GRADUATE WITH HONORS
You will need to complete 18 Honors credits (9 Honors credits for Hillyer students) to achieve Honors status. The 18 credits are incorporated into your curriculum, so you would generally need only an additional 3–6 credits over your typical course load. The requirements for each school and college vary slightly, but they generally include:
• 6 credits of Honors general education courses
• 6 –9 credits of advanced Honors courses
• 3 –6 credits of an Honors thesis or senior project
• Final GPA (usually 3.25+ or 3.5+)
CULMINATING SENIOR PROJECT
After finishing your Honors courses, you will complete a Senior Honors Thesis or Project. This final project allows you to work in depth on a topic of great interest with a professor who will serve as your mentor. This unique project culminates in the ability to present your work at the annual Undergraduate Research and Creativity Colloquium. Additionally, select students present their work at a regional conference. The Senior Honors Project is excellent preparation for graduate school or employment.
STUDENT FEATURE
Honors student Hinal Rana ’21 thrived as a premed student by stepping out of her comfort zone and taking advantage of the opportunities that UHart had to offer. Hinal graduated with a bachelor’s degree in the Health Sciences Pre-Professional Program. In addition to her academic work, Hinal also served as a Residential Assistant in the dormitories. She was also actively involved in Best Buddies, a campus group that engages with young adults who have intellectual delays.

The Honor’s Program gave her additional opportunities to explore her interests. She worked with her advisor and professor to connect with an area pediatric cardiologist whom she later shadowed at her hospital. Hinal completed her senior project titled The Relationship Between Daily Water Intake and Circulating Apelin: Seeking Feasible Solutions to Curb Population Health Burdens and presented her research virtually at the Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference.
