PROJECT STATEMENT

This Park is designed to mitigate flood issues and provide public green space for the community. Ceremony space, safe walkable spaces are provided for the surrounding neighborhood. By changing the impervious surface to the biofiltration basin and pervious walkways, this park is able to minimize runoff.

UNIQUE GOALS Reduce Flooding, Mitigating Water

Create Public Green Space

The design contains basins for the collection and storage of rainwater. Redirecting rainwater and street runoff into infiltration and storm drain.

Provided a public green space for the Flowing Wells community n e i g h b o r h o o d . Th e c o m m u n i t y participates in the design decision in terms of programming.

Flowing Wells Community Meeting

Watershed Management Group Trevor Hare

Activity 2

COMMUNITY COMMENTS Talk to Trevor Hare from Watershed Management Group 1. Basin location is important on this site based on the inflow from the west side. 2. Take consideration of the water on Wetmore street, to release the stress on the road. 3. There is a privately owned, empty site nearby which could be considered as a potential site for affordable housing. 4. There is a paved parking lot nearby the site, which leads to a large amount of water to the site. 5. The density of vegetation is important in terms of safety issues. Denser the vegetation, more chance, homeless and drug abuser will take place.
