Reverend Mother Ridiculous. Celebrant of Colour, Ambassador of the Divine Absurd. I create art and art space for public access and shared joy. As a medical director, I use art and purposefully ridiculous movement to improve mental health and wellness. As a Ridiculator, I behold life as perpetual art.

Internal Growth: Women and flowers are so O'Keefe... and she was just so right. There is softness, contrast, determination, and intensity; they seem to celebrate each other. The inside of many flowers look absolutely aflame. This flower woman offers intense internal focus and celebration of growth. I rarely work with white, a holdover from stained clothes and hating the smell of bleach, but I wanted to invite myself to play with softness. Then of course, subtlety not so much being my overall thing, a deep red center insisting on attention. Acrylic on canvas.

Morning Coffee: Red is a colour I often avoid. It can feel so intense and demanding. I can be so intense and demanding; maybe we are too red on red or something. As an artist I like to go directly for what I avoid, so I sought out this red woman intent to meet her demands. Like in the morning your coffee takes the edge off your bark, the purples and pearls offered softness while deepening her passionate intensity and pulling her right off the canvas. Painted on a slightly warped board (because art belongs everywhere and we are all slightly warped) in acrylic. Hair is coffee, plaster, and acrylic.
