UNISUS BASKETBALL ACADEMY INNOVATIVE EDUCATION + HIGH PERFORMANCE ATHLETICS
THE UNISUS SCHOLAR ATHLETE PROGRAM The UNISUS Academic + Academy program combines innovative education with rigorous pursuit of a personal passion. Programs are designed to nurture students for success in the real world. Our tailored academic schedule meets the learning outcomes of the B.C. Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate Program (IB) while providing the freedom for students to pursue dedicated and rigorous training in a competitive sport. Academically, the IB program aims to do more than other curricula by developing a student’s ability to become life-long learners who are reflective, collaborative, caring, and motivated. As an IB World School, UNISUS offers IB programs beginning in Kindergarten with the Primary Years Program (PYP) and culminating with the academically rigorous IBDP for Grade 11 and 12 students. IB World School students develop strong academic, social, and emotional characteristics and they are also likely to perform better than students from other academic programs. Research has shown that IBDP graduates are better prepared for post-secondary education and are preferred by admissions offices at leading universities.

LAKE CITY BASKETBALL Lake City Basketball has been in operation since 2016 and was created by Directors Chris Terris and Dustin Hyde with the ultimate goal of providing high level basketball programming for youth in the South Okanagan. The program has grown immensely over the past few years with the addition of UVIC Hall of Famer, Basketball BC Hall of Famer, and former National Team member Spencer McKay who played on Canada’s National Basketball Team for 10 years and served as the lead assistant coach for the UBC Thunderbirds (2013-2018). LCB is teaming up with UNISUS School as the basketball provider to bring scholar-athletes an unparalleled opportunity to achieve the optimal balance between classroom studies and the game of basketball. LCB and its professional team of coaches believe elite athletes need to be challenged yet supported; hence, LCB aims to deliver a basketball program that creates a positive structured environment and professional support system to ensure scholar-athletes reach their potential.
