Your course

Whether you’d like to provide care for adults in the community or acute settings, this innovative nursing degree is designed to provide a great foundation for your future career. Supported by a team who really understand what it’s like to be an adult nurse, you’ll learn through lectures, seminars, group work, simulation, role play and online sessions. You’ll have the opportunity to learn key clinical skills and engage in simulation-based learning, within a safe environment utilising human patient simulators to enhance your confidence, competence and understanding of patient care. You’ll explore all aspects of nursing, from the fundamentals of providing care to more advanced topics such as complex needs and leadership and management. You’ll develop a range of specialist skills including communication, team working, decision-making and upholding professional values, as well as practical and theoretical skills in order to help you achieve your full potential as an adult nurse and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) Standards.

Placements

You’ll have the opportunity to put the skills and knowledge you’ve learnt into practice through clinical placements in a variety of healthcare environments across and beyond West Yorkshire. These include National Health Service (NHS) Trusts, private and voluntary organisations such as hospices, nursing homes and community settings. You’ll be required to travel and during your placements which cover 24 hour care including evenings, weekends and night shifts.

Your future

Our graduates have gone on to work within the NHS and private or voluntary sectors.** After further training you could work in specialist roles in acute and primary care, respiratory, breast care, diabetes, end of life, health visiting, school nursing, district nursing and more.

Entry requirements:

BBB*/DDM/120*/Merit at T Level/ Access to HE Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits 15 at Distinction and 30 at Merit

Additional criteria:

Have completed 12 years of general education GCSE English Language or English Literature and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English Understanding of adult nursing Relevant work experience Interview and references DBS and occupational health check

*If you are studying a Science A Level, the endorsement for practical work is essential and a requirement for entry to our degree course.
