A DEGREE + = BUSINESS FOUNDER
From the outset, Levan’s aspiration was clear: to carve out a career as a choreographer. “I had my ambitions, but I didn’t always have a roadmap”.
Levan’s grades fell short for admission on to his chosen course and he reached out to the university directly, expressing his passion for dance. Levan was offered our New Beginnings course, a 10-week access programme.
Studying at the University of East London meant that Levan was part of our inclusive community and finally felt like he could belong.
“It’s tough growing up in a small town without many people who look like you or share the same ambitions as you. The University of East London is super diverse. This is important because it enables
people from minority ethnic backgrounds and marginalised groups to belong and feel part of a community where they can create positive impact in the world.”
Our strategic location combined with the support and opportunities from the Career Zone were the perfect combination for Levan to thrive. Our Career Zone offers students tailored support based on their personal professional aspirations. Using the guidance from the enterprise team, Levan benefitted from business support and launched his own business; Blackout Dance Camp, teaching kids throughout the UK how to express themselves through dance.
“When I dance it is super liberating, momentous and powerful. I wanted kids to experience this freedom too.”
22
“New Beginnings prepares you mentally, spiritually and emotionally for what is to come. It gets you thinking in new academic ways and in turn it bridged me into my dream course and dream aspiration. BA (Hons) Dance Urban Practice.”
— Levan, former student

A DEGREE + = FINANCIAL STRATEGIST
Thy, an international student, made the decision to study Accounting at the University of East London primarily because of our Strategic Location. London held a special place in Thy’s heart and she jumped at the opportunity to pursue a degree in this vibrant part of the capital. Thy’s decision to embark on her educational journey at the University of East London was also guided by our diverse community of students offering a tapestry of cultures, perspectives, and experiences.
Thy was particularly impressed with our Career Zone service which provides support for students through a variety of different unique initiatives like our Diversity of Thought programme. This collaborative initiative was created alongside leading

The Practical Learning approach through our unique Mental Wealth module has been particularly useful to Thy. The module bridges the gap between academia and industry through hands-on experiences, industry-specific seminars, and real-world projects that extends beyond the confines of the traditional classroom.
From internships to collaborative research initiatives, UEL provided Thy with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving landscape.

A DEGREE +
= SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Daniel was drawn to the University of East London by our vibrant multiculturalism, our London location and our Inclusive Community. “I came to London because it is multi-cultural. UEL is reflective of that with its diverse and strong sense of community.”
From the moment Daniel stepped onto campus, he was immersed in a bustling community that welcomed students from all walks of life.
“At the welcome fair I saw the Taekwondo team and now two years in I am the chairman of the club.”
At the University of East London, we believe all students should have free access to our state-ofthe-art sporting facilities as the lessons learned in sports extend far beyond the gym; they instill
invaluable qualities like teamwork and discipline, attributes that Daniel will seamlessly transition into his future career as a software developer.
Embedded in every degree programme at UEL is the innovative Mental Wealth module which provides a unique focus on developing essential soft skills like critical thinking, cultural awareness and digital skills.
Our Career Zone service provides bespoke support to each student where through careers fairs, industry partnerships, and tailored workshops, we ensure our students are not only academically proficient but also well-prepared to thrive in the competitive world beyond graduation.
