accepted a love. Red colored dress code : Already booked. White colored dress code : Double sided.

Times change, traditions change too, but the love always remains the same. You have 364 days to celebrate love, but you have a single day to express it when love is in the air all around you! So make it extra special and celebrate love! - compiled from different sources by SRA-

The generation today have even dress codes defined for the day. If you are wearing a Pink colored dress it would mean that you are going to propose to someone.
