Clearing can help students without a place at university find their perfect course in time for a September start. We’ve put together all the information you need on Clearing so it’s as stress-free as possible. At the University of East London we’re always here to help. If you applied late, haven’t yet applied, changed your mind or missed out on the requirements of a conditional offer, there’s no need to panic – you can still secure a place on a course starting this September through Clearing.
Key Clearing dates: If you already have your results you can apply through Clearing from Friday 5th July. If you’re waiting on A Level results you can apply from Thursday 15th August. ACCORDING TO UCAS, JUST OVER 60,000 STUDENTS FOUND A UNIVERSITY PLACE THROUGH CLEARING IN 2018.

What is Clearing? We hope you’ll get the results you want and are accepted to your university of choice – but if things don’t quite go to plan, we’re here to help. Clearing allows universities to fill any places they have left on their courses and gives students another opportunity to find the right course for them. Whether you’re applying late, missed out on grades or have simply changed your mind, Clearing is a route to start your academic journey. You don’t hold any offers You declined your offers or missed the UCAS response deadline You applied after 30 June 2019 You didn’t meet the requirements of your conditional offer You haven’t yet made an application You’re a mature student You’ve changed your mind about your course of study.

How to apply through Clearing Clearing is another opportunity to secure a place at university. A lot of students come out the other end with an overwhelmingly positive experience of Clearing. Have a read through our step-by-step guide so you’re in the know come Results Day. Step 1: Research Have a look at the universities that offer the course you’re interested in. You can find Clearing vacancy listings for all universities on the UCAS website: www.ucas.com Step 2: Get in touch Give us a call on +44 (0)20 8223 3333 and one of the team will talk to you about your qualifications and let you know if you qualify for entry. If you do and there is availability you’re likely to be given a verbal offer over the phone. By registering for our Clearing Service at uel.ac.uk/clearing you’ll receive lots of information about UEL and university life. Step 3: UCAS You’ll find your UCAS Clearing number in Track. Once you have this (and we’ve given you a verbal offer over the phone), you can officially enter your Clearing choice in Track. If you aren’t registered with UCAS, give us a call and we’ll talk you through the steps. Step 4: Confirmation You don’t need to reply to a Clearing offer. Once you add the choice, we’ll confirm your place in Track. Step 5: Congratulations Well done, you’re coming to the University of East London!

Tips for Clearing on Results Day Keep calm Try not to stress out during the Clearing period Do your research Check with UCAS to see which universities and courses are in Clearing and make a shortlist of ones you are interested in. You might be interested in a different course or university that wasn’t on your UCAS application. Stay local If possible, try to book holidays outside of the Clearing period so you’re available to make calls. Be prepared Write down Clearing hotline numbers. Our Clearing number is +44 (0) 20 8223 3333 Be patient Don’t give up if phone lines are busy Be organised Have your results and UCAS Clearing number to hand when you call, along with any questions you would like to ask about the course or the university.
