Our MSc courses allow you to develop your expertise in highly coveted areas within the sports industry and rehabilitation and clinical exercise settings.
Our MSc students have gone on to become performance analysts, S&C coaches, entrepreneurs, exercise scientists, sport analysts, fitness club managers, sport therapists, personal trainers and teachers, working at the highest levels on the world stage.
The focus of our work contributes to scientific knowledge about improving sports performance and to enhance the quality of life of people in our local community. Staff and students within the department are currently researching within the following key themes; exercise for improved active health, increasing diversity in Sport Performance and Talent ID, nature-based exercise and wellbeing, excellence in the teaching and learning of sport and active health.

We’re the choice of some of the UK’s most exciting sports stars, like sprinter Adam Gemili, Paralympian Vanessa Wallace and WBO cruiserweight boxer Lawrence Okolie.
STUDENT-LED CLINICS
Our Docklands campus houses four state-of-the-art student-led sports labs and clinics, giving students career experience even before they go on placement.

We have close links to organisations like the London Lions basketball team, West Ham United Football Club, Nuffield Health, Blackheath & Bromley Harriers Athletics Club, Mossbourne Rowing Academy, Essex County Cricket Club, Sky Sport, PFF and Catapult.
Placement
We’re dedicated to finding employment opportunities for students. Our placement officer helps students find work experience and manage it with their studies. Current placements include the English National Ballet, London Lions, Barts Health NHS Trust and East London Sport.

At the University of East London, you’ll have access to leading industry experts in both theory and application of the latest sport and exercise science. You’ll learn from professionals with real-life experience in their field, whether that’s sport analytics, strength training, sports psychology, clinical exercise physiology or highly specialised research. Our degrees are recognised by leading governing bodies with MSc Applied Sport & Exercise Science (Sport Psychology) accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). Our MSc Sport Analytics is also one of the first of its kind in the UK, established in response to the shift in sport industry toward using big data for performance enhancement and decision making.
As an MSc student, you will have the opportunity to manage our student-led sports clinics, learning to treat a variety of clients and patients internally and externally to the university which creates a unique experience during your studies to develop not only technical skills, but the essential key transferable and employability skills required to succeed in a highly competitive job market.
We work collaboratively with West Ham United Football Club to offer students the opportunity to work at their foundation and academy and have close links to other renowned local sports clubs. Furthermore, our master’s students can work with the London Lions Basketball Team to improve their experience of working in and around elite sport and strengthen their futures. Our MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology students gain 250 hours of placement experience within multiple NHS trusts and industry leading private healthcare clinics, working with real life patients to prepare them for employment straight after graduation. We also work on collaborative research projects with the London Borough of Newham, allowing our students to pick up valuable experience.
